I adore the live version, where he speaks from his heart at songs end. He is so into it that when done and thunderous applause happen, he looks up like, oh yeah, you guys are here, and states,"its the truth". Powerful. Ripped my guts out and made me happy at the same time. What a gift our Lord shared with us. Amen.

SRV would be the first to say he never liked or wanted to be a God. It made him uncomfortable being compared to the real God. That being said I totally agree he was/is special.. Not a day goes by i don't play his music, think of him and his family and grief at what could have been and never will be. Solace only comes from the fact that his music still lives and his message is still being felt. A greater bluesman there will never be. A tortured soul his life except for those four years know resides his soul in heaven. Unfair! Yes! SRV ❤ lives in us. Love and miss you every day. RIP SRV

I was introduced to Stevie Ray's music shortly after his death. I thought, "Why have I not heard of him before." I have been playing guitar since I was about 8 yrs old and love his style.(raising a family had me so consumed) After viewing some interviews , here tonight, I see what a real person with a good heart he was. I agree with him, You must feel it in your heart to get it out there. After listening to "Life Without You" tonight, I couldn't help but tear up, for this loss. Also I noticed we have the same birthday, which blows me away. I'm sure he is content now in heaven, and hope to meet him one day. God Bless You.......Stevie Ray Vaughn. Your friend, Billy Gray

February 7th 1987, at the Saenger theater in Pensacola Florida. There were no reserved seats, so my friends and i, there were 4 of us, we got in line right behind these young guys from the navy. Sometimes in life, going all the way back in time, someone, maybe the Creator, sent people with special abilities to help the masses; Gallieo, Einstien, Billy Holiday, Hendrix, Sinatra, James Cagney, Clapton, Jesus, Muhammed , Joan of Arc, and oh so many more. I am just saying that I. like so many others, still wonder why Stevie was taken in a freak accident and I have concluded that his "Time" was up. For me, I almost drowned when I was seven and I was in a violent head on collision but I guess my time was not up then. And I am thankful that I was alive and awake to witness first hand the advent of this Guitarist and how he became a much better guitar player. I still listen to him almost every day. So, for all the souls who came to earth to help alleviate the pain, advance the cause, provided leadership, entertainment, made sacrifices for the good of mankind and I miss them , and Stevie very much. anthony

This was originally released on Soul to Soul (1985), not In Step (1989). The correct reference above to The Fire Meets the Fury album is taken from the tour of the same name, which included Jeff Beck as the other artist, trading places as the lead act, which was a part of Stevie's full In Step tour.

All of you young people that think your current music sucks are pretty much right. They have a few good real bands that are new but gems are rare.
