And Finn being the one to ask "They fly now!?" just makes this scene even worse. The Stormtroopers started with clones of Jango Fett, a Mandalorian bounty hunter who uses a jetpack. So why should it be a surprise that the First Order have Jet Troopers? And when checking the Wookieepedia article, you'll find that this isn't even the first time the First Order used Jet Troopers, as they were used in the Battle of Ovanis, a battle that Poe participated in shortly before The Force Awakens as the conflict was all about finding Lor San Tekka for the map to Skywalker. JUST LIKE THE ASSAULT ON JAKKU AT THE BEGINNING OF THE TRILOGY!

One thing that everyone seemed to forget when it came to the writing of this film, is the writers themselves....allow me to explain the critical aspect of filmmaking that is often missed when criticizing these films. The writers, they sit down at a table to discuss how the movie is to be made, Ok, so that means that they all had to agree on and share idea's that they thought would be good for the film, and eliminate ideas that they thought would be bad....ok....so this means that they all sat at that table and agreed that bringing back Palpatine and rendering the ENTIRE Prequel and Original trilogy pointless was a good idea, they thought that making a Thousand Star Destroyers that blow up planets despite the sheer insanity of their existence and how they raise the stakes only to slap them right back down by saying they don't know how to go up was a good idea, they thought that using the force to heal life threatening wounds and even bring people back from the dead therefore killing every bit of stakes imaginable from now on when a Force user is involved was a good idea.... This has got to be the most infuriating issue with these films, these things have to go through COUNTLESS people and writers in order to be approved, this means that everyone who wrote or had some part in the making of this film did not give two craps about ANYTHING. They didn't care about the characters, the continuity, the Stories before and after, or ANYTHING AT ALL. A lot of people blame JJ Abrams, but everyone who sat at that table needs to be FIRED because they allowed this dumpster fire of a script and story to pass on into the final cut and thought people would be ok with it.....If that's how easy it is to get a job as a writer and be this bad? I don't care to see anymore SW content.

This film had two good scenes, as far as I’m concerned: Chewie’s reaction to Leia’s death and Rey sliding down the sand at the Lars homestead. It’s the only character moment she’s had since her introduction in TFA. I enjoyed seeing her doing something that was just her being herself, being a person, instead of being “the protagonist” which is all of her personality otherwise.

The movie was a joke because we are still in the exactly same positions that we left off in episode 6 how can anyone consider this a sequel because nothing have change the republic are gone and the Jedi is gone they made the og characters worthless and die honestly this felt like a AU fanfic of what if the original characters failed with there goal in movies form but terrible story telling only reason it felt like an AU is the second Death Star was completely obliterated in the end of episode six nothing would have survive it including the emperor throne room seriously rewatch the return of the Jedi throne room scene or check the sketch of it there was no hidden room.

Absolutely. It is just a worse remake of the originals in the end. Nothing is progressed and very little is explained. The people behind the films needed to plan everything out and should have took their time to write a story that would've made sense. This honestly feels like fanfic and even the cast members joke about how bad the film is. Why should I be tense or scared by the thousands of star destroyers if they can just be blown up by shooting the canon so easily? Same here. It was this movie that really solidified for me that this trilogy was a big letdown and in no way as good as the original trilogy. It also was the film that made me didn't like the Last Jedi finally and made me realized that The Last Jedi is not that good either. I just don't care about Star Wars really anymore and I am no longer excited for any movies they plan to release. Only thing I have interest in is the Mandalorian and even I think that show is a bit overrated but I still like it more than the sequel trilogy. What I hope is that Disney makes something like an old republic series and hopefully puts more thought and effort to make it good than they did with this. We will see what happens I guess.

I thought it was not well done and horribly distracting. They would have been better off killing her offscreen and having Ghost Luke take her place.

I think in my head what I meant to say by retcon is that the scene is to fix/apologize for the terrible treatment of luke and the things that made the fans upset such as Luke tossing the saber very disrespectfully. I mean.....there were *some* Tie Fighters that were capable of jumping into Hyperspace. The most famous Example is of course Darth Vader's Ship, and I think some of Sidious' imperial Guards also had Tie's that could Hyperspacejump.

