Sadly so. After The Rise of Skywalker and The Book of Boba Fett, relegating my two favourite Jedi to a six hour streaming show that fails at being both television and cinema was the last straw. Here's why Star Wars is dead to me.

@George Baxter Yeah, one of the things that really annoyed me is how insignificant a stab wound has become. It didn't really make sense that Maul survived getting cut in half, but I went with it and ultimately enjoyed what came after. I can't buy Reva surviving, getting all the way to another planet and still seemingly being well enough to take on Owen and Beru and chase down Luke. I also don't understand why she went after Luke. As far as I know, she didn't know he was Vader's son and I don't know what she gains from killing him. I'm glad neither Owen or Beru let her off by forgiving her, though I don't know if she should be let off by Obi-Wan either, especially after what she did to the townspeople, like an older woman standing up to her, or what she did to Leia. None of that makes sense to me.

They could come up with interesting and creative new material, but they're too afraid to take that leap. They should've done it from the get go. Instead, they rebooted Star Wars with TFA and never looked back. I think they'll eventually realize that, at least with movies, they need to take some risks and cut ties with the original material. Honestly, I think they're already doing that. They'll keep making these streaming series with characters that are tried and true, but any actual feature films are going to be completely original. That's why Rogue Squadron is, at best, delayed for a long time. It was still dependant on nostalgia.

I felt more emotion listening to Obi-Wan describe Padme to Leia, than I did for the entirety of the series. Disney isn't taking risks out of fear. Old characters will survive, and we know that. New characters will die, and likely before we have a reason to care about them. I wish they would expand the universe instead of consistently making it smaller and smaller so that everyone knows everyone or is related to someone and they ALL somehow find their way onto Tatooine. Like Tatooine is supposed to be some backwater shithole in the Outer Rim and yet THE ENTIRE GALAXY ends up there at some point in the same like... 15 year span or something? Let's just get out of the era already and build on the great ideas that are there to experience something new.

This is Doctor Who all over again where the literal premise is ANYWHERE ANYTIME ANYTHING and we get the same old stories because the writers are lazy (and for the love of God can the internet stop blaming it on being progressive; shows are literally getting less progressive and political because they're too scared to take ANY risks; its just bad and lazy writing, stop giving them free excuses).

The issue with any intermodal pieces is that they have no stakes, because you know where the characters are before and after it happens, which makes it inconsequential fan service. Rogue One is the best DSW film and it worked in this light because it was a bunch of characters you knew were going to die before the end so seeing how they got there was interesting.

To me, it just felt like they made half the series padding because they were banking on getting another season. Personally, I'd rather have seen six episodes of absolute epicness and gripping story-telling and character development and not get any more rather than getting something that just strings you along for six episodes without giving you anything substantial. That's what really made it feel like TV to me. It wasn't the effects or the set pieces, it was the overly-extended storytelling. Bating another season. That for me is the biggest crime of all the Disney Plus series. They never finish their story because they are always trying to squeeze more out of it. The result is bland and disappointing.

I really, really believe that the last episode is what episode 1-6 should have been. I feel like we should have had character exploration of both anakin/vader and obi-wan and them both coming to realization that the other is out there. Flash backs to good times, flash backs to bad times, blash backs to signs of anakins internal struggles, obi wan questioning why he trained someone the council didnt agree with. Obi wan struggling with the losses of his friends who were in essence his family. Anakin in the bacta tank having similar flash backs. Questioning his morality. Questioning his decisions while also vindicating its “too late for me now” and how if he changed his mind, he would be shunned by all. How he really is just a dog on palpatines leash at this point. How he cant live without the suit. How palpatine controls him. How doing the right thing would only lead to more pain and agony for him.

