Those are called double bevel files, they are getting very hard to find and more expensive but you can find them online

How long do you think it would take to do a 25 inch chain converting it from round to square? Ball park.

With a file, probably 15-20 minutes if your decent at it. With a grinder, 5-10 minutes.

Where did you get the muffler that sounds cool ?? Aaron I respect your video about square filing. But the 45 degrees you and others are talking about is not the angle you are using. Also, you could file from the bottom toward the point and achieve the same results with lot less file chatter and smoother sharpening using the bar as the holder for the chain. The easiest way to sharpen the chain is to take the chain and put it into a parallel vice or chain holder that can be clamped and file alway. No chatter at all in either direction, but still smoother filing from the bottom to the point of the edge. Just my two cents fella. Peace vf

Yes, the exhaust plate on the saw which is a Stihl 500i.

Your angle should be forty to forty five degrees. If you hold a protractor to the bar, at the witness mark, you will find that you are not doing it correctly. Hey, as long as it cuts good, does not matter. This is a black art of forestry and there is not right way, in my opinion.

Because if you have lots of round filed and want to start running square, you need to know how to change it over and that you can change it over which is super simple. It is a lot easier if you can just buy already Square ground chain and keep it square throughout the entire life of the chain but if you don’t have the means to ditch all of your round filed to go buy all new then this is what you have to do.
