In my humble opinion, the music of Stevie Ray Vaughn has not received the recognition it deserves. Nevertheless it was, and is, pure genius.

I think the music industry was very jealous of stevie. With all the big names working against him he made it. A true great bluesman not another guitar player can touch him.

OK, now that I have collected myself... what an absolute beauty SRV was and will always be. I want to put out an idea....to make Stevie Ray Vaughan a Saint. All you need is three miracles, and I think there was at least 88 of them in this performance alone!! Seriously though, he was an angel on earth wanting and trying to help anyone he could overcome their demons through pure inspiration....that is the ultimate wonder of SRV. Just when you thought Stevie could not have been more inspired and amazing, once he got sober, he took it to another level entirely. The tragedy of his passing was that he was one of the few guitar players (or musicians PERIOD) who was creating a completely new style, and we can only imagine how amazing it would have been had he been able to continue. I am not a very religious person, but God bless you Stevie.

U know I'm skeptical of god and higher powers and all and then along comes someone like Stevie Ray and u know that he was special he had the power and was fuckin amazing and I'm blessed to have stood and watch him play at a little nite club in san marcos w/ about a dozen folks all of us saying who is this dude where is he from and then watch him over the next few years blaze a trail of glory-Wow!

Stephen Bird let me tell there is a hugher power I had him show himself to me people laugh and will call u crazy when u say something like that until it happens to them. After it happened i turned around and it was confirmed to 3 times that what i judt seen was real and it freaked me out cuz i started to doubt it. Once that conformation was shown i had not one shred of doubt. I think he knew i would have excused it away if he didnt do it the way he did. Please knw im not full of shit

This was originally released on Soul to Soul (1985), not In Step (1989). The correct reference above to The Fire Meets the Fury album is taken from the tour of the same name, which included Jeff Beck as the other artist, trading places as the lead act, which was a part of Stevie's full In Step tour. Personally, I love these later versions of this song, when Stevie was clean and sober. Interestingly, he always had a moment in the song where he spoke of loving thy neighbor. But after he sobered up, it was a chance to speak of self-love, or loathing, and the effects of drugs on not being able to love thy neighbor. He was not only an incredible guitar player, singer, song writer. He was a genuinely loving person, and you can hear it.

Stand up and LIVE for those who you care for and in memory for those you have lost. That is the message of this fantastic song. IMHO: one of Stevies best

this was from the 1985 montreaux show , I have the entire concert, and he says the exact thing as he does here. In the 1987 concert march in daytona beach florida, his qoute was almost better. He said , "we only have one thing in life to give, and thats a bunch of love, it's all we come into the world with, its all we go out with , lets spread some around while were here." `1987 SRV

To me this was his best song, I love this version . The way he played and his solo in this was just amazing. What he said to was just the truth. Allot of people don't find their way back from addiction. We always see people writing stuff about his drug use. He was sober and playing his best music in the end. God how i miss watching him play. I love this song from him. God bless him and his family. Jimmy Vaughan keep his name alive.

"Life Without You" was a song Stevie wrote after the untimely death of his great friend and mentor Charley Wirz. the song shows his love for Charley and how much he truly missed him. The White Stratocaster Vaughan played that was fitted with Danelectro Lipstick Tube Pickups was made by Wirz with the help of Stevie's Guitar Tech Rene Martinez. (thanks, nik - Spartanburg, SC)

i was lucky enough to see SRV live in '89 chicago at the u.i.c. pavillion (i worked as an usher) and remember this song vividly. i didn't know the title back then but it was so powerful & stevie played it beautifully. There were a bunch of great ones that night but this one stuck with me. I'd remember it months later when he was taken away from us. The song means a lot to me and his message remains strong 24 years and a lot of life experience later. He was Thanks for uploading and sharing this.
