@@jacobspeeds That's what I'm looking for but a Shelby GT500. I love the looks and performance of that car and you still have many mods to make to make it a serious beast And I have a '15 Challenger SRT (with all Hellcat visual/performance parts FROM THE FACTORY) but have never been truly happy with her - never even named her and only put 5500 on her so far. So the plan is to try and find a dealer with a fairly low mileage model with whom I can trade, but hard to get a righteous trade if there's no really money in it and because of what my car is, NADA has trade in value of my car at a median of $34k. Whatsthevin.com slapped me in the face with a cash offer of $29k proving that my best option(s) are either a private sale (which I honestly don't feel like dealing with, even more insulting process) or dealer trade. Yeah, there are a ton of SRT's out there, but not many like this one in the 2015 model year - the total premium package is pretty much a 2018 T/A offering. So, if any of y'all know of a dealer with a nice '14 Shelby GT500 in their inventory (which hopefully didn't have the SNOT beat out of it and is still stock - like mine is - I don't think I ever even hit 100 because I live in NYC (but moving to PA by the Spring, where I can actually enjoy driving again), please hit me up! I love this guy's honest content and he's not some kid who's looking to wrap himself around a tree. HOWEVER, I knew there was no way in hell he was going to hit close to 700 wheel in a naturally aspirated 3V 4.6. It's just not enough displacement without boost to get there. Love what he did with his GT though. Looks sweet. There IS something about this gen 3V that I love but I agree, the 13 - 14 is just a different animal, especially the Shelby!

You really can't beat the design of the 05-09 S197. The "facelift" smoothed all the hard lines out of the car. The worst offender is around the wheels. 05-09 had very nice looking flares. The tail end is much nicer too. The facelifted car's rear is far too smooth and fat, and the tail lights on the 2010-2012 (I believe...) were just awful. Like a child's toy. The later models did have very nice tail lights though. IMO the 05-09 S197 is the closest we've come to the 1965 Fastback design that is every guy's wet dream. I bought one brand new in 2007 and still have it! Great cars.
@tripyhippy
@tripyhippy 4 жыл бұрын
@@AKcelsior I feel the same about the rear tail lights, it looks like they tried to improve the looks with a cheap after market add on imo (not knocking any ones ride just not liking the looks) the front is ok I guess.... the S197 feel is old school imo and I should know I have had in the past two 70 mustangs a second generation Capri and my 89 mustang lx 5.0 conv.. when I found my 08 V6 auto a few years ago it was a fun old school feel 100% and now my new to me 09 GT conv 4.6 5spd is what I have been looking for in a modern car, i'm on top of the world and love this 45th so much.

"Man gets frustrated trying to squeeze NA power out of 4.6 Modular" Ahh yes, a tale as old as time. In all seriousness, this is a great video. And a great resource for guys looking at 2009, 2010 or whatever mustangs and wondering what the cost savings is worth. Having switched over to a coyote on my 3rd mustang I know I'm betraying my roots and I still miss that 4.6 sound, but the benefits are hard to ignore if any type of track use is on the table.

slightly off topic here but there's a lot of 2010 Mustangs around here (bay area california) lately (v6 and v8 models) not sure why. I've also been seeing < 10,000 mile 2010 V6 blue mustangs out and about, too (can tell, no rock chips on front fascia and no license plates). Kinda neat but not sure what the sudden surge of 2010 mustangs is about.

@SirRCTHETHIRD
@SirRCTHETHIRD 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the 2010 sure is an odd one. It looks like a 5.0, but has the 4.6 and a 5 speed. I have one that I drive everyday, and I have to say it's really great! From the factory it made 315 HP and 325 ft-lbs of torque at the crank. I'm sure those numbers are closer to 270 now, but I'll be honest, the dang thing still rips! I just took a ride in a 2011 California Special today, it has the 5.0, and while it was definitely faster, it doesn't feel like an extra ten thousand dollars worth of fun. I have the 5 speed manual myself, and I've beaten similar year Camaro SS and Dodge R/Ts without redlining or pushing to the max. The other day I just barely beat a SRT8 Challenger, it even surprised me. I got clapped by a Subaru with AWD though, so there's always that. I live in Louisiana, so I'm very sea level, even below LOL. Also, the 2010 gets to 60mph in about 4.9s, which is nothing to laugh at, but that's in good conditions launching at about 2100RPM. With a smaller tire, decent prep, and good weather, I think we'd all be impressed at what that car could do 0-60 in. Also keep in mind that the thing weights about 3600 wet, no driver. Take the spare and all the other crap out, and you're super light compared to the GMs and Chryslers. Camaro about 4100-4200lbs, and Challengers around 4200-4400. Even though they eclipse the Stang's power, they are basically carrying a 700-800lb weight. Adding 100ish HP doesn't do much when you also add 700 pounds to your car. I've been chopped by plenty of cars, but I have also been surprised to what I can still outrun. 2010 model year is pretty nice, personally I prefer the body over the 05-09. Both are nice though. My favorite is when some loud ass truck is next to me revving and he thinks I'm slow as fuck cause my car looks faded and stock, which it is, and I just clap his cheeks when the light turns green. Unless of course I fail the launch in spectacular fashion and look like a dipshit. When I get it right though, can't lie, feel like Dale or Senna, lol.

