Episode 1 Anakin was 9 and Padme was 14, so ten years later 19 and 24, only a 5 year difference

It's not the age difference that's weird. It's that they met when he was 9 and she was already an active queen. They haven't seen each other in a long time, but I know I would be weirded out if someone I only remembered as a 9-year-old started hitting on me lol
@Novacification

@@Renoistic sure, but they knew each other for maybe a week 10 years ago. It makes sense for him to have a crush on a girl older than him and carry that with him through his jedi training. And it's natural that she would fairly quickly update her old impression of him with a new one of the person she is now interacting with.

Some key points to remember.... Anakin and his mother were slaves. Anakin spent most of his childhood as a slave and not treated well at all. He felt powerless and was property, not a person. His mother was his only refuge and they cared deeply for each other. When Anakin is discovered by Qui Gon Ginn, he must leave his mother behind to become a Jedi (something he dreamed about becoming). He made his mother a promise that he would see her again and free her. He was not able to keep that promise since he was "owned" by the Jedi. When he confided in the Jedi Masters and Obi Won, they told him that "dreams pass in time".... basically just pretend those dreams are not real (they were real and they were force visions). So Anakin loses his mom to the Tusken Raiders (sand people) and he is reminded how Obi Won told him to not pay attention to the visions. Anakin spending most of his childhood as a slave obviously doesn't provide him with an education or exposure to other governments/cultures. So Anakin has never seen a democratic society. He was raised by tyrants and that is the only way of governing people that he knows. The Jedi Council and Obi Won did not want to train Anakin. They rejected him out of fear. Qui Gon Ginn was the reason for Anakin becoming a Jedi...because it was his dying wish and deep belief in him. So the Jedi have basically trained Anakin with "training wheels" because they haven't really dealt with someone so gifted at such a young age, and he also started training later so he already has human emotions and a horrible childhood of abuse and slavery. So...they are taking their time training him and he is very talented and picks up training quickly, but he still has to learn how to do some of the "basic" Jedi things like controlling his emotions and learning to separate from the world/not be attached. Anakin already has two powerful attachments with Padme and his mother. This has caused conflict within Anakin and sometimes spills outward. Obi Won wasn't a Jedi Knight yet when his Master Qui Gon was killed. He was probably pretty close to facing the trails to move out of Padawan status...but him taking on an apprentice at his young age was not common practice. Most Masters had time to develop as a Jedi before taking on a Padawan...so he is "learning as he goes" with Anakin. And if you remember.... Obi Won was against training Anakin and even called him "dangerous". After the death of his mother, Anakin feels rage/sadness and feels he failed his mother. He was not able to fulfill his promise of becoming a Jedi and coming back to save her from slavery or her death. He takes that anger and creates resentment against Obi Won and the Jedi Council for not taking his visions seriously enough and not allowing him to investigate them. He also blames them for "holding him back" (slowing his training) and believes the Jedi do not accept/trust him fully and are keeping wisdom/knowledge/techniques from him. He then makes a new promise to his dead mother that he will become stronger, more powerful, and never fail at protecting and saving those he loves. Anakin and Padme are very much into one another and the age difference is like 5-6 years. So Anakin is deeply in love with Padme but must live a double life because his relationship would get him removed from the Jedi Order. So this relationship conflicts with his own goal of becoming the most powerful Jedi and leaves him open to emotional stress and manipulation/exploitation from those that would use that relationship against him.

You should keep in mind that the prequel trilogy has two central plots: how the Republic degenerated and became an Empire, and how Anakin was seduced by the dark side and transformed into Darth Vader. Although the clones are not actually the stormtroopers from the original trilogy, their uniforms and insignia are the same. So you two are not wrong to think there is a connection between both armies. Let's say they are signs of the beginning of the end of the Republic.

