Thanks for putting this up. St Vincent is truly a guitar genius. She has a very alien way of putting together songs, but they work. What way too many people don't get about St Vincent is they think it's cacophony. It's not. Not in the least. She can tell you exactly what she's playing an why. ...and duplicate it repeatedly. @brayans28593 жыл бұрын
Minor 2nds aren't a thing, that's probably why the guy sounds so confused when she says it. The second degree of the scale is the same in minor and major scales. It is flattened in modes such as Phrygian but then it is referred to as b2 and not minor 2nd. If anything this shows that she doesn't understand the theory behind what she is playing.
@101Volts3 жыл бұрын
@@brayans2859 "Minor 2nds," or maybe she means a flat 2nd; the note just 1 note above the root note. Not that I know much if anything about "music theory," that's just the best I can guess.
@nickmetts4 ай бұрын
@@brayans2859you obviously haven’t studied music theory: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semitone#Minor_second She used the correct term. The reason why the guy sounded confused/surprised is that a minor second is a very dissonant interval. Most guitarists use 3rds, 6ths, or 4ths an 5ths.

@@big_ol_ball838 I like her as a studio artist. Which makes it even worse because she’s clearly talented and knows how to play, but chooses to do this instead.
