Unfortunately that can't be done as the horse and soldiers are posted near a main road and public footpath so cannot be cordoned off. Inside the barrack walls however a cordon can be put in place if necessary especially for the changing of the guards while the ceremony is going on.

A horsewoman here, this horse was NOT spooked! It was taking a lone of the novice guard 😂. I have seen this many times when a new rider is not confident in their own ability for whatever reason. The commanding officer will not “get a new one” as someone commented in the video as this would only teach the horse that it can do as it pleases with this rider. Well done to the guard for turning the horse around, it now knows that the guard will not backdown and give up. Horses are smarter than people think. It is often seen in these videos by the fact that they tend to be gentle or playful with children and more aggressive with adults.

It amazes me that these ignorant people have to be told to move back when you can clearly see the horse is upset. I keep saying they need to make new rules to stop people from crowding the horse and petting it.

Maybe the area where the horse and Guard is, could be roped off with enough space so strangers do not pat him. The dear horse has a lot to deal with: noise, distractions, weight and he's trying to focus on standing still.

Ropes are a danger to both the horse and the public. It's too easy for the horses to get tangled up or trip. A painted line on the ground would be safest.

When are the people in charge going to stop members of the public petting and stroking the horses, it upsets them, and there was a prime example, it a good job the young lady was there to run after the horse and bring it back.

What is wrong with these people? You have a frightened horse and your laughing loudly and crowding around like idiots. Right after getting back in place you've got two ignorant back at it, the man who is just staring and the bimbo in the black jacket who actually runs towards the Guard and horse. There's barriers there, they should make everyone stand behind them and on allow a few at a time to get photos and then move on so there's no crowd build up all the time.

Apparently they are all illiterate and ignorant. They stand right by the sign that says the horses bite and kick, and send their kids in for photos.....what kind of parents are they? It also tells them to keep off the reigns, but that apparently applies to everyone except the person pulling on the reigns. There should be some kind of consequence for bothering the horses. (the Guards at least volunteered for the job - the horses are shanghaied.

Unfortunately, so many people in so many situations are unable to distinguish make believe from reality. That applies politically, but in more widespread situation. I worked in a library that had a children's reading area decorated with a setting related to some popular books. It had a gate and a transparent stream with fish embedded, frogs sitting on the bank and more. In the first minutes of the very first day the place was opened for the first time, I witnessed generally well-behaved kids turn into rampaging monsters as soon as the passed the gate--as it if were a Macdonald's play area. And a couple years later, a woman complained to me as Manager that a librarian had warned her 4 year old about the same kind of behavior. She asked, with grave seriousness, why we made the area look like Outdoors if we didn't want Outdoor Behavior. It is everywhere.