FUN FACT: Grandmaster Yoda has such a tight control of the Force that he literally augments his body to be stronger and faster every time he fights. The hobbling you see with the cane is what he moves like naturally, but his level of control over the Force is so absolute that he can be as flexible as he needs to be. He can indeed use the Force lightning, Force Choke as well as other tricks that most Jedi nor Sith wouldn't even know about, but rarely uses them due to his personal commitment to nonviolence. He has, on occasion, even proven to be strong enough to literally yank entire ships out of hyperspace, but only did so once he realized it was all droids (as such moves would instantly kill humans). He lives by the same rules as Mr Miyagi from the Karate Kid (Karate is for defense only).

To me it's a nice subtle way to show the wisdom he possesses, that he only uses the force to aid his mobility when necessary. He does not try to escape or hide the natural effects of age, even though he has the power to do so, nor does he need to showcase his considerable strength out of ego or vanity.

The Jedi use the Force for defense not offense. Force Lightning is an offensive power that is mainly used by powerful Sith. The Jedi could use it if they wanted to but prefer not to. Offensive Force powers can corrupt you over time. Yoda is using the Force to help him move around so fast, he is 800+ years old after all.

The age difference between Anakin and Padme is 5 years. In the first episode (Episode 1 - Phantom Menace) Anakin was 9 years old, and Padme was 14 years old. So, there isn't a huge age difference between them, especially now that they are both young adults. She's 24 years old in this movie, and he's 19 years old.

Ladies ""Tales of the Jedi" will show you what happened to Kamino. Also there's a Senator in episode 2 that you missed that will play a very important part in Leia's life. He's the reason why she was living on Alderaan that the Empire blew up with the Death Star in episode 4. I think he was in episode 1 at Qui Gon's funeral as well? Qui Gon was Count Dooku's (Darth Tyrannus) apprentice as Count Dooku was Yoda's apprentice. And since Darth Maul was killed by Obi-Wan, Count Dooku became the Emperor's apprentice. The Clone Wars (animated tv series) will fill in some of the gaps (including the last episode that was released in 2020 that was mostly about Asoka) before episode 3 begins.

''We're keepers of the peace, not soldiers'' The biggest lie ever told by the Jedi. Canonically in wartime, the Jedi are almost always given military ranks like General and allowed to command Republic troops. You see this in the second half of the movie where Yoda is allowed to give combat orders during the battle of Geonosis. The age difference between Ani and Padme isn't that big. Heck, I'm 10 years older than my wife, 34 and 24 with a 5 year old daughter.

"Balance" in the Force is not balance between light and dark (or good/evil). It refers to finding balance between the Cosmic Force and the Living Force. That means balance between self and other, between the impulse to self preservation and impermanence, between love and non-attachment, harmony of all parts of the cosmos, etc. The light side is all about balance and the dark side is imbalance toward selfishness.

I also suggest watching Rogue One, which is the events immediately before the start of 4, but I'd say just give a miss to 7-9 and Solo. And as other people pointed out, the age difference between Padme and Anakin isn't as drastic as it appears and the Clone Wars last just over three years, so both of them are well in their twenties by Episode 3 when Luke and Leia are conceived.

If you need more context for the story between the episodes 2 and 3, you can watch the Clone Wars show :)

Yea I think there is just a 5 or 6 year age difference between Padme and Anakin. She was meant to be very young in the first one.

I don't like the sequel trilogy but I think it's worth watching. It's a fascinating study on what happens when a studio feels obligated to release a trilogy in a short time without having any sort of plan for where the story is going, and with two separate directors with very different ideas. It's a majestic trainwreck with a few genuinely good parts. I don't hate any of the SW movies or shows but in my mind the only great Star Wars product after the original trilogy is the Andor TV show, which I highly recommend.

Investigation the facts I found that The Republic records shows that the Jedi defeated the Sith on their home world and maintained the peace in the galaxy for 1000 generations (25,034 years). While it is preferable to Sith rule, it makes weak minded people more susceptible to corruption. Balance keeps in the hearts and mind of the people why the light is preferable. According to the Star Wars canon. Daylight is longer but a third of darkness helps keep and appreciate the light.