@@johannesseyfried7933 Not the original TIE fighter model, which is the model (constantly) used, not only by Poe, but the ninth movie. These TIE fighters were made cheaply and disposable. They were the stormtroopers of the fleet. No shields, barely any armor, and just sublight engines. The Empire also made it so if a pilot wanted to leave, he couldn’t jump out of the system. The whole point of them was cheap and many, pilots who didn’t make it (their lifespans were incredibly short) had many replacements, and the good ones often got promoted as their worth was found. I would even believe that it has changed but the TIE fighters are still the same small size that couldn’t fit an engine that size. Heck, TIE pilots could barely fit, and they needed vacuum suits and breathing equipment, which would have needed them to be larger. We’re now talking about a TIE the size of Vader’s or an X-Wing, that not only raised the costs of each one but it also increases their size and decreases maneuverability, making them need shields or making them just a much larger and easier target. And yes, that’s one flaw of many that I can point out. Being fair, I see your point, but those are modified TIE’s, not the ones constantly used in the ST. They could’ve had them in modified TIE’s, or even a prototype flown by pilots who are (very) high up in the ranks. Baron Fel was actually Wedge’s Imperial counterpart and he flew TIE’s, usually Interceptors. But when you take the originals and add all this stuff just because, well, you get my reaction.

She just doesn’t get why I can’t stand the new trilogy and especially Rebels (I suffered through that despite all the childhood ruining moments), and don’t get me wrong: It had it’s moments, but for every good moment I can point out fifteen wrong ones. The TIE fighters, Leia flying around like Mary effing Poppins, Luke Skywalker, Wedge’s backstory, the talking wolves. And some of it was thrown into that bonfire Disney and KKK made, but it doesn’t make me less angry or upset about it. Especially since a lot of the things before Disney and KKK got their claws into the series made sense and actually had some strong scientific backing. This is just a mess. Example: In the EU, Luke at one point floated down from the upper atmosphere. Undetected, why? Because he slowed his heartbeat and breathing down to the point where he was considered dead by the sensors. He literally was considered killed, this took all of his concentration to pull off, and he was a Jedi Master at that point. My mom compared it to monks after training all their lives being able to sit in robes in the Himalayas during the day and meditate to the point where they could be considered dead because of how slow their breathing and heartbeat was, not including the fact that they could control their own body temperature. Not floating out in space like Leia.

Alright so just my opinions on some points made in the video : Tbf palpatine's resurrection could have been possible since in the dark horse comics, palpatine DID come back several years after the destruction of the second death star, using sith alchemy to transfer his soul from clones to clones of himself and DOES rebuilt the empire but the difference with this and the rise of Skywalker is that it doesn't pull unseen stunts out of nowhere. The way palpatine was defeat wasn't the use of super strong force powers, isn't the use of recklessly going head to head with the dark empire but instead Luke (who was still young) feints the act of joining the emperor and becoming his apprentice, using this act to gain his trust and access to his clones (which he promptly destroys) and ends with someone SACRIFICING their life to stop palpatine for good. So yeah, his revival COULD happen but didn't have to and could have been handled better. For the part about tie fighters being able to perform hyperspace jumps, that existed during the time of the empire but only certain variations of it being able to do so. The force lighting from Rey was absolutely bs, first (as stated in the vid) it's a sith ability which requires you to tap into a person's anger/pain/sadness/fear (which is DARK SIDE of the force) which also goes against the Jedi code in general (unless your mace windu or smtg). Ah yes Rey's op use of the mind trick ability. Look, it could have been done but again, she has no damn training. No matter how long you stay isolated and play sword fight with trees is NOT going to make you capable in manipulating minds. Even Ezra (someone who was hated by the fandom when he first debut) even he needed some trial and error to master the ability. For the stormtrooper bit and on how incompetent they are, there really isn't any *good* defence for that argument as they should be more efficient at their jobs ie having at least decent aim, have decent and logical shifts (not leaving an entire fucking hangar empty and unguarded) and have some armour that actually protects them. The force facetime, it, shouldn't, exist. I don't what more to say. Like sure it made some sense in last Jedi with snoke connecting them together but the nonsensical side of that was just cranked to 11 in this movie with them being able to (for some reason) interact with both each other and objects around them. Why is that? Never really explained. Ah the infamous frame perfect, angle perfect use of the dagger to locate the wayfinder. Of course, we all know it's absurd. The chances of that happening is almost impossible with how accurate it was. And for the other points made in this video? I absolutely agree and since I don't have much to add on upon what was said I'll just end this here.

