The Model 37, like the Winchester Model 1892, does not have a trigger disconnector in the real-world weapons. This allows the shotgun to fire immediately when a round is pumped into a chamber when the trigger is held back. If you are fast (and i have seen guys who are very fast with this feature) a pump-action shotgun doing the 'slam-fire' this way can put a hail of buckshot downrange very quickly.

Michael Biehn used Ithaca 37s in both 'The Terminator' and 'Aliens', so maybe James Cameron has a thing for that model. The one Dwayne Hicks uses as a backup weapon is the Stakeout model with a 14" barrel and stockless pistol grip (what old-timers called a "whippet gun" configuration). It was given the name "Stakeout" because it could be held at the ready inside a vehicle during a stakeout. According to my research, that is. 0:44 Keep the stubby barrel and put a stock on it, then it would be classified as an "entry gun." I'm not sure if the "Stakeout" moniker applies to the long-barrel variant since you can swap out different grips and stocks on any Ithaca 37 (true for most of the more common pump guns). Kinda like how the Mossberg 500 is called "Persuader" when it has a stock and "Cruiser" when it has a stockless pistol grip. Stocks are always preferable to stockless pistol grips. 0:49 It'll hold five if you load the chamber first. Since it's a bottom-ejector, the way you'd get a full load is: insert one shell, cycle the action, then load the rest. The M&P variant ("Military and Police"), the one Kyle Reese uses in 'The Terminator', has a 20" barrel with a flush-fit magazine tube. Uses standard-length shells only (no 3" Magnums), which is true for all variants of the Ithaca 37, and it holds a total of eight shells (7+1). 1:05 Only rookies reload "wrong-handed" like that, especially with guns that aren't even front-heavy. Also notice how yer dude changes the position of his support hand, grasping the gun by the middle (around the barrel and the mag tube). Good thing the barrel has a heat shield! That leather strap with the shell loops that's wrapped around the gun is also stupid and it looks like it probably obstructs your sight picture. Hip-fire is not standard procedure IRL. Having a foregrip on a stockless shotgun is a good idea because it puts the support arm in a more natural position to absorb recoil. *Note:* And of course, this is one of those games that makes yer dude cycle the action of a pump shotgun even when there's already a fresh shell in the chamber. With any type of firearm, when you do a tactical reload, you don't need to cycle the action because there's already a cartridge in the chamber. With fixed-tube guns, tactical reloads are also called "topping off the mag" or "topping off the tube." 1:19 Shouldn't the Olympia have that? Or would that have been too obvious, logical, and/or competent? Technically, barrel length doesn't affect spread. It does, however, affect inertia. Since, for whatever reason, shotgun shells still use relatively slow-burning powder (compared to rifle cartridges), a barrel that's too long or too short will result in a reduction in effective range. Acktually, that's true for all firearms, but especially shotguns (for reasons aforementioned). That's why purpose-built combat shotguns typically have barrel lengths between 14" and 20". Underslung shotguns attached to host rifles are classified as "breaching shotguns" and are typically used as tools rather than weapons. They'd still be highly effective as weapons within their intended range of use, just not as effective as dedicated combat shotguns. 1:23 Fairly typical for FPS games that came out around this time. Tragically, that's even true for all of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. Personally, I've never understood the logic behind that. 1:50 Peak-human dexterity. 2:40 Why is a right-handed character wearing a thigh holster left-handed? I wanna see more left-handed (and/or ambidextrous) characters in FPS games! So far, all we've got is John McClane in Die Hard: Takatomi Plaza (which is authentic since Bruce Willis is left-handed). Also, those duds (brown bomber jacket with blue jeans) remind me of MacGyver and that's awesome! *Note:* Notice how the forearm is in its rearward position when the character is viewed in third-person. 3:25 Their effective range is nerfed in vidya games for no reason. 6:31 Paul Harrell could hit four targets in one second with a "trombone gun."

Steady Aim Pro is WAY better. Shotguns do NOTHING through any cover. When you don't have time to aim, it will help, and faster sprint recovery will help a trillion more times than hardened would.

Super Mahilo "Shotguns do NOTHING through any cover" thats call of duty logic, it would be a miracle if the shotguns can even barely penetrate the wooden walls on firing range (with or without the hardened perk). In real life a few shotgun blasts can easily destroy obstacles like fences and drywalls and sheetmetal, while in cod the most you get are broken windows and scratch damage on surfaces which disappears after 2-3 minutes.

In my opinion, steady aim fits the lightweight - marathon setup better, because of the pro version that makes the gun that you are holding raise quicker after sprinting, helps you to survive more 50/50 combats.

This is my hands down favorite Black Ops gun. Great in multiplayer and especially zombies. Even capable of a double kill if you're fast or lucky enough. I didn't think it was possible. I remember getting one against two enemies with automatic weapons.

