I was editing a gaming related wikipedia article and using one of Paul's articles as a source, and I got a message from someone (not a bot, this was a hand typed message) telling me that it was basically going to get removed as a source, and a few days later it was. It was worded in a way that makes it seem like people really don't like him on there, because on that part of Wikipedia Paul is really the only Forbes writer that's going to pop up. And it's mind blowing, the article cited was as factual as could be, just literal numbers on a game, but they still removed it

The main reason SWT is being a bit melodramatic is that he stayed silent for a really, really long time. This has been ongoing for years now and he's always, always been the bigger guy. He was one of the last major SW content creators to admit to the elephant in the room. He tried to be onboard with the Disney stuff, and it got to a point in which he couldn't be remotely optimistic about it anymore and stopped trying to see the glass half full. Prior to that, and all the way till now, he's been under attack for ages. He's come off melodramatic because it's not just one or a few articles. He likes presenting himself as someone trying to get and understand both points of view in internet dramas and problems, but in many cases he does what is convenient to him. I remember couple of months when there was the devastating storm in Texas and he was watching news and reports about people harassing and attacking utility workers. There were people trying to tell him there is more to the story than what the media presents and one guy was ready to give and send him sources and evidence to better understand what's going on before drawing conclusions and the person was very civil and polite about it. Asmon in the end said he doesn't care about what he can present and just banned him. At least uphold your word to understand both sides, not blindly ban anyone who goes against what you think. I don't know suddenly people start having issues with utility companies and workers (and not 1 incident) tells me something more is going on, people don't just start harassing utility workers for no reason. I lost a lot of respect that day towards him. He talks about censorship and says he condemns it, yet he does exactly that to his viewers with no justification because it doesn't align with his view.

There is at least one more: Those who hate Disneywars AND recognized the EU as the total garbage it is. There was no reason why episode 7 had to be as bad as it was. But there was a complete lack of any real vision or creativity. There was a complete failure to understand the forms that hold up the IP. Episode 7 needed to be small in scale. Instead no one had a vision so they tried to remake episode 4 but make everything BIGGERER. Instead of clairvoyance, spirituality and minor telekinesis now the Force is unrecognizable from the types of superpowers in superhero comic books. Instead of a ship that can blowup a planet you now have a ship that can blowup five planets. Instead of a slow hero's journey you have a Mary Sue getting hit on by an ugly guy within the first five minutes of the film. And so on and so forth. And the plot has no cohesion. The plot doesn't flow naturally. Instead it jumps from location to location without any real connection.

Isn't that often what it means to be a fan? Maybe they just like everything regarding its iconography etc. Am I still a fan of Star Wars if I no longer like the majority of it? Outlaws for example, was the first time I felt real damage being done to my childhood attachment to the OT and even the prequels. But even before that, why would I call myself a fan when the only decent media produced in the last 15 years was Andor? Unfortunately this is what Star Wars has been for years now. Many Fallout fans might consider the Amazon show anti-Fallout. You have examples such as Tim Cain's explanation of the meaning of it being removed from its subreddit etc. Are they no longer fans of Fallout because the show goes against its original core meaning? They definitely believe themselves fans, they played Fallout 4 at the height of CoD era popularity after all. At what point do you draw the line? Are BoBF enjoyers fans of Star Wars? Ahsoka? The sequels? Mando? Obi-Wan Kenobi is the worst of all. As far as I know, The Acolyte doesn't obliterate characters in the same way that show does. There are people that liked that show that are fans of Star Wars. I think even Star Wars Theory didn't hate it. Though someone might need to correct me on that. Asmon is so bad at covering this stuff because he jumps into the middle of something expecting answers to all everything in the first 2 minutes. Not understanding that these people are coordinating attacks that they've worked on behind the scenes for years and then enlisting more people they align with to come in at different times attacking from other angles as well. It's not as simple as "here is where they lay out their evil plan in a paragraph for you to read". You actually have to be semi familiar with the people and situation to know what is happening. It gets complicated at times. This is how most of the crazy leftists attack people and they bank on people not being able to understand or caring enough to understand what is going on and instead eating up a simple "these guys are [insert slur]" argument. Paul Tassi is writing an article that is CLEARLY trying to FRAME the narrative is a very specific way. He's also not providing ANY proof our pushback to any of the CLAIMS of one side (which are just false).

He's the perfect guy to review it. He's an outsider showing you how things look without being invested or biased. Not being on the sides of history is great for showing where things have gotten. LIke the story of two families at war concept. Where something started and where it ends are two very different stories. That said, it doesn't mean he does it well. Just that it's good we have people outside of the loop reacting to things so not everything becomes entrenched warfare.