It should of been a story of devotion and struggle to cope with his new life and most importantly it should of been about obi wan learning from qui-gon as a student again, learning to be more open minded like qui-gon and learning how to be more creative and confident. its so annoying that simply because Solo flopped (thanks to Disney over-confidence and dumb decisions in marketing and release date etc) they now decided to put every single thing into TV. Like they already announced 11 or so projects last year and more coming. Its a shame especially because Rogue One is quite beloved and i think ppl are turning around on Solo too. Everything just to maintain streaming services because it seems like studios think thats the only worthwhile medium nowadays. Look ppl can defend streaming service tv all they want but ultimately studios just use it because it's far less risky, its cheap, it can have so much filler yet people are far more accepting of it than if that filler was to be put in a movie.

I don’t think it’s because they need streaming service content. Disney+ is doing incredibly well right now and already have tons of content thanks to Marvel. It’s sad how Kenobi was originally going to be a movie, but got turned into a tv series because Solo didn’t do well at the box office. I’m fact in terms of the shows in the franchise I’ve watched the most, are on the animation side of things with the last four episodes of The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch. Granted the latter has its fair share of issues but at least it understands it’s aiming for a (slightly) younger demographic.

What's the worst, is the fact that Kathleen Kennedy pushed for "Solo", while nobody really wanted it. She f**ked up the production, changed directors in the middle of making of the movie and it seems she's behind all the woke quotas, tokens and diversity hires, which f**ks up the writing, in "Solo" and everywhere else. And "Solo" lost money. And it's even admitted on Wikipedia, that it was the reason "Obi-Wan Kenobi" was changed to be a series.

Clone Wars kinda still pisses me off as someone who grew up on that show and it was my favorite content. We STILL got basically nothing. The first arc was a bad patch pilot that was pretty good. The second arc was literally worse than nothing and we only got one REALLY good arc that resolved anything (well kinda; set up for rebels mostly). We still didn't get nearly enough of Ahsoka on her own after leaving the order or of Anakin's thoughts after (heck, you can find deleted scenes of these moments on YT that never got produced). Bad batch is legitimately... promising. That's not a insult of a kids show/younger audience (more of a family show than anything). Its just when you consider The Clone Wars and Rebels and that it's the same creator, Bad Batch has a much much stronger 1st season than both. Right now it's just good, but it could be spectacular or legendary like Clone Wars or it could fall flat.

@@vullord666 I guarantee you the reason we only got 12 episodes was limitations by corporate Disney. The original Martéz Sister’s arc featured one male character, not two female characters, but Disney came in and changed that. But, I think the probable reason we only got 12 episodes for season 7 instead of at least 20 was budget restraints. Disney said “you’re budget is x amount”, and Filoni said “Great, we can make 12 episodes with that” and Disney went “Wait, what? This is generous! You could make 2 seasons of Rebels with this!” And Filoni went “Yep, and the animation suffered greatly from that restraint. This is Clone Wars, not Rebels. If we’re gonna close out this series, we’re gonna do it right. And to do it right, this budget will get you 12 episodes” and Disney went “Fine, you get 12 episodes. But 4 of them will be Martéz Sister for our woke points, and 4 of them will be Bad Batch since you need to set that up for the spin off” and Filoni went “Fine”, which is why we got the season 7 that we did.

Well from an entertainment standpoint yes that would’ve been better for the cinematic gravitas of the episode. However, when you think about how he reappeared and why and when he reappeared it’s very beautiful and deep. Qui Gon appears at that time because obi wan has finally reached a point in his life where he is no longer consumed by fear and guilt. After having anakin admit to him that he did nothing wrong obi wan forgave himself, understanding that he cannot help anakin if anakin refuses to help himself. Qui gon returns when obi wan achieves peace within himself and is ready and deserving to see Qui Gon’s force ghost.

He COULD have faced Vader as a STALLING ACTION, to delay Vader as a bigger plan comes to fruition… then Kenobi escapes but not before saying “still learning, eh?” It’s perfect. It would’ve worked, it provides a duel, maintains Vader’s superiority because Kenobi can’t beat him, maintains Kenobi’s standing as one of the greatest Jedi because he hangs on vs Vader and outsmarts him, and most importantly it maintains continuity. It was a no brainer, super easy… they didn’t do it. Now Vader looks pathetic.

