I don't know why there would be a shortage of bread in France, maybe it is because it's a little store that makes it's own bread every day and has plenty of customers. I live in the Netherlands and that is not far away from France and we have plenty of bread, there is a smaller store in my neighborhood that just makes enough bread for the day so sometimes they don't have all the bread in stock. The bread in the EU is not like bread in America, you have to eat it within a couple of days or It will grow fungus so lots of people buy fresh bread everyday or every other day.

This is so true. No disgusting ingredients in French food. They have proper food restrictions, and are healthier as a result. 😊

Bill really? Yes I would to if we had bakers in most US cities and towns making bread as good as their's is. Fresh baked that day. Some cheese and delicious meat. And a bottle or two of wine 🍷 with your lady? Damm straight I'd wait in linne for that. Hell your in Paris, enjoy the day my friend. 😂

Now, I can understand why Mr. Engvall is mystified by the folks standing line for bread. But that’s cool - it’s a very European thing. The bread, by the way, is really good! Not at all what you’d get in a supermarket (in either the US or France). Plus, that’s how they live there. When we lived in the Netherlands I’d go out in the afternoon and buy fixings for dinner and breakfast. I did that a) because all those fresh ingredients were EXCELLENT and b) the place we were living was so small there was no place to keep groceries. I hope Mr. Engvall finds more “crazy” French things to post. Wait until he sees the crepe stands - like hot dog stands but they sell crepes. 😀

Hi Bill....interesting that the French word for bread is "pain". I thought that was kind of funny considering having to line up for it. What a pain! Take cre.

Bill, France has laws about what the bread can be made out of. If you are going to a dinner party and bringing a baguette then it needs to be from the last baking of the day. The French can tell the difference. They don't mess around with their bread.
