You don't NEED quality welds to make power, but it sure can lead to damage and issues down the road. Imagine those pieces of wire going into the compressor side of the turbo. Not the best way to treat a turbo lol

Hey, to make it easier to fill gaps, use a half circle, do it then stop, then do it again, then stop and continue to do that until the hole is filled then grind it down some and then weld over it to make a better looking weld

Right. But a certified/degree welder should be able to fill any gap. Because there are times to where you are not able to use a grinder. I have been in that situation.

I bought a close out Harbor Freight plasma cutter for $250. It was the display and needed a new tip. That thing is awesome! Cuts 3/8’s plate steel like butter. I’ve had it for a few years and it has more than paid for itself.

There is a weave technic. Where you go left to right cleetus it makes filling gaps so much easier and better looking welds👌

@@tidobass6048 I've made 1/4 passes perfectly fine. Preferably you'd want a root pass. But you can still weld off wire you've already put down.

1/4 inch passes yea that’s a 3/4 pass at least a 1/2 gap there would have to be multiple root passes to fill the area. I myself am also a welder a trade and with thin gauge material with warp tolerance for the flange and the issue of excessive penetration into the manifold the only resolve in my book would be to use a proper couping for the pipe but being done with a bandsaw my next move would be to use tig to underlay cold weld and then a hot pass weave probably with a purge and set in sand for heat displacement.

I see brake parts cleaner near the bench vise...if you use that for pre-weld cleaning, make sure it’s NON-chlorinated! The chlorinated stuff, when heated, makes a toxic gas. Don’t want y’all getting hurt over there. Keep on keepin on! 🇺🇸