Episode 6 had a single moment that acted like an emotional gutpunch to me. It wasn't Obi-Wan letting go of his guilt over what happened to Anakin. It wasn't seeing how broken Anakin had become under the suit. It wasn't Obi-Wan's farewell to Leia. It wasn't Reva choosing to spare Luke. It wasn't Obi-Wan guiding Reva towards accepting the path forward. It wasn't Qui-Gon appearing for two lines. It was when Obi-Wan turned to leave Owen's farm and this guy who'd treated Obi-Wan like shit during every interaction they had, including that very conversation, called out to him and asked if he wanted to meet the son of his old friend. THAT got me. Because it felt earned. Despite the lack of focus on the two's relationship since Obi-Wan left Tatooine, that felt like an arc.

Even when it came to more moderately terrestrial planets, George always found a way to significantly differ them from Earth. Endor and Kashyyyk are very green and are full of trees but they weren't just left as normal looking places, the trees are very exaggerated in size and shape which is creatively taken advantage of by having the homes where the creatures live be located in them. Show me one place on Earth where cities are built using woodlands with enormous fat trees. Show me a desert where massive cities are made by mutant insects using the same techniques by small insects. You can't and that's where the clear indications of science fiction kick in. And beyond those occasional only partially similar planets, most of the others look nothing like Earth. Coruscant, Mustafar, Mygeeto, Cato Neimoidia, Felucia, Saleucami etc are all so unique in their own ways and that makes them memorable and interesting. There is nothing memorable about any of these new planets. We will probably visit Generic Dark Planet Number 58 in the next show or two and I'm so bored of these standard unedited forests and deserts. This is science fiction. Have things as random as you want. Make giant mutant boat cities in massive ponds with toad monsters if you like. How about some civilisations living on mutant tracked vehicles that can move around the planet? Make cities set on massive planes on a planet with such low gravity or a submarine civilisation. Don't hesitate to throw in bridge cities, giant sinkholes, plants, huge venus fly traps and so on. I can hardly remember any of the original planets in Disney Star Wars by what they look like. If you put a load of random screenshots together of these planets you would have a very hard time knowing what any of them are. Without searching it up, tell me the names of all the new planets in this show and what defines them. You'll know what I'm talking about after this task. I really miss when planets looked nothing like Earth and when aliens didn't just look like humans with makeup.

Glad you mentioned the shaky cam. The cinematography of this show and frankly most of the Dsiney Star Wars shows is garbage. Star Wars is known for it's wide sweeping angles and long cuts where we can actually see the action and see the emotion without being distracted by the movement of the camera. But no. We can't have that. Let's just shake the camera all over the place to distract the audience from the fact that the action and choreography is rushed and forced and brittle. God I miss the Prequel choreography.

Rebels did a better Vader confrontation complete with a better half mask reveal. Jedi: Fallen Order did a better story of an Order 66 survivor confronting a female Inquisitor stabbed by Vader with a better job of escaping the underwater fortress including holding back water with the Force. "... When this legacy character showed up and said two lines..." "... This moment, which is durative of something else..." This describes Disney's approach to the Star Wars IP perfectly. These aren't the days of George Lucas in the early 2000s, pushing the envelope and trying new ideas. Disney cares about one things: money. Anything that fills seats will be added: legacy characters, recycled plots, a fraction of a second of a lesbian kiss that can be easily removed to appease China. What I liked about Mando season one was that lack of "Legacy" pandering. Okay, there were Boba Fett and Bo-Katan and without the Star Wars setting, Mando would have been a pretty standard western-inspired story, but it tried to be something different. It tried to explore something new on the Mandalorians, on the Post-Endor Empire, on the muddled differences between the New Republic and the Empire. So I find myself asking genuinely: what did Kenobi add? Did it expand the universe in a meaningful way?

