Not selling the franchise to Disney would've been priority number one.

Great video! Never realized how little time the main 3 characters actually spent together. I always thought an interesting ending would be to focus on the "balance" part of the chosen one prophecy. Not have light defeat dark or dark defeat light but having both coexist through either Rey learning and both sides or Rey and Kylo working together, one using the light side and the other using the dark side finally bringing balance to the force.

Thanks for the kind words! You make a great point. I didn't think about that, but they never really did bring that balance, did they?

The only choice that would’ve made these sequels better would’ve been to use George Lucas’s story treatment. The fact that they rejected the story written by the original creator is mind-boggling.

One change I'd have done is that I'd cut off the death fake-out with Poe in the first movie, after him and Finn crash on Jakku, and I'd have him come out of the ship alongside Finn and stay with him to go meet Rey. That way he'd get more screen time with both Finn and Rey, they'd already have the main trio of protagonists set up from the start (so it would be Rey, Finn, and Poe, like how before it was Luke, Leia, and Han), and they could have Poe be the one who pilots the Millennium Falcon during the escape instead of Rey (which would make it more believable that they actually managed to escape, since Poe actually has piloting experience, so it feels less like plot armor.) The only downside to this is that it might have to change some of the scenes between Finn and BB-8, when Finn tells him that he is a Stromtrooper, since it would not make sense for BB-8 to be suspicious of Finn if Poe was there, and I actually like those scenes, I feel they add a lot of character to BB-8, but I think we could still keep them if we just rewrite to make so BB-8 is not Poe's droid, but was instead have him be the droid of that minor character from the start who gives Poe the map in the first scene before they are captured, that way BB-8 wouldn't have a reason to trust Finn just because Poe is there. The scene later on in Takodana where Poe shows up to save them, wouldn't have to change much here, just rewrite the scene to have Poe be with the gang on the ground, and the X-Wing pilots who show up to the rescue are his old friends from the Resistance.

I agree with some points, especially the planet thing, the visuals of the red salt planet in 8 were truly stunning. However, I think most of the other points wouldn't have changed too much. Rey as a force sensitive NOBODY and Kylo as the problem child of Han & Leia were the only characters fleshed out enough to carry a protagonist/antagonist role. Poe and Finn are at best 2nd/3rd rank characters like Windu or Lando, and not even for that there's enough I reckon. A romance between the two wouldn't have saved anything I think. If they wanted to include papa Palpatine it should've been a revelation at the end of 7 or so. I once thought about the 7th or 8th film starting with a lone space navigator being called to Exegol by the force, where it turns out Palpatine had planted something that should eventually produce a clone of his or whatever. This space navigator then gets entertwined into the main story to build up to the final battle against Palpatine. That of course is only if they wanna bring back papa Palpatine, which they should not have (his makeup in 9 and Kenobi is horrendous, Ian McDiarmid is ace as always though). Aside from Han and Chewie in 7 I feel like the oldies were misused. Luke's kind of idgaf attitude would've worked if he'd still been fighting (just in a different and less chivalrous way than before), not cowering on his island. Alltogether they tried to put too many characters and throwbacks and cute things on the table without fleshing them out or trying to make them their own thing. Most of the cool new things added have no weight due to the script in which they're entangled or for lack of importance to the story or so. And most importantly, they had no idea what story they wanted to tell. The prequels with all their flaws have one central red line: Anakin's way to the Jedi and his subsequent downfall to the Dark side to become Vader. Sequels? No idea. Why does Rogue one and Andor succeed? Because you want to follow the characters, you feel their pain, their problems are real. Why did clone wars or rebels succeed? You love the adventure, you see how rotten the jedi order truly was at its downfall, you see how oppressive the empire is. Why did the Mandoverse initially succeed? It was a new thing. A bounty hunter going on an adventure with the bounty, nice. It's a shame that the sequels are what they are, because the sets, visuals, audio, soundtrack and so on are on point or insane and the cast could've allowed way more. If made nowadays it would be even worse sadly. Andor has shown how much good writing is worth. On that note, if Andor S2 is nowhere near as good as the first I see SW future quite grim. Mandoverse has damn good potential with the cross with Rebels & Ahsoka and those Dathomir + Force father/mother/son/daughter hints. However the writing has been lacking a lot in recent seasons and I feel like it will all just end in a big blob of overstretched 'meh'. I haven't seen anything of Skeleton crew to be fair.

Thank you for the intelligent, thoughtful response...a rarity on KZbin! You make a number of good points, and your idea for how Palpatine could have plausibly been included is quite interesting. I haven't really explored much outside the main movies, as I don't have the streaming channel, but I've heard a lot of good things. Maybe someday. Anyway, have a great day!

@ You should DEFINITELY check out Rogue one and Andor. To me it's the best SW there is. Maybe wait until Andor S2 is completely released, sometime in may or June I reckon, and then go Andor S1, S2, Rogue one and then ep 4. Also, if you do it, watch Andor S1 in blocks of episodes, probably best is 3 3 4 2, and be patient, it's worth it. I watched it like 5 times within the first year ish of release. Soooo good. And Rogue one gets a view every 6 months or so. Enjoy!

Why not have Either have the Yuuzhan vongs or the Grysks as the Main (or Primary) Villains for the Sequels instead of the First Order?, yes indeed!

I was same as kid, I’m old enuff I do vaguely remember empire in movies, but Jedi was one I REALLY have that memory with, I was in the SW fan club too, was like 80’s version of a subscription “box”, they would send patches for clothes every month, n exclusive posters (which my room was covered in lol), and you would get like letters from characters n stuff, like “we need you to help rebellion”!! lol, I remember me n my friends all being excited when our fan club packs would come every month

I know it’s just fan service but I would have liked to have seen Boba Fett show up in Episode IX. The final battle, if Slave I had flown in and rescued the heroes and dropped some seismic charges on the first order fleet, that would have made me very happy.

It’s really crazy cause if Disney would have just actually cared and wanted to tell good story, instead of just rushing to cash grab off the brand, and they would have took time to PLAN whole thing out first, they could have easily added another 6 film installment to the lore after ROTJ, there were seeds of stuff in there that really could have been great, revolving around kylo, but everytime they totally shit bed on execution, n ruined it, but if they were smart, they could have done it just like the original 6, and made kylo the “annikan”, instead of focusing on some girl no one cared about🤦🏻♂️, then after the first trilogy ended, they could have done 2nd trilogy, that showed us all the back story in between, luke training him, him growing up on good side, n switching, really even with the shitty story they have, they could have done it, n maybee made the new trilogy better, n pushed forward, but THAT is problem, there was NO foresight behind these movies, or people who really cared, if I were in there shoes, the SECOND I knew there was all the back story of kylo in first script, I would have been like, “this trilogy will be episodes 10,11,& 12…NOT 7,8,9” then they would have had long term plan, we’d be getting the 2nd prequel trilogy around now ish, and Disney wouldn’t be winging it, with one shitty project after the next, with no clue or direction 🤦🏻♂️
@waxeddentalfloss9 күн бұрын
I agree with you that that seems to be the case, unfortunately. For an insanely rich company like Disney, you'd think somebody with influence would have said SOMETHING about planning ahead for this trilogy, let alone subsequent trilogies like you mentioned.

@@midgellmidget this is one of the largest franchises in history with decades of lore behind it and many comics they could've taken the Dark Empire comics to heart and it would've been superior or hell just make some standalone movies about Thrawn or the Couruscant underworld it seems like they're heading in that direction but the sequels have done innumerable damage to the franchise
