Anakin's padawan (Ahsoka) seems to be the closest to Qui Gon as a force user in canon and ironically, what real Jedi should be. Ahsoka even used battle meditation against the inquisitors, she experienced attachment, was in love with Lux Bonteri but she still is a pretty selfless person (light side) even when she doesn't consider herself as a Jedi.

@@saricubra2867 I'd imagine that anakin would still get w/padme and have a child. Still be excluded from the council because of his views/actions. Same as qui gon. As such, qui gon would advise anakin to leave the jedi if he thought etc. Meanwhile obi wan is put on the council. Anakin's apprentice ahsoka, becomes gray (like normal timeline). This could warp star wars history drastically. As sidious would never get dooku after maul's defeat. Would likely recruit the clone wars maul again. Even if sidious decided to wait for a more powerful apprentice. One would not just fall in his lap. He'd be stuck w/maul. As the chances of luke going bad would still be 0. So at best much of what occurred in episode 3. Would be pushed back to eps 4 (or 5). There probably would be no eps 5 and 6? Sidious fully trains maul, and maul promotes savage oppress. Grievous is still around somewhere. Maybe even the night sisters join in and lady talzin and maul form a coup to kill sidious. It'd likely be successful as oppress could take grievous. No dooku so yea. Sidious dies sooner.

Denis The idea is that Qui Gon training him would’ve averted those events. By being trained in both sides he would’ve had more of an understanding of his emotions and that would give more insight on how to have handle things. Both the sand people and younglings were dark side acts driven by emotion; sand people= anger & pain younglings= desperation & anger. During the sand people he had no training in the dark side but to avoid it (Jedi) and the Younglings the only training he received merely mins before was just give into (Sidious). But Qui Gon training him from childhood age with the firm understanding that light and dark MUST coexist for there to be balance then these acts may or may not have happened.

I absolutely agree with this assessment, albeit not exactly as you framed it. Qui Gon Jinn WAS a firm believer in the light, however he also trusted The Force above the wishes of the republic, though not necessarily of the entirety of the Jedi Order. I feel that, had Jinn survived episode one and trained Anakin he would have explored the dreams Anakin had of his mother almost immediately, or at least as soon as possible. They would have gone to Tatooine far sooner and therefore been able to save Shmi from the Tuskin Raiders...and Qui Gon PROBABLY would have stopped Anakin from killing them all, finding a diplomatic solution, or at least one with minimal bloodshed. I also think that while Jinn would not have approved of Anakin's secret marriage of Padme, he would've been far more understanding and accepting of it. Anakin would have been trained to both allow himself to feel, but also not to act on impulse...to temper his emotions and desires with logic an reason...and at the same time doing what you feel is right or best. I think if Jinn lives all the way to Geonosis Dooku tries to capture HIM instead of Obi-Wan and appeal to his former Padawan to join him...I see Jinn outright rejecting the offer, and becoming a respected Jedi general in the Clone Wars not because he is a great warrior, but a BRILLIANT strategist. If Jinn survives all the way to episode 3 the movie becomes RADICALLY different: Palpatine doesn't have a leg to stand on with Anakin, NONE of the crucial steps towards the Dark Side have been allowed to take place, save perhaps losing his hand to Dooku. IF Palpatine even admits his identity to Anakin he does so because he is supremely desperate, foolish, or confident. Either Anakin kills him on the spot doing what The Force desires, or he appeals to the council, and is PART of the group that goes to arrest him, along with Qui Gon, Mace, and Fisto; which would be the climactic dual of the movie: I see Kit Fisto still dying quickly, and I see Qui Gon taking a more defensive and supporting role, not being as aggressive, but more observant. I DO see Palpatine killing Qui Gon however, and that's where Anakin goes RIGHT to the edge. But this is an Anakin who is tempered by Jinn's wisdom, who has not felt the same losses, and who trusts not only The Force, but the council AND his own instincts and feelings. This is an Anakin who can us and even embrace his feelings without losing himself to them, this is Anakin at his most powerful and this is a version of Anakin that quite frankly, Palpatine doesn't have a prayer of defeating, or even escaping.

