"Warp factor 2 Mr. Sulu set course for starbase........4". "Captain." "Yes cadet what is it?" "Sir I don't know how this happened but there is a possibility that some of the people of Charon were able to leave the planet to preserve their race." "How did you find out about this?" "Someone I know said that some on both sides had banded together to save each other while the rest annihilated each other." "I'm sure you can tell us about it at star base 4 thank you cadet that is all."

In the Star Trek novel "No Time Like the Past", Kirk briefly swung by Cheron again and scans revealed Bele and Lokai had set up base on opposite sides of the planet. Maybe these two clowns finally found something they could agree upon - stay away from each other. At any rate, their presence is why the Federation still avoids Cheron, even in Seven of Nine's time.

The Democrats should watch this episode. They were directly responsible back in 2020 for all the race riots and ordered complete police departments to do absolutely nothing, just letting the rioters completely burn down all the stores and inflict physical injuries on countless Americans.

I never understood why the writers made their chase over 50,000 years. It seems ridiculous, I mean 50 years seems more possible. Plus the planet was still on fire when they got there, did the conflict happen 50,000 years ago or just recently? @@Professor_Fate True, but even then, it's likely that they're several thousand Earth years old. Let's assume that their biology is similar enough to ours that they require liquid water to survive. This means that Charon must have had liquid water for much of its history. In the real world, of all the exoplanets that orbit within their stars' habitable zone (i.e. where liquid water can exist), the one with the shortest year that I could find is Kepler-1649c, with a year of 19.5 Earth days. Let's assume that 19.5 is the lower bound on how short a year can be for a planet without orbiting so close that liquid water becomes impossible. In that case, Bele was chasing Lokai for 50,000 Charonian years, or 50,000 x 19.5 Earth days, or 975,000 Earth days, or 2,669.4 Earth years. So Bele started chasing Lokai around the Earth year 400 BCE. Thank you for coming to my TED talk. 🙂

This was one of the dumbest Star Trek episodes. A 10 year old is more intelligent or more aware than Beal. His arguments, his ideas don’t makes sense. One could pretend to believe these things, to ‘support a side’ but his apparent illogic is too profound to consider. The episode is an insult to viewers, or anyone not stupid. A 10 year old could see that. Watching as a 50 year old, this is a good episode. The emotions at least feel real. The plot device, or whatever, where Beal and Loki are super-powerful, works. You can disagree with the episode, or recognize it as stupid and insulting, or like it very much, as an old man. Either way. But the ending, where both are trotting after one another through the halls of the ship and then the planet, this may be one of the most moving scenes ever shown on television.

@@mattlebaron exactly the problem is Humanity cannot abandon its tribalism it can't abandon emotion for the sake of logic and reason and I'll tell you why it is the coldness of the human soul that the Democrats and Republicans but mostly the Democrats more recently have embraced because they want a public apology for January 6th. they want theater. And to see either the Republicans become extinct or reformed and to become the "pets" / servants of the Democratic Party
@als3022
@als3022 4 ай бұрын
Humans are naturally tribal because the human mind can only really empathize, truly empathize (Not pretend empathize to look good) with a small number of people. Its where the statement "The death of a single person is a tragedy, the death of a million a statistic." Our minds may abstractly understand how horrible that is, and visualization helps, but a single story has more bang at times because it's personal. Another note is that we are a social creature and instinctively make bonds with others of our kind for survival. However, resources are limited. And bonds and loyalties go only to a certain number of people of either similar physicality or beliefs.
