They explained why they couldn't take the mom with. First, they had no money to pay for the parts plus 2 slaves. Second, the jedi do not believe in attachments, so even if they freed her, she couldn't be with Anakin. And 3rd, they explained at the dinner scene that every slave has a micro explosive in them. If they tried to steal her, she'd die if she got too far away.

Hi, Emma! A few quick notes to start with: This movie takes place 34 years before Episode IV: A New Hope. Since you've already watched the Original Trilogy, you can easily go pretty much in "chronological order" from here on out. "The Acolyte" takes place 86 years prior to this movie, but you can skip that for the time being (many fans didn't enjoy it, but I myself, did... and as I always say, Make up your own mind) as it's not part of "the Skywalker saga". There are both live action and animated series that shouldn't be missed. They are all part of the overall Star Wars story. There will be a lot of new characters introduced that you will likely come to love as much as the rest of us. Just be patient, as this journey is getting longer all the time. 14:45 - Anakin is 9 years old, and Padme is 14. 21:15 - There's a rather long backstory to how Anakin was conceived, but I'm not going to detail it here. You'll get a few pieces to that puzzle later on, I'll get into it more, then. 23:50 - Watto got angry because that Chance Cube was loaded to come up a certain way every time. He was willing to release Shmii, but not Anakin. Qui-Gon using the Force to make it land against how it was loaded angered him. Of course, he knew what the Jedi had done, but couldn't call him on it without admitting that he himself had cheated. 39:20 - To explain that: Anakin is much older than children normally brought into the Jedi Order. Most are brought in before the age of 4, when they have not formed attachments. Anakin, at 9, is very much attached to his mother, which is why the council doesn't want him trained. 52:30 - Did you notice exactly what Yoda said? Basically, HE did not approve of Obi-Wan taking Anakin as his Padawan, but the council voted to allow it. Yoda is the Grand Master, but still only holds one vote on the council.

The Jedi didn't unlock the ability to disappear into the Force at death until Qui Gon Jinn, here in this movie, died and learned the secrets of the Force from the other side. He learned this ability from the afterlife, and he reached out to Yoda and Obi Wan later to teach them how to dissolve into the Force when they die

There is no father. Anakin was the equivalent of Jesus in the Star Wars universe with a virgin birth. He was the Chosen One conceived entirely by the Force to reshape the galaxy. Anakin is basically Jesus if he'd accepted Satan's offers during his 40 days and nights fasting in the desert. Christ had the constitution to resist Satan in his weakest moments where Anakin didn't. He relented, and accepted Darth Sidious's offer to rule the galaxy alongside him

The prequels are definitely more political than the original trilogy - not real-world political, but there's a lot of space politics involved. The original trilogy was far more straightforward. In this one, for example, it appears at first glance that the good guys have won, but they failed to even _detect_ the true villain's plot, let alone thwart him. He got exactly what he wanted out of the situation. It's also interesting what a difference it makes when someone figures out who exactly he is. Also kind of funny how common it is for people to notice the swap between the queen and her decoy, now that Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley are so much more well-known than they were in '99. At the time they were both much less famous and nobody noticed.

I think the prequels are underappreciated (in large part because Episode I might be the most hyped and anticipated movie in history, and nothing disappoints more than something that doesn't live up to expectations, even ones that were impossible in the first place) and are finally getting the respect they deserve. To be fair to the detractors, the movie gets convoluted at points, some sequences go on too long, and parts of it lack the 'edge of the seat' adventure quality of the original trilogy, and the character of Jar Jar and having a child actor highlight the stilted nature of the script (which everything written by George Lucas has, but it was more obvious here), although they unfairly got the hate for it. On the positive side, the special effects (even if a little heavy handed and used unnecessarily at points) look great and have held up very well, the Pod Race sequence is great, if perhaps a little too long, the lightsaber duels are amazing, and the adult cast (I am including Natalie Portman in this, as she was 19, I believe, when filming even though the character is supposed to be 14) is strong with particularly praise to Liam Neeson, Ewon McGregor does a great Obi Wan, and the martial artist/stuntman Ray Park looks fantastic and provides excellent physical movement and presence and lends great credibility to the duels. The Music is strong as well. Really enjoyed your reaction and look forward to you jumping into the rest of the trilogy.

Typically, people should watch the Original Trilogy (Episodes 4, 5, and 6) first and then the Prequel Trilogy (Episodes 1, 2 and 3) because the Prequel Trilogy was made with the assumption that the audience has already seen the Original Trilogy. That means that major revelations and twists in the OT get spoiled if you watch the PT first.
@8O0Aa.1q3S0.27 күн бұрын
Actually, that's not true - the prequels are filmed without regard to whether you watched the sequels or not. You'll catch a spoiler for the first trilogy or the second anyway, depending on which part you started with.

Watch in release order. Idiots are just trying too hard to make themselves seem smart.
@Mr.EkshinАй бұрын
I would never want anyone to watch them in numerical order (chronological) as it presents a lot of spoilers and other plot issues. Release order is definitely better. However, there ARE some very good reasons for a first time viewer to watch in "machete" order (basically the same as release order, except saving ep.6 to watch last). The end of three becomes a HUGE plot twist, and six is so much more gratifying as an end to the saga.

People who yap about anything other than release order or chronological order most likely used one of them on their own first viewing. Which makes them a bunch of hypocrites. Machete or whatever is just gonna confuse a first timer, let's be real here. Some buffoons even talk about skipping this one, as if that would make any sense. It's very egocentric to push something like that on a first timer.
@mikenadj.j4355Ай бұрын
Skipping this movie makes Ep.2 make zero sense so I never understood that beyond people’s distaste for this movie because they couldn’t handle a silly amphibian. Ep.1 is arguably the most important as it sets up everything and people try to say this movie is unnecessary😂
@Sandlund93Ай бұрын
@@mikenadj.j4355 I agree, they care more about voicing their opinion, than putting themselves in the shoes of a first timer. I mean, we could take Ani and Padmé knowing each other or Dooku mentioning Qui-Gon. So much loses its weight without this one. It also establishes Sheevy, which is important for obvious reasons. And the references keep coming in the third one too, there is so much world-building in this movie.

@@Sandlund93 I agree 100% Anakin’s character makes zero sense without the context of TPM. The separatist movement happens because of the political situations explained in TPM and AOTC assumes you know this. Many more reasons, but yes it’s more about people’s opinions than anything else

8 and 9 were two of the worst films ever made in history. 1,2 and 3 were bad, but with redeemable moments that are still fun to watch. The only good ones were 4 5 and 6. But 1, 2 and 3 were way better than anything made after.
