My dad's favorite band was Led Zepplin. Had all their records, listened to them all the time. He said that when he died, he wanted Stairway To Heaven played at his funeral. October of 2013 he got his wish. It's hard to listen to this song, even today. But every time I hear it, I'm back in my childhood home, in the living room where I first remember hearing this song. And he's there. Happy and laughing. Led Zepplin holds a special place in my heart, and I'm super glad I stumbled onto your channel. And I'm excited for this little series you're doing.

The ‘look to the west’ line always makes me tremble and sometimes cry. It’s such a weird visceral reaction, but as someone raised on Star Wars and desperate to breakout of my comfortable, cushy cage of a life, it always gets me

I think of LOTR with that line. Of the Elves (except for Arwen) are looking to the West, to the Sea, to their home of Valinor

“There’s a feeling I get when I look to the west” always hits me so hard for some reason. It’s so melancholic yet exiting at the same time, it makes me want to go out and explore the wild and breath in the fresh air while looking over a valley with morning mist and silver sun and wind upon my hair. Such a powerful lyric!

In the occult the four points of the compass are a big deal. If you watch concert footage of Zep at this time, Jimmy Page always "creates" an incantation space using the bow he played guitar with. Those people were unknowingly taking part in Ceremonial Majick; opening a door for something to pass through. Enjoy it but be aware and protect yourself at the same time. (music industry alum).

I always saw the song as escaping addiction! the beginning line "she's buying a Stairway to Heaven" is getting a fix, and the line "the Pipers calling you to join him" that's self-destructive addiction, and the line "there's still time to change the road you're on!?" is the Moment of clarity!, and "to be a rock and not to roll" is the conviction of staying sober / clean!

What I find particularly interesting about this song is that, contrary to the allegations that it has hidden demonic messages, it's main theme is quite moral and even noble: you can't buy your way into heaven, no matter how you try to rationalize otherwise, but you can change-it's never to late to choose to be better.

The part about Plant's "abstract" writing is exactly what I was thinking about while on a Zepp binge not long ago. Many Progressive bands during that era, for example Genesis wrote some very detailed in- depth, and somewhat comic/odd lyrics.While Zeppelin originally was more bluesy and less refined in their lyrics, I think that their third album is where Plant/Page first start writing about more in-depth meaningful topics, or often Medieval-ish Viking fairy tale style lyrics, much like Genesis. The difference is that Plant wrote much differently that Peter Gabriel, using that abstract style of writing that was unique to him, which really allow listeners to make their own opinions on the meaning of the song.

The reason it says "your head is humming and it won't go" is because sometimes people hear a humming sound and some people believe that it is a spirit trying to talk to them , in this case is the piper trying to talk to the lady shown by " in case you don't know, the piper's calling you to join him" some believe that the piper is not an angel from heaven though but I'll let you be the judge off that.

There's a lady who's sure All that glitters is gold And she's buying a stairway to heaven When she gets there she knows If the stores are all closed With a word she can get what she came for Oh oh oh oh and she's buying a stairway to heaven There's a sign on the wall But she wants to be sure 'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings In a tree by the brook There's a songbird who sings Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiving Ooh, it makes me wonder Ooh, it makes me wonder There's a feeling I get When I look to the west And my spirit is crying for leaving In my thoughts I have seen Rings of smoke through the trees And the voices of those who standing looking Ooh, it makes me wonder Ooh, it really makes me wonder And it's whispered that soon, If we all call the tune Then the piper will lead us to reason And a new day will dawn For those who stand long And the forests will echo with laughter If there's a bustle in your hedgerow Don't be alarmed now It's just a spring clean for the May queen Yes, there are two paths you can go by But in the long run There's still time to change the road you're on And it makes me wonder Your head is humming and it won't go In case you don't know The piper's calling you to join him Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow And did you know Your stairway lies on the whispering wind And as we wind on down the road Our shadows taller than our soul There walks a lady we all know Who shines white light and wants to show How everything still turns to gold And if you listen very hard The tune will come to you at last When all are one and one is all To be a rock and not to roll And she's buying the stairway to heaven

Unfortunately its why KZbin will forever hold a monopoly. The free video streaming service idea is terrible as a business. KZbin took about a decade to start breaking even, just so happened that it had deep pocketed backers to support it. Now we have a broken and crap service that makes watching videos we want difficult that makes it hard to be a content creator to which the only alternatives are ones you have to pay for. There's already netflix and prime and disney plus and etc etc etc etc so how on Earth everyone is going to be able to keep up with all these subscriptions is far beyond me. Welcome to 2019 guys, the internet has become the new cable television, pick which channels you want
@Payin_Attention5 жыл бұрын
@@danevans3333 Correct. Google loses money on KZbin simply to keep it going as a "free" video streaming service, thereby being able to squash content that goes against their postmodernist politics. So long as KZbin exists there's no hope for a service like Nebula, even though $5/month is a very fair price. And I can prove i'm correct because BitChute, which is also free and pledges not to censor like KZbin does, is routinely vilified in the media as "Muh Knot-zeeez." This is to keep anyone who doesn't want to be thought of as a bad person from checking out the site.

@@GuilleSMasini Yeah that's true. He said he said he never saw anything special in it, he must be hearing a different song in that case haha

Guillermo Masini...I think Robert's just sick and tired of only being known for that one song. Millions of fans and music lovers know better, but the ignorant media and others haven't got a clue about him or his music...

Great job I'm 57 Zepplin could never get old because each time you listen to their songs, they mean something different what's going on in your Life, Music is almost a lost art sad thing with out music there is nothing, Music is the Universal language Peace out !!~