This whole thing confuses me and is strange, because I hated all the rest of Disney's Star wars and am a huge fan of the originals/prequels. But I felt this was the perfect grand finale to the prequels and was sure everybody else would feel the same. I would even consider this the only "must watch" addition to the franchise. Unlike Rise of Skywalker, this truly is a difference of opinion and perspective.

It was a character-driven drama, people weren't expecting that from Star Wars, so when it is surface-level boring they don't put the effort into interpreting emotions and motivations of the characters even though that's where all the really exciting stuff is. The prequels were pretty horrible but there were some exciting and bombastic parts that could keep a person engaged, so after half a decade people started regarding them more favorably because they were willing to get invested. Give this series a year, and there will be a thousand video essays about how "Obi Wan Kenobi was SECRETLY brilliant!"

What makes this sadder for me is there were a lot of little glimmers of hope for something more interesting and significant in the show, if they had only realized they had something worthwhile. If they cut out from the story they were “supposed” to tell and focused on the stories that were actually there to be told it would have been amazing, a sort of anthology of Obi Wan understanding a galaxy which has changed for him but may not be that different for a lot of others. Examples of what they could have focused on… Haja: one half con man, one half hero. He doesn’t have the rouge flair of Han Solo, or the 180 of all greed to all hero. He exists as both. Tala: an imperial officer who realized too late she chose a bad side. Focus on her life, her hiding and pain. Maybe give some weight to her shooting 3 stormtroopers in the back, troopers she probably knew by name. Freck: a decent guy and a true believer, who has probably encountered evidence to put faith in the empire over the old ways. These are stories. These are people who, through real interaction, can deepen someone like Obi Wan.

The hype was so big for this series and I was so excited coming up to this. But immediately after the first two episodes aired I was cautious and felt really annoyed and betrayed. This was supposed to be the best series on Disney plus and it was such a disappointment. I grew up with the prequels I expected so much more from this. Personally I think Disney have just shat on Star Wars, relying on cameos and cheap dialogue. I don’t think Deborah Chow actually understands Star Wars and how to please the audience. The two fights with Vader were too dark and I couldn’t see much which was really annoying. Saying this however, I did enjoy the final fight between Vader and Obi Wan. I love how there are so many references during this fight. When they confront each other they use the same dialogue before their Mustafar battle. Once again it’s Vader’s arrogance which makes him lose since he has seen how weak Obi Wan was in episode three so he didn’t take as seriously initially. Also when Vader buries Obi Wan and walks away, the tables have turned now since Obi Wan is the one to jump and shock him, mirroring Vader’s move in episode three. There’s also the mirroring of Ahsoka’s battle with Vader, With Ahsoka cutting open his right eye, but Obi Wan cutting open his left, showing how the people who were closest to him can still get through to Anakin. Also I love how we see his blue eyes again when the screen is washed in the blue of Obi WAN’s saber, but they switch to yellow when the screen is washed in the red of Vader’s saber, showing us that Vader is taking control again. Throughout the series they prioritised Reva vs Obi Wan instead Obi Wan vs Vader. To be honest, there were no consequences throughout since Obi Wan, Vader, Luke and Leia all had plot protection. Overall, the series was disappointing.

Maybe action just isn’t one of Deborah Chow’s strengths. Based off of her work on the Mandalorian and Better Call Saul, I think her real talents lie in communicating complicated emotions through succinct visuals, and episode 1 of the show reflected this. All the scenes of Obi-Wan inwardly suffering on Tatooine was the best stuff of the show in my opinion. If the series leaned into that stripped back character study approach a bit more I think we could’ve had something special.

