What made the All Blacks in the previous decade great was the fact that they won their game after 60 minutes. Their subs took the game to another level and intensity no other team could handle. The current AB team did not take it up another gear but held and stumbled leading to SA success in the final 20 min. That’s what’s making SA brilliant now too.
@nealprinsloo80762 ай бұрын
When you actually get yourself listening to the detailed content of what you present here, it actually sinks in that this is more than two teams playing against each other, more than a game of rugby, more than the spectacle of sport that is presented on our televisions, so hard t describe what this game means, what sport means... coming from Kariega, South Africa.

Love it! Noticing things again for the first time and for the first time on repeat! Falling in love 😂 The tough old rock solid grubby rugby work at rucks appreciated! Definitive ideas for the complainers around kicking strategies, highly appreciated. Plus, where kicks can take teams, emotionally, territorially, physically. The relationship between scoreboard-context, attrition and skill beautifully explained regarding these kicks. I played hooker in high school and never understood these things until coaching high school and through your great analyses! 🫶🔥🇿🇦🏉🙌 Thank you! It was beautiful as a loyal Bok and rugby supporter to see the Boks battle back to break hearts with the win. 2015 ABs would never have let this happen. Sheer determination and trust in this team. Culture and eyes-up rugby! 🏉 REALLY looking forward to tomorrow’s game. Can the Boks close-out the Championship? I really hope so 🙏 I believe they can. Going to be an epic battle at 11,14,15 for both teams! Love the Bulls and Crusader pairings plus that other x-factor guy for each side 😅 🤩

As an ABs fan, watching our bench throw away the game while SA bench stormed home was frustrating to say the least. I don’t disagree with a lot of this analysis, however the inexperience of two ABs bench players needed to be highlighted more closely and their decision making which ultimately cost us the game. At 16:44, for some reason Ratima is in the pocket instead of doing his job at halfback? You can see Ardie gesturing to him to go up to the maul and Jordie is to Ardie’s left who is in a good position to take a clearing kick but instead Ratima stands his ground and calls for the ball. The pass was poor from the forward, unsurprisingly, and his kick gets partially charged down. As we know a penalty is given away which leads to the first come back try. Then Finau at 19:02 being told twice to get out of the maul and for some reason playing ignorant to the refs instructions gives away the penalty which leads to the match winning try. Wow! just dumb decision making all round. Simply put the ABs bench had zero to negative impact under pressure while SA was far superior with their experience and composure.

I just loved seeing how Caleb Clarke got trip tackled over the in goal area, legally, by SFM and then later tackled by Cheslin Kolbe right on the edge of the try area so that it made it much harder for DMac to convert. He didn't convert either of Clarke's tries which is four points altogether and they lost by four points. Meaning at no point did Springboks think "Ah well if they get two points, what's the difference?" Because Rassie and Co. will know from 2018 two points could be the difference between a win and a draw or a loss. So it's better to be safe than sorry. Rassie is safe when it comes to scoreboard pressure, but hard on the pitch itself. And he is not sorry for being Rassie. He is a mastermind and we love him for it. And of course it only helps if you have the right tools in your belt and you use them in the best ways possible.

This Boks side reminds me of how good the 2015 All Blacks were. You could be leading and winning the game for 70 minutes, but in the last 10 they would refuse to loose and comeback to beat you despite you having the better game. Shows an unrelenting and powerful team that can be second best on the day and still pull off the win. Congrats SA 🇿🇦❤