In one story Sidious kidnaps Padmé and takes her to Mustafar but Anakin follows and an epic fight between Anakin and Sidious ensues. Anakin does take some hits but he doesn’t get burned and most importantly defeats Sidious. And it’s done in a very organic way, dialogue-wise.

I love how Qui-Gon is having sort of a renaissance at the very end of the saga. Pretty sure George didn’t plan this when he came up with Qui-Gon as a character, but it’s super cool and interesting. It also speaks to the fact that Star Wars is at its best when you have a bunch of super talented, creative people each contributing to the story that’s being told. Like, in the original 1977 film, you have the best production designers coming up with iconic ships like the X-Wing & Star Destroyer, the best sound designer creating the hum of a lightsaber and the scream of a TIE Fighter, the best composer crafting arguably the most famous score of all time, the best cinematographer, the best editor (George’s wife; they divorced after Return of the Jedi), and on and on. When you think about it, it’s kind of unsurprising that the low points of the series involve someone coming at it with their singular, uncompromising vision, rather than a team that can bounce ideas off each other as well as check each other’s bad impulses. 🤔

Unfortunately because of Snoke corruption still existed in the force and he corrupted Ben Solo. When Anakin's training started, he was too old to be fully moldable, but too young to know what to do with his conflicting emotions. Luke was already mature enough to examine the ideals Yoda and Kenobi fed him, and make a proper choice after examining them for their pros and cons.

If I'm not mistaken Windu also possesses darkness within him. Why did he not have the same point of view? Was he too blinded by the Jedi's illusions ? Why did he not feel the need of balance ?
@jedi1965 жыл бұрын
Lucas Ribeiro Nunes wasn't Windu going to start training Anakin at some point? I'm sure that was the case if so maybe he would have trained Anakin to have control of his dark side leading Anakin to unknowingly fulfil his destiny and bring balance to the force and the galaxy. By the time Windu was out to execute Palpatine Anakin had already become corrupted and so killed Windu before he could train him. But yeah that is a really good question as to why Windu was somehow seemingly oblivious to the potential of Anakin. Could be all sorts of reasons as to why; blind loyalty to the jedi counsel, years of being corrupted by the jedi, could have been Palpatine when he clouded the jedi's minds.

@@jedi196 Windu was a legalist who believed in strict adherence to the rule. Not that it was a bad thing as a Jedi, but he sucked as a politician. He was nowhere near perceptive enough and had a very naive, simplistic view of things. He'd sort of become complacent, not realizing until too late that the Jedi were not as attuned to the Force as they had been. Also, Windu was more like a Abbot or a Bishop. His worldview and perception were entirely shaped by Jedi doctrine and teaching. When he came up against someone like Palpatine, he was out of his depth. He never trusted Palps, but could not see how cunning and deceptive he was. He also lacked the courage to defy him. Qui Gon was a lot more worldly and observant. He saw things that were really going on out there, instead of just relying on some superhuman perception, or mind reading or whatever it was the Jedi had.

Two things: I agree that the balance within Anakin is reinforced by the "Altar of Mortis" Clones wars episode, where the Father asked him to literally be the balance between the light and dark side of the force. Second, I believe that if Qui-gon had of raised and trained him he probably would have accepted that role. Probably because Qui-gon would have not agreed with the Jedi's participation in the war and that would have influenced Anakin's role and perspective of it, leading him to decide that balancing the force is more important then winning a war.

I always felt that one of the most pivotal battles in Star Wars history was the one between Obi-wan and Anakin on mustafar. If Obi-wan didn’t completely dismember and destroy Anakins body, then he would have reached his (nearly) full potential as Darth Vader, and I feel the events afterwards would have played out much differently.... ....but now hearing about Jinn’s apparent synergy with Anakin makes me think so much more of the fight between him and Darth Maul. Events would have played out sooo much differently. I love that there are so many “what if’s”

Ahsoka was Anakin's only real friend if you think about it. Apart from his childhood friends on Tatooine. I'd say his trust in Ahsoka was about as large as his love for Padme. I liked Qui-Gon more than most Jedi b/c he was more open minded and I would love to have seen what he could help Anakin become. Of course then there wouldn't be much of a story or maybe a totally different story. My favorite Jedi is Mace Windu and Qui-Gon second. I also wonder if Anakin would be more like Mace fueling his anger into something positive and becoming a badass saber duelist.

