Yes, squirrels have tough bodies that work great in the forest. As a kid on a small farm in New England, I used to spend a lot of time in the woods. Occasionally, a squirrel would not reach the branch and come crashing to the ground. Crashing on the ground on a soft forest floor is not the same as being hurled without concern of the soft landing is cruel. Also, squirrels are not thrown laterally in a forest. Falling straight down onto a soft forest is not the same as being accelerated very fast in a lateral direction by a sling-shot. Also, when a squirrel falls in the forest, it's initial speed is zero and it accelerates from that point on down. A sling-shot propels the squirrel at max speed when it leaves the sling-shot and slows in flight. One of the videos was trying to "dunk" the squirrel into his swimming pool. After several tries that missed the pool and landed on bare concrete he succeeded. However, the area around the concrete had all kinds of things which could injure the squirrel on landing. Many of the video makers on KZbin don't care. I would love to have enough land to make a sling-shot to let squirrels have the time of their life.
