Your journey reminds me same condition for train connecting cities in Java before 2014 (before current administration). Now train ticket are sold online, clean, fullAC, one ticket one chair, no more standing. Air BnB there is amazing. How much per night for a house with 3 bedroom like that?

Originally, Kottu was more a favorite street food for the locals, after having a few drinks or an after party hearty meal. It has become more main stream now as it has taken off with the boost in tourism. Very simple to make. You can get Veggie Kottu, or you choice of meats and seafood as well. Great stuff!

@connersullivan..FYI: commenting the video u had posted..it was exactly the look of Indonesian train 10 years ago, where passengers could buy from parties of people whom sell the train tickets illegally, which later, causes the train to be packed n over its normal capacity. I've had been experiencing the same thing as u did when I was in elementary school. It wasn't a pleasant experience for me and my brother, because at that time there were no AC in the train. So, you can imagine how hot it was inside the train and we had to stand it for 12 hours before we arrieved in Jakarta. I had to experience it whenever my parents took me to Jakarta for the end academic year holiday. But nowadays are way better. I'm glad that Indonesia is making improvement in many lines. I'm from Surabaya, Indonesia btw. Nice to meet you ☺

Fathi Rizqi Ananda the reason is that a lot of people in Sri Lanka r used to the squat toilet than the sitting toilet... but foreigners r used to use sitting toilets so the government makes 2 separate toilets for each one in public places...

@@shainiayodya4030 okay, pretty good explanation :) In Indonesia, in modern places like train stations, offices, malls, and airport, we do have both variant, but rather than making a separate "foreigners toilet" we just for example, provide 3 toilet stalls (in each room for each gender), then we give one a sitting toilet and the rest squatting toilets, in some places there could only be sitting toilets while in some other public places where they never expected foreigners there could only be squatting ones. Younger Indonesians usually won't have difficulties using each type of toilets.

@@XFTFX this a railway station that was built 1908.Even in modern places in Sri Lanka like multimodal transport hubs, shopping complexes have much better toilets and resting areas.Dont judge everything in Sri Lanka by just this old colonial railway station.Sri Lanka has a much better human development index ,GDP per capita , literacy rate compared to Indonesia.Also in Sri Lanka, urbanization hasn't gone messy and wrong like in Jakarta.We don't have crippling poverty big slum population.