I see Mace Windu as kind of like a Medieval Catholic cleric. Heart in the right place, but very strict and legalistic as he thinks close adherence to the rules is the only path to Salvation. Qui Gon I see as more like a mystic who believes in hearing from God directly. I think also, as the main leader of the order, under Yoda, Windu believed that it was only natural to be embroiled in politics, but he was really unsuited to it, because he lacked the acumen and perception to see through people, understand their motives, and appreciate human nature. He probably saw Anakin as another Qui Gon (whom he basically considered to be a heretic), but failed to notice important things until it was too late.

Anakin really did bring balance if you think about it, all of the force users at the time we're majority light side users, and there were tons of them. Creating an imbalance of light, being the chosen one to bring balance, he ultimately led the dark side to overtake the imbalance and presumably equal it out.
@Jiron1275 жыл бұрын
He could've still brought balance by going grey. Letting the resulting affairs of the light/dark take it's course. Chances are, many jedi would die still. Just not all at once. Meanwhile sidious would probably be killed by lady talzin/maul.

Canon states balance only required the elimination of the Sith. TCW simply expanded on Lucas's original portrayal of what the Force is. Lucas explained balance meant serving the light while controlling the dark in oneself. The dark side is not inherently evil either, just its practitioners and those who distort its power for their own benefit are often led astray by their passions.

Best video in a long time ! I can't agree more. Jinn was a true Jedi. I'm currently reading Master & Apprentice. It's very well written, I'm enjoying the Kenobi Vs Jinn dynamic, very interesting. Rael A. is another great character to join the SWEU community. I'm really looking forward to the audio book Dooku : Jedi Lost, this will feature Qui Gon and should be another valuable addition to help us understand Dooku's fall to darkness, the control by Sheev Palps and what caused this brilliant powerful Jedi to start the galaxy wide clone war. I know you said that Qui Gon could've saved Anakin, with this I agree, I still think that even if Qui Gon trained Anakin, he could've only saved Anakin from his Vader fate if he removed Anakin from the Jedi Council's influences. They would've had to leave the order, and Core Worlds. Which I don't believe Qui Gon could've convinced Anakin to do. IMO only. I believe Anakin was to old, had suffered to much by the time Qui Gon found him. I think Anakin would've still lost his mother (most likely, but not if they left the Jedi order) plus I still think he would've loved Padme. I believe it was his destiny to become Vader, suit or no suit. Still, doesn't change the fact Qui Gon Jinn is the true Jedi master, the only chance Anakin had to change his Vader fate and in my top five favourite characters in SW & SWEU. MtFbwY.

Interesting. Like the explanation. The key word here is “balance”. If you had a scale and had a certain amount of weight on one side, the only way to “balance” it out is to have the same amount of weight on the other side. In order to bring “balance” to The Force, both sides of The Force must truly exist. Very well explained. Love the vid👍

In addition, I think Qui-Gon Jinn would have been the perfect Master for Anakin because he wasn't concerned about being the perfect Jedi in the council's eyes and declined Yoda's offer to join the Council. Anakin was frustrated because he felt the Jedi were ignoring all of his accomplishments, refusing to make him a Master. Qui-Gon Jinn could have helped Anakin to look past this and not care so much. Qui-Gon, after all, had a reputation for being a Maverik, often disobeying the council and chose not to be on it. He would have helped Anakin to realize there are more important things and that one can better serve the Force without being on the council or a perfect Jedi in their eyes. Obi-Wan Kenobi however, was not the person to teach this. After all, he achieved his promotions from knighthood to master to council member relatively quickly and did his best to abide by the Council's orders. This would only serve to frustrate Anakin since he knew he was more powerful than Obi-Wan. But with Qui-Gon Jinn, he would have gotten a very different perspective that would have proven to be more helpful.

