So this was made while they were making Revenge of the Sith. George Lucas hadnt decided yet whether Grievous was an ultimate Jedi Killer or a mustache twirling villain of the week. Ultimately we know what he chose but the animators went with the first option. In my own head canon I like to think he was a jedi killer as seen here in the beginning of the war. But instead of being injured by Mace Windu at the Battle of Coruscant, it happens much earlier in the war. Turning him into the coward that we see in canon.

It’s because the 3D animated series came out in 2008 and sort of retconned a couple of things from this series, like Grievous’ gravely voice and cough always being prevalent. Though to be honest the micro-series is more in-line with Revenge of the Sith than the 3D show, where Anakin and Obi-Wan fight Dooku and Grievous every other episode. Revenge of the Sith treats it as though it’s the first time they’ve met Grievous and that they haven’t fought Dooku since Attack of the Clones, and the 2D-series keeps much better consistency with that, as does a lot of the comics and novels from the pre-2008 era of Prequel content.

I'm not sure how this went under the radar for me because I would have been all over it when you released it. This series should never be ignored. I watched them all as they aired. What we call Vol 1 was composed of 5 minute cartoon shorts. George Lukas was very happy with them but wanted more from Genndy Tartakovsky, which ushered in Vol 2. Vol 2 were composed of 15 minute cartoons allowing for more story detail to come forward each episode. *At the time of airing, George Lukas declared these micro series AS OFFICIAL CANON.* They were released after SW 2 as promotional shorts for the upcoming SW 3. When the 3D animation series "The Clone Wars" came out much later, Lukas declared them as official canon continuation meant to take place AFTER the Tartakovsky series. Decisions changed since then. *Important takes from the mini series:* - Obi-Wan's growing bond with Commander Cody as a dependable ally, which gave more depth to the betrayal of order 66. - Palpatine's constant use of playing one side against the other to help develop the training of young Anakin in his direction. *Palpatine was able to successfully push Anakin's strength development and graduation of Jedi rank while isolating Anakin's training from proper development of Jedi wisdom.* Jedi wisdom is THE most important facet of Jedi training. To truly earn rank as a Jedi, one needs proper wisdom to guide their strengths. Anakin blazed his way up the ranking but without the proper training. This all gives added depth to how important Qui-Gon Jinn would have been as a father figure to Anakin. Obi-Wan by comparison was inexperienced and always seen as more of an older brother - not a father. - General Grievous was truly a force to be reckoned with. His confidence at taking on Jedi was growing significantly as he had been slaying them throughout the war. Until he met up with a superior force, that is. Mace Windu had a reputation as a top tier bad-ass and this series did well to highlight that. Windu was not going to "play around" with Grievous. Crushing Grievous' cybernetic parts not only gave the General his nagging cough, it also shattered Grievous' confidence. Grievous grew a bit of PTSD self doubt in his character arc. He became more cautionary, especially at the thought of taking on another Jedi.

@@larniieplayz6285 I hope Son of Dathomir returns on screen alongside the other 9 cancelled CW arcs, at some point.

I think we all can agree *THIS* is the Grievous we wanted to see in the 2008 Clone Wars. Dueling with his feet, hunting Jedi like animals, actually winning... Sorry, but Grievous in the 2008 series is such a sorry excuse. He loses almost every duel he's in, and he does the 4 arm spinning move so much that it loses its awe in Episode III.

In the Star Wars revenge of the Sith novel count Dooku actually wants Obi-Wan Kenobi to become a Sith instead of Anakin

If not mistaken, some of the voice actors from this series went on to voice roles in The Clone Wars. Not all of them though, Anakin I know was voiced by a different actor in this.

I don’t know if you have watched: Samurai Jack or Titan Symbionic; but those series was created by Tartakovsky. Normally his series are less dialogue and more visual, and most of the time it’s just perfect. You should react again to Revenge of the Sith

2:46 If it looks familiar, it is because the animators for this were also the animators of Samurai Jack

The issue with Grievous in the modern Clone Wars is that they didn’t want to make him just a clone of Vader. So George Lucas gave him a much more slimy and cowardly personality in Revenge of The Sith (after this show ended), and that personality from the movie was what influenced the Grievous in the 2008 show. Also, Grievous really doesn’t get to kill a lot of Jedi in the modern show because, most of the time, he’s up against characters with plot armor. Main characters like Ahsoka and Obi-Wan obviously can’t die because they’re too central to the story. And then you have cases like Kit Fisto, etc, where we see some characters in Revenge of The Sith or even after that, and so they can’t be allowed to die before hand. Honestly I like to think that Grievous is just as capable as he was in the 2003 Micro series, and that the enemies he fights in the 2008 show are just strong or lucky enough to survive. You can definitely see that Grievous gets much more threatening as the 2008 show goes on. Beating Obi-Wan in plenty of duels and even that one episode where he basically wipes out the entire Nightsister clan (a feat so badass that they brought it up in Fallen Order like something out of an ancient mythological legend.) So I still prefer the current Grievous. He combines that same badass design and fighting style with the more arrogant and aggressive personality that makes us love to hate him.

Were you able to realize that Anakin and Ventress were fighting on Yavin 4? The very same planet where the Rebel Alliance base will be hidden?

I think in canon, Vader stabs Shaak-Ti while maditating (like seen by Yoda in a vision on Dagoba or in the deleted Episode III scene) during the 501st Order 66 assault on the Jedi Temple.