And the Emporer is like, " You seem to be focused too much on Kenobi. Don't get carried away with that." But anyway. The main point of them making this was to have a rematch, and they built everything else around that idea. I mostly enjoyed the finale and parts of the rest, and Leia's relationship with Kenobi, but this doesn't feel that big of a story to return to later. We'll see how I feel some time later.

I'm not 100% sure what people expected from the series from the trailers and given how the last few films were initially received. The initial trailer to what we got was pretty much what I expected personally, this was never going to be an extremely bold show where the writers pushed something extremely new and not to the original beats we already know. Overall though I don't think it was awful but don't think it was amazing in any sense. it shown some parts of characters that in movies I had questions about. I always wondered how Vader could just be this fierce sith lord that people feared but Palp shocks his son who he doesn't even know a few times and then overthrows the emperor but in this series we saw him fight vs Obi and when he says "You didn't kill Anakin, I did" I think it actually shows some of Anakin still within trying to not give Obi the credit/comfort of being the one that made him who he is and trying to reinforce in his own head that being Vader was his own concious choice. Also having Obi apologising to Vader lowering his gaurd mentally and the emperor at the end gives more context to the end that Anakin was still there that whole time and was always conflicted it wasn't just like a sudden switch/random coming of good in ep.6 Also would have been weird to see Neeson in the middle of a fight when Obi clearly wasn't balanced in his mind and in the force because if he did it would have been a question along the lines of "So how comes we are only just seeing him now" but at the end you can sense that Obi has regained some strength in the force and is at peace with himself allowing him to connect with Qui-Gon. The last two episodes were ok in my opinion but the pacing to get to that point was a bit too slow for what actually happened because of how many characters and stories the show is trying to juggle at once and one too many rescue Leia's. I also liked the setting for the fight in the last episode, in Revenge of the Sith Mustafar was the perfect setting because it was a point of anger and darkness and rage within a character so the Lava was the perfect setting to further convey those emotions. In Kenobi both characters are still trapped in thoughts and not a peace (Limbo if you like) so having a setting that somewhat conveyed that as well made sense to me if it was another Duel of the fates Mustafar setting I would be sitting here thinking "It was cool but they've just made that fight something more michael bay then it needed to be" however I do wish there was a better lighting and maybe a bit more use of the environment rather that just throwing the rocks about. I think a lot of people's expectations of this series were falsely pushed by the fact that Hayden was doing the press stuff before release so people maybe felt Anakin was going to play a bigger part in the series which I can understand and I do think that Hayden should have had more involvement. That and the trailer I think was quite a snakey move into making some people feel they were getting something exciting and flowing with energy especially with the duel of the fates music. The biggest thing that really kills me with Disney shows though is they are constantly around 6 episodes long. It's not long enough when you are trying to introduce 10 new characters or origins of those characters who we need to get connected to and also push the main storyline and have it all wrapped up in because limiting the series to 6 episodes I feel limited Reva's actual story and arc to be a cheap "Oh she turned to the right side" when we could have seen more of her and the inquisition and her using her anger before having a proper arc to redemption. We also then could have had Hayden utilised a lot more and going into Obi's thoughts a lot more with Flashbacks with Qui-Gon because we aren't as limited to time/moving the story to the end point as quick as possible. Becuase the show was 6 episodes and you don't want to have the story moving too fast it just meant that everyone's stories were glass half full and there's no new characters you look at and think "Wow really loved this person and there story i'd love to see more of them in general". It's all just "Meh".

You definitely make good points with how they handled Qui-Gon Jinn. If he would been used in a crucial way during most of the show, he definitely would not have felt like fan service, and I am saying that objectively. Also, while it's true that there has definitely been racist comments against the actress that played Reva, I don't think it is fair to say that half of the fanbase that criticized the show were racist. I have seen a lot of comments that criticized the character based on how she was written, and they brought a lot of fair arguments. In fact, the reddit that I have been reading that actually doesn't pretend that the show is so great, like the other half that you said (the Disney fans), have never brought her race when criticizing her. Case in point, well written characters like Lando Calrissian and Mace Windu are very well received by fans. I don't endorse the racism that those people exhibit, they should know better, but I know they don't represent a majority of the fanbase.

