I was 400 pounds and dying back in 2005. I was able to gain 30-40 pounds of muscle and lose the fat. I was a trim 200 pounds. I was pre lifter years before so your muscle growth is different if you are not a experienced lifter.

I started doing cardio consistently a few weeks ago and you know what? Sam is right. I’m banging out lifts that used to take an hour in 40 minutes and my recovery is a lot quicker. Still hate it though.

As a 41 year old dude it's wild seeing Sam train on the very same equipment in the very same gym I trained at 20 years ago. One of the best gyms ever. Metro on good on worthington woods blvd (formerly worlds). It's weird man....I remember toiling away at that gym in my early 20's just like Sam. Love it!

For anyone that’s 5’5 I’ve always struggled to find a good diet. So here’s a free one that I personally use it’s actually helped me a lot. Pair this with your workouts and u will be shredded I’ve always been fat and I’m finally noticing my pecks coming in and losing my man boobs now I feel great. 6:am 0atmeal one spoon peanut butter I scoop of protein powder. 10:00am 130g of 90% lean ground beef with 120g of white rice. 1:pm repeat 5:00pm repeat For dinner just drink a protein shake throw in a spoon of peanut butter and half a banana. You can use almond milk instead of water if you like I choose water. You can also mix up with chicken or ground turkey if you like. Very simple but affective method just keep your workouts and diets consistent gl guys

Sam and for anyone else having trouble with getting the bench centered on a smith machine…once you adjust the bench for the hight of incline your doing then start by putting the bar on the bench and then move the bench around till it’s centered with the smooth part of the bar ….that should give you a nice starting point before you get on the bench

Sam, when you do bench (press or incline), do you feel contraction in the pectoral muscles during the exercise? Or do you more so trust the movement? Asking for my own edification to bring along to my own gym, as I am (re)building my mind/muscle connection with my chest after a 5 year gym break. I can somewhat see that my muscle is moving, but cannot feel it outside of isolating exercises.

If you haven’t done so already, I’d encourage you to try one notch lower on the incline bench to see if it fires more upper chest and less front delts.

Sam I’m glad you brought up the whole cardio thing and I got a good one for you…I been working with a guy that has a construction business and my brother let me tell you that shit ain’t no joke…and I’m in Florida outside in the hot 🥵 ass sun all day doing it……then after all that and finally getting home it’s time to get ready to hit the gym ….Sam I’m not going to lie that was the hardest cardio shit I’ve ever done in my life you’re more than welcome to come give it a try