6:47 you're describing runner length based on air velocity. It's more about rpm. When the intake valve closes incoming air is suddenly forced to stop and compresses against it. This creates a pressure wave that is reflected back up the runner. When the signal reaches the end of the runner it is reflected back toward the intake valve again (see diffuser). This precharges the incoming air. To optimize air flow you want the intake valve to be opened as the reflected pressure wave is incoming. Higher RPM means that a shorter distance is needed for the pressure wave (signal) to travel. That's why short runners work at higher rpm. Longer runners are found on vehicles requiring more low end torque. Torque is a function of cylinder fill. Forced induction torque curves are so different because cylinder fill is less dependent on rpm. Then, horsepower is torque x rpm. I have a sheet metal intake on my LS1. PCV system on these allows a lot of oil into the intake. I was missing a manifold bolt, and this resulted in an oil leak. It didn't occur that an intake gasket leak would cause a mystery oil spray mess. When I put a new bolt in the problem went away. I've known for a while about the whole runner length thing I described, but I didn't think it made that much pressure. Trust me it's substantial. Excellent work on your 3V btw.

@SiriusC1024

@@Four_Eyes That is interesting. I wouldn't have expected dips in torque curves. If I had to guess an intake runner has to chosen based on wave number of the compression. 1st order would be a little over 14 ft for 4800rpm. Obviously runners are much shorter. The question is how to calculate the runner harmonics and apply it in the real world. I'm beginning to wonder if it so complex that the work is done empirically, as in your link. The problem is difficult enough simply assuming the speed of sound at STP conditions. Further calculations have to be done to find the pulse width. Then apply that over an rpm range. MAP sensors don't account for acoustics...

I'd consider this particular set up if I were content with the 4.6l 3 valves maximum n/a output of about 430 crank hp. Realistically, it is an adequate amount of horsepower for fun. Good build. Ford Racing had a package like this available a couple years ago, and the power your making is what they advertised. Right on. . .

@@fritzjean-philippe2464 that's exactly what I always say. But if u bring the fenders and wheels out and black the rims. Nice wing. Rtr grill. Nice hood. Itll look better. But I hate to say mustang still is behind. Taillights look like a step behind the 14. Headlights still need something new. The fog lights look like early 2000s. The Camaro charger and challenger looks better and newer. Sadly. I feel like the s550 should've been the 05-09 model. Especially how the headlights are.

I heard 2V makes power way easier and smoother than the 3 valve due to the design, you should race a similarly powered 2V from the model before and see how y’all do.

All motor just isn't cost effective in those things. Forge the bottom end and boost it over 600hp edit: the 03-04 cams run out of steam after 5800 rpm even though the recline stretches to 7k, because the cams are borrowed from the cobra.

That 3.7 imho is the bang for your buck. Damned things are a dime a dozen where I live and I imagine in other states like Florida they probably are even less $$. I think if I was getting a 2013 I might consider that 3.7, super cheap. The 4.0 was a good engine if I am not mistaken but it had stigma in the Mustang community and just wasn't up to snuff for the car to have. I used to own one, it was fine but paired with an auto it wasn't the most fun to drive. it was pretty good though.

Great video. Useful info, clearly explained, and right to the point... it's obvious you know what you're talking about, which can be rare with YT car/ modding content... BTW, totally agree about the 05-09's... they're a clean, beautiful car. The 4.6's are fantastic, durable, fun engines even if the newer stuff makes more power... and they've really proven themselves in NASA's Spec Iron Mustang racing series.