Nobody likes Windu because of his writing, lol. They like him because it's Sam Jackson and he has a purple lightsaber. The sticking point with this logic is that those characters are side characters and never took center stage. Characters like Finn and Reva, who did take center stage, bore the brunt of racist backlash, and it happened instantly after learning they'd be a core part of the story, mind you. Long before we got any sense of where their stories were going, so it wasn't even an overly negative reaction to bad writing. It's likely true that racists are but a loud minority in the fandom like they are anywhere, and part of the issue was just the time period where the internet brings them all out of their holes. But I also think bringing up different black characters with much less focus in both marketing and overall story doesn't prove much.
@miguelmejia-holguin8799
@miguelmejia-holguin8799 2 жыл бұрын
@@britneyrose6309 Yes, Mace Windu did not exactly have the best writing on the prequels, and being play by Samuel L. Jackson definitely played a factor in his popularity. Though, I know that there are books on which he takes center stage, and he was well received there because of the writing. And regarding a black character taking center stage, a lot of people knew that Moff Gideon and Greef Karga were going to be important characters on the Mandalorian. Sure, you can say that maybe it is from the actors, but if most of the fanbase was racist, we would have heard a lot of those comments for those characters. People also knew that Lando was going to take center stage on the Solo film, and there was no issue with that, though it could also be because he was an original character. I might be wrong though, but I just wanted to point out that the people that are being racists do not represent the majority of the fanbase.

Yes the Mandalorian is the best thing to come out of Disney Star Wars. I completely agree on the Liam Neeson appearance. It was very disappointing and his character needs to show up more in future star wars material. I truly hope they get more in depth with Qui Gon in season 2 of Obi Wan. I can't help but to wonder if Qui Gon will eventually appear to Vader because as we know, he gains the force ghost ability at the end of ROTJ.

Disney doesn’t aim to give us interesting stores or characters… they aim to give us “moments” so that Twitter and social media can get hyped for their lackluster series’s.. there is no style, no substance, no logic, to anything Disney tries to create. Hell The Mandalorian season 1 was great!.. and it still suffers from what i call “Cameo’itis”.. Disney anchor’s Legacy characters to create hype, and then make a “strong female character” hijack the series… this series wasn’t even over, when there was rumors Reva was getting her own spin-off!!! We didn’t even get to decide if we liked her, before she got a series’s.

