The Biggest NBA Draft STEALS Of The 2010s

In any NBA draft, there are bound to be a handful of players that, for one reason or another, are overlooked. The draft has always been that way - you can put in all of the work and scout every player... but sometimes certain guys just fit better in the NBA, find themselves in an ideal situation, or work harder than others to create their own success... and those are the players that I want to talk about in today's video.
Welcome back everybody, my name is Tucker, and in this video I am going to list the biggest NBA draft steal from each draft in the 2010s. Now to be clear, when I say a steal, I mean a player that was drafted with the 20th pick or later (so for example, the 2013 steal can’t be Giannis), and I will be giving bonus points to players that went later in the draft.

Julian Garcia Why dumping on the Nuggets? If they didn’t trade away Nurkic, Jokic wouldn’t have had the proper playing time and usage rate to develop into the player he is today. Gobert and Mitchell were traded because Nuggets were loaded in those positions. If Nuggets didn’t trade them, there’s no telling how good they ever become. Darko Milicic was drafted ahead of Melo, Bosh and Wade but never got the proper exposure to develop playing behind Big Ben and Rasheed Wallace with McDyess backing them up as they contended for titles. If Darko had been drafted by a team that got t develop him, maybe things would’ve been different for him.

During and after the March Madness in 2019, I had always put Brandon Clarke in my top five to top ten in mock drafts because I could tell that he was going to be that great of a player day 1. Of course he dropped, but I always had faith that he would still be a top player in the draft, and he definitely was. I think there are a few older, betweener PFs that will go earlier in this year’s draft because of BC like Paul Reed and Jalen Smith.

Fun fact: In their respective drafts, Rudy Gobert and Hassan Whiteside were each considered to be top 5 talents on the boards of many teams early on in the draft process. But as their respective drafts approached many teams talked themselves out of that stance. Whoops.

I kinda disagree with a lot of your selections here. In my opinion, they should be: 2010: J. Lin (undrafted): Whiteside is a nice individual player, but doesn't do anything useful on a team level. While Lin's time with the Raptors last year was disappointing, he deserves the nod for Linsanity alone. 2011: J. Butler (30): I know, Thomas was drafted a whole round later than Butler, but Butler's a perennial All-Star and potential All-NBA type player, while Thomas has completely dropped off since 2017. 2012: D. Green (35): Both Middleton and Draymond were amazing finds, but Green has accomplished more in his career as an essential part of the Warriors dynasty. 2013: R. Gobert (27): No doubt here 2014: N. Jokic (41): No doubt here 2015: M. Harrell (30): I'm fine with the pick, but Norman Powell (46) should at least get a honorable mention. If he keeps his form from this season, he might very well be a better player than Harrell. 2016: P. Siakam (27): No doubt here, but FVV (undrafted) should get an honorable mention. 2017: OG Anunoby (23): No doubt here, but Thomas Bryant (42) should get an honorable mention. 2018: That's a toss-up between Graham (34) and Robinson (36), but I guess you could go either way. Robinson definitely deserves a mention though. 2019: B. Clarke (21): No doubt here, but T. Davis (undrafted) should be mentioned as well.