Thing I love about the Stakeout is it is a great gun. Beats almost every gun in the game in the right hands. Love even more that because of its fire rate your accuracy gets a huge boost. My accuracy in one match was 94% full match start to end on domination with it. Besides just being kick ass and beast it really helps you learn to aim your shots with speed and skill. A+ video as well. Personally, still prefer slight of hand, but that's just me.

The M40A3 with ACOG was only used because of a damage glitch. The damage was upped to 75 solely for the M40A3 when you put the ACOG scope on it. That means when you use stopping power, which boosts damage by 40%, with said setup, you actually deal 105 damage per shot. This lead to it being a one-shot kill weapon even if they shot your foot.

I love using the stakeout with lightweight pro, steady aim pro, and marathon pro. Works great because the stakeout I can run to the side and sneak around for a flank, aim and shoot immediately as soon as I see someone (because of steady aim pro), have a tight enough spread that I can guarantee a kill even if they are hiding behind cover, and run away or even jump down from above for a flank from above (thanks to lightweight pro).

In close quarter maps such as Nuketown and Firing Range, the Ithaca M37 "Stakeout" is borderline unstoppable. There is one thing that bothers me immensely about it in Black Ops. In real life, similar to the Winchester M1897 Trench Shotgun, the Ithaca M37 had a slam-fire mode, meaning that as long as you held down the trigger, pumping would fire the gun. The Stakeout in Black Ops... just doesn't have that feature. Come to think of it, neither did the M1897 in World at War, which really sucks, because slam-fire was what made the Trench Gun what it was.

My Steakout class: -Steakout w/Grip -Python w/ACOG (excellent for picking off stationary/camping enemies outside of your range. -Equipment is Tac Insert, Stuns, and Tomahawk for enemies just out of reach in a pinch. Perks- Lightweight (for closing the distance fast), Slight of Hand (I think it's stupid to rely on penetration with a shotgun even with hardened), and Hacker (allows infiltration of popular camping spots without being killed by claymores or detected with motion sensors.

I think ballistics knife and tomohawk are more effective if you can use them. They help you a lot in long range and if you combine them with stuns, you can throw one making the shot much more easier.

When I use this gun I use Flak Jacket instead of Lightweight for my first perk. Lightweight would be a good perk choice but as he said in the tutorial for the Enfield, you want to get as close to the enemy as possible and not risk incoming explosions.

Hmmm, with this gun here's my perk set up Scavenger-Stakeout has a small amount of ammo, and so this is a must do Steady Aim- With grip, you have a dead on shot every time Marathon_ Sprint further so you can make it across open areas

Both are useful. Hardened pro you should consider though. Prevents that all important first shot you have going off target if the enemy is shooting at you.

Personally the Stakeout is a fun gun yet it’s a bit inconsistent with lack of attachments I think it would be better if they added different ammunition types the gun would be more fun. I use it for aggressive play, for perks I use scavenger, sleight of hand and ninja.

Reload is already fast enough since there's only 4 cartridges. And the first one reloaded is faster than the others too, so if you need only one or two cartridges it takes less than 2 seconds, in other words less than a SMG.

The minimum and maximum range for the shotguns, at least the longer ranged ones (SPAS-12, USAS-12), are fine how they are. And as I said, the smaller maps in CoD, especially in MW3, support shotgun use.

With the stakeout, I think I'll use it as the support weapon. Lightweight Pro, Scout Pro, Ninja Pro (with a high quality surround sound headset) with a motion sensor, or like with your guide on the WA2000, Scavenger Pro, Scout Pro, Tac Mask Pro, clearing rooms with ease this way.

Sir, I have well over 7000 kills with the stakeout. I am aware that the Stakeout needs much precision but it does not always need to be aimed down the sights unless the marksmen is unfamiliar with such a weapon. The law makes a better secondary to take out spy planes to remain hidden aswell at disperse small groups. The perks and other details remain my trade secret. Let's just say it's nothing you recommended.

I still like the Olympia better. You should do one of these on the Stoner63. It is severely underrated. I could tell you what is best for this class because I believe I am an expert of the gun because 6,000 of my 7,000 kills came from using the Stoner63.

Steady aim is better than both hardened and soh, the aiming faster after sprinting of SA is faster then after sprinting with SoH, and hip fire with steady aim while not moving gives a better spead then with aiming

I'm beast with the Stakeout - Class set of Lightweight, Sleight of Hand, and Ninja (usually all pro) - i recommend the ACOG scope on the Python for you need a good weapon for distance shots --- Hardened may be used too since i find it doubles the shot guns range (NOTE: Hardened doesn't increase damage it only increases BULLET PENETRATION - hardened pro is basically useless)

No disrespect, but I find this better: Stakeout - Grip M72 LAW (Because Sleight of hand and shell-by-shell reload usually help avoid getting caught) Tomahawk (For enemies to far away) Concussion (tTo give you time to close in) C4 (Very helpful to get campers) Flak Jacket (When sprinting, you take A LOT of damage, so it helps) Sleight of Hand Marathon (to make up for not having lightweight), Tactical Mask (same as Flak Jacket), or SitRep (to spot Claymores