There's something weird about gaining closure from disappointment. Years, almost two decades, had been spent in speculation, concept trailers and fan fictions. To have something like this, something so important to so many people, hyper expectation was a given. Because of that, disappointment became an inevitability, caused both by the consumer, for craving a reexperience of something previous, and by the producer, for promising the return of something so beloved. After a wait filled with years worth of seemingly misplaced hope, the Kenobi tv show had become a reality. Following six weeks of content, today it is over. It has come and it has passed. Many are left with disappointment, many feel misled and betrayed. It is by no means incorrect to suggest that this entire experience was not simply a six week long watch, but rather a period in Star Wars history, marked by hope, victory, and betrayal. It seems, especially considering Disney+'s track record, that Kenobi, in terms of quality, was always destined to fail. I could go on for hours about why it is objectively a failure, but that is not what this review is about. Looking past aspects such as production quality and execution, we can find the true reason that why to many, Kenobi was a failure In all negative opinions and reviews of Kenobi that focus on the same topic as this review, one thing links them all. A shared experience. The nearly two decade experience mentioned earlier. During this period of wait, in a very rare occurrence, the Star Wars community (those who had partaken in the experience) came together in agreement. We all wanted the same thing. It should have been so easy for Disney to simply see what the fans had done and put that into film. Am I surprised that they didn’t? Of course not. But what exactly was it that the community has agreed on? It was simplicity. Contrary to the action packed, large scale spectacle that we received, all we wanted was a rough, well crafted and cared for introspective story about a completely broken individual, clinging to a misplaced hope (just like the fans) in redemption and revival of what he had lost. Today it is no secret that Disney is a business. Now obviously I’m not referring to their status as a corporation, I'm referring to their tendencies as a corporation. These tendencies are reflected in their marketing tactics (manipulation of the consumer), production quality (a lack a care disguised by cheap tricks) and an understanding of their market (if you have something beloved, people will watch it even if it’s terrible). All of which are traits that any mega corporation should have. That’s just unfortunately how it is. I wouldn't have explained these traits if they weren’t relevant to Kenobi. Disney systematically employed each one of these traits in Kenobi, very much aware of the fact that they were destroying all possibility of rekindling a magic found in such a beloved character. Rather than putting in even the slightest hint of effort, they instead held true to their same Disney+ formula and once again delivered perfect mediocrity on a silver platter, hidden under a dish of misleading marketing. I think the most disappointing aspect of Kenobi is how easy it should’ve been to get it right. It was right there for the taking. All they needed to do was be lazy in a different way, by just looking at what the fans had been creating and begging for for the past 17 years and putting that onto the screen. Thinking about it, it really seems unlikely, shocking even, that they managed to get it so wrong, which just goes to show how careless they were with the entire project, and that they didn’t even put in the effort to consider what fans wanted. After this whole experience, I was largely left with a feeling I did not expect. Instead of the anticipated overbearing feelings of anger or confusion, I was left with relief. It took me some time to figure out why. While reflecting on the whole experience, I discovered the reason. I didn’t have to hope anymore. Under ordinary circumstances that would’ve been an incredible thing, but it was actually bittersweet because the reason I didn’t have to hope was not because I had finally gotten what I had hoped for, but because I didn’t, and now I don’t have to wait for it anymore because the chance is gone and it will never come back. I don’t think I’ll ever experience something in the same way I did Kenobi, and I know it will probably be the most disappointing tv show or movie experience of my life, but at least I have closure in conclusion. “The fight is done. We lost.” -Obi Wan Kenobi

I think people that are complaining about Haden being wasted forget that this isn’t a Darth Vader show. The only reason he was in the marketing was because there wasn’t really anyone else that could do it. They had Ewan and Moses in the marketing with Haden because there wasn’t other characters they could do. No one is going to care about the imperial officer that was in one frame of a trailer and they can’t use Leia because she was a secret. Haden was all they had

Hayden shouldn't have been involved with the show at all. This was one instance that it would make sense for the whole show to take place on tatooine. It should have been a small stakes story, where at most Obi-Wan has to learn to solve conflicts without revealing his powers in order to protect Luke. Also they got the original actor who played young Owen Lars to come back so there is ur interview guy

That's the most egregious thing in my mind. It _completely_ undercuts their meeting in ANH. Vader's whole "when I left you I was the learner, now I am the master" line makes no sense, because according to this they were both fairly evenly matched actually. And fine, you can get away with that _if_ you have an even better story to tell which justifies it, but this definitely wasn't it. Likewise Leia's "General Kenobi, years ago you worked for my father in the clone wars" speech when she should be saying "Obi-Wan! it's me! remember that time you saved me from those Inquisitors and then Darth Vader was trying to blow us up!?"

You can't seriously criticize Disney when you bring this awful idea to the table at 09:44 , you are suggesting an interaction between Qui-Gon force ghost and Vader, really? Did you forget that the main reason Anakin turned to the dark side was to learn how to cheat death to save Padme? Seeing a dead man talking to him would have been a deal breaker between him and the emperor, he would have begged Qui-Gon to teach him how to do that to be reunited with Padme or he would have spent the rest of his life trying to teach himself knowing that it's a possibility. So forget Vader in a new hope he would have been too busy to run an empire lmao
