30,000 seems like a real nuts-to-butts arrangement inside and not the typical passenger load, kinda like how converted passenger liners used as troop transports IRL will cram people into every conceivable space. RMS Queen Mary typically held about 2000 passengers and 1000 crew, but during WW2 they filled her with over 15,000 troops.

@Waldo Gonzalez An Oasis class cruise ship can have 8900 guests and crew in normal configuration and this ship would have 5 times the interior volume. The Length is nothing special but the width (beam for ships) is 3 times the largest ocean going ships military or civilian and that vastly increases interior volume when combined with it being a little longer and taller than the biggest real world ships.

The thing is that we don't know what the life support systems on the ship can handle, so there's probably going to be a hard cap on how many people can be transported, especially when a troop transport built specifically to take as many soldiers to the battlefield as possible can only take half.

I wonder if that shipyard is a Mandalorian company, because the face of that cargo ship looks like a Mando visor. Mandalorian companies must have gone looking for lucrative civilian contracts while their society was going through its pacifist phase, the same way that the big brewing companies made soda during prohibition.

As far as I know, Botajef shipyards isnt Mandalorian affiliated nor a Mandalorian planet but that's honestly a cool idea. To have features of their culture in their ship designs. i made one in space engineers to scale covered in point defence cannons and used it in a world friends and i set up we had a full 60 player server and were spilt 30 each my team used my armed version to board the other teams carrier we ended up blocking their hanger due to us getting stuck in both the floor and roof of it in the end our engines were enough to stop their ship we then forced it to crash in to a planet by blowing the carriers reactors and being inside the gav well we caused the ship to crash into it

Mostly like not used as a troop transport ship but more likely used as a cargo ship due to lacking any defense

the C-130 is flying into an area where the enemy isn’t a professional military, cargo isn’t stored vertically, doesn’t have to watch for flak, enemy aircraft and it big boarding ramps aren’t at the top of the plane, not mention if landed the AA-9 is tall and center of mass is at the top, so if rammed or hit hard would topple the ship leaving it useless for a few days also pretty easy to hit because of how tall it is

Commie Sauce it wasn’t immune to aircraft attack. Really none of the problems you mention go away whether these ships are used to ferry cargo or troops. If I had to guess I’d say they probably traveled in convoys with other ships to protect them, which would likely be the case for all dedicated transport ships.

Probably comparable as there was a Technological Dark age around 2000 BBY which set the Galaxy back thousands of years. By 1000 BBY technology had been restored to KOTOR levels and stagnated until 22 BBY when the Clone Wars forces Technological progression.

How durable - are we talking also about structural strenght or just "how heavily armoured is that"? If the latter, then it depends on period - while is no clear data about armour scheme and values, I think that ships (especially combat ones) just before invention of deflector shields would be the most armoured ships in SW universe. If we talk also about structural integrity, then it more depends on design itself than when it was designed - moreover, ship itself does not need to be armoured to be realy tough in terms of structural integrity (but it definitely helps). From all SW ships that I know Carrack-class light cruiser has both best armour and structural integrity for its weight class

In military use I would upgrade the hyperdrive give some light weapons and shielding and make it a 2 deck allowing for landing and docking anywhere much easier and increasing the atmosphere speed.

If you have ever had a stick and attached a rock to the end, there is a somewhat chance the stick would break due to the front heavy weight. Regarding the Vallorum being alive thing, I read a while back that Lucas himself never really considered the EU to be fully canon. He acknowledged its existence, and obviously, from a legal perspective it was part of the franchise, but he said that if it ever got in the way of a story he wanted to tell, he would completely ignore it and retcon it out of existence.

As someone who has often gone on cruise ships who are significantly bigger the this the only way you will fit 30000 peope inside is if you’d tuff them right on top of each other . There won’t be place for anything . Not good, not proper beds , not bathrooms . It’s ridiculous. At most you will be able to fit 5000 peope and it won’t be comfortable at all

Swap out the class 4 hyperdrive with a class 1, and then add a bunch of weapons like turbolasers or, modify it to drop vehicles... Most likely a better way for planetary invasions when under heavy fire like when the Republic was liberating Ryloth an Acclimator-class assault ship got shot down along with everything on board. If this AA-9 Coruscant Freighter was deployed in a swarm, it wouldn't matter too much if one or two were shot down compared to an entire assault ship.

Its a SPHA, the Self-propelled Heavy Artillery, its the massive laser cannons from Episode 2 during the battle of Geonisois that took down the core ships.