There is also the psychological aspect to anakin's mental and emotional developtment, he had a mother figure but he lacked a father figure, Obi wan in the end was a BROTHER but that's not enough, he needed a strong paternal figure he could trust with his feelings and doubts. In the end, Palpatine became his parental figure and that's how he was so easy to manipulate

I am a Counselor by both profession as well as by nature. As an individual in long term recovery from co occuring substance use and criminaity, I find you're exposition here to be accurate in theroy of most indiiduals which I have encountered, including myself. Many fall to the complete of the light or the dark, but few find a Master or Mentor who can lead THEM into balance. I would be interested to see an Anakin who was trained by Qui-Gon, knowing what Qui-Gon knew. It is my observation that many Star Wars fans focus on the implications of the Force and where it leads and not on the signifigant and impactful ramifications of what the path of an indiidual reveals to the larger scope of those their action effect. I would love to see the outcomes of a fan fiction in which Qui-Gon actually realised his path of training Anakin. Who Anakin whould become as a result and what that would bring upon a Universe that so many of us love. ( As a suscriber to many Star Wars themed channels, I apprieciate yours perhaps the best.) Anakin and the eventual turn and path of Darth Vader have been a focus of my study and Counseling modality. It has served me well thus far, and I would be interested both personally and professionally of your thoughts on this topic further.

All the Jedi were afraid of the dark side if the force. Yoda, “Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.” Well, that’s ironic. You said that Qui-Gon wasn’t afraid of the dark side in Anakin. True. And it’s unfortunate he did not live long enough to train him, and had to hand him over to the dogmatic Obi-Wan, whose “allegiance [was] to the Republic.” The only reason I could think of why the Jedi Council members refused to adopt Anakin and train him and were reluctant when Qui-Gon insisted he train him himself, was not that they doubted Ani’s power, but they feared him - if they feared his tendencies and affinity to the dark side so much, they should have trained and guided him closely - who better than them? Because what if he falls into the hands of the Sith earlier? Qui-Gon was the purest Jedi, in terms of his aligning himself to the will of the Force, which is what a Jedi should be about, according to the core concept of their religion (the original trilogy called the Jedi Order a religion, which I thought rather fitting), but the Council thought Qui-Gon some babbling shaman when it came to Ani. The Jedi taught to repress and suppress your emotions because they can be twisted by the dark side? That’s fear. Why not learn to acknowledge and manage them? The entire if SW to me is a huge euphemism as to how ignorant we all are of our own emotions.

Both during the knighting of Anakin and Kanan the Jedi say" by the right of the council, "by the will of the force. This line clearly how far from the jed'aii of old the Jedi order is now. As qui-gon saw both Ashla(lightside) and Bogan(darkside) must, do,and can exist in balance of each other as the Jed'aii understood. Either separate would quickly or slowly slide into corruption, stagnation, decline, or destruction.

I like to think that it really was Obi-wan who was meant to train him. While it's true that Qui-gon was meant to truly understand the prophecy and discover the Chosen One, having him die unceremoniously at the blade of Maul almost seems like an accident, as if the will of the Living Force was thwarted. Qui-gon was also tasked with training Obi-wan in the right way to be a Jedi, and as we know, Obi-wan is who ultimately failed Anakin in addition to the Order itself. Obi-wan went astray at some point, deferring to the authority of the council against the better instincts of his own master, and in many ways continued to do so in his training of Anakin and following membership of the Jedi Council. He taught Anakin the best he could in the way that Qui-gon taught him, and he clearly had a rebellious streak as well, but too often erring on the side of the Council is what ultimately betrayed both himself and Anakin. Making it Obi-wan's destiny to train Anakin makes it so Qui-gon's death wasn't just am unforeseen accident, regardless of his integral role, and it lays the fate of Anakin at Obi-wan's feet for failing to adhere to his master's taught wisdom, something which he continued not to understand even when he saw him as a Force vision in The Clone Wars and not until his exile on Tatooine did he even begin to understand.

I was just explaining this concept to my son a couple of days ago. I even asked him if Palpatine accurately understood the prophecy and instructed Maul to kill Qui-Gon to take control of Anakin knowing he would then be able to fill the fatherly role for the boy.