I like the idea of the past Jedi lending a hand to Rey, but it canonically can’t happen. Qui-Gon was the first to learn the ability to become a force ghost but died before learning how to be anything more than a voice. Yoda learned it towards the end of the Clone Wars and later taught Obi-Wan, who taught Anakin as he was dying & I’d assume Luke as well. MAYBE Leia learned it though him, but I’m not sure how quickly one can learn the ability. Yoda had to go on a journey while Anakin learned it pretty much instantly. My point is that the scene where everyone talks to her is one of many things in this film that breaks canon. Only a handful of people knew how to even project their voice after death, and about 90% of the Jedi they had speak to her were long gone before anyone could’ve even told them that doing this was possible.

Something that always annoyed me regarding battles such as the Battle of Exogol; the 'Little Boy' bomb dropped on Hiroshima had a nominal yield somewhere between 12 and 18 kilotonnes, or 12,000 to 18,000 TONS of TNT. Let's call it 15 Kilotonnes (Kt) for simplicity. Trident missiles deployed by the USA can carry 10 MIRVs, which are each independently targetable warheads, launched from the nose of the rocket at apogee, or just after, it's peak altitude, when it starts to head back down towards Earth from the edge of space. The Mk.5 W88 warhead that each of the ten MIRVs can carry has a nominal yield of 475 Kt. 475. Thousand. Tons of TNT equivalent. Times 10. Now, I'm not a military strategist or anything, but looking at all those Last Order Star Destroyers hovering in tight formation over Exogol my first thought was "yep, a couple, three Tridents with Mk.5 MIRVs should do it"... As close together as they were, just ONE 475 Kt warhead would probably take out a half dozen Star Destroyers, maybe more. But, in the FUTURE, where everyone has lightspeed spaceships, they have to go attack all those ships one by one with tiny little X-wing fighters, and whatever oddball craft they can scrape together, going pew! pew! that are easily picked off...?! Color me crazy, but if they can build a DEATH STAR, then surely even the lowly resistance could scrape together a couple thermonukes, or the galaxy far, far away equivalent of, which I would imagine would be WAY more powerful... Yes? I'd like to see sci-fi that shows the kinds of weapons that would realistically exist. If we can build Trident missiles here on Earth in our current state of technological evolution, then certainly the Republic could field a few MIRVs, right? Anyway, sorry for the long rant... I always had an idea for a potential rewrite(s) that might help: Have Ben Solo be a complete letdown of a Jedi. Have him be unable to do the most basic force powers despite his parentage. Have him simply lashing out at everybody who had high expectations of him. You could even make Luke a bad teacher; trying to teach Ben through yoda-like methods, with Ben thinking it’s pointless. Then have Snoke basically whisper to him that the dark side can give him the powers he lacks. Have Ben start using the dark side in order to get quick power, and have Luke try to strike him down. You keep Ben as a redeemable character, since he’s afraid to lose his power and go back to being a failure. If they keep Rey as a nobody, you also create a conflict between “somebody nobody expects is strong, has extreme power” vs. “somebody that everybody expects is powerful is actually weak” Additionally, lean into the diad thing more. Have Rey’s powers come not from her, but have the Diade basically link Rey and Ben’s abilities together from birth. So anytime Rey used the force, it was a combination of her power with Ben’s powers. Any Skype call they use is because the Force is basically shared between them. You create more motivation for Ben to kill Rey, since Rey is the reason Ben couldn’t use the force properly. You even have Ben think that killing Rey will give him full use of his power.

First of all, this means that ANYONE could have saved the day, the protagonists are replacable. Amen, sir. This trilogy....especially this film....is just a depressing experience for anyone who grew up with the originals. No charm, no heart, barely any structure. It's just trying SO hard and you can smell it a mule away. I've resigned myself to the fact that Star Wars is gonna die a slow, agonizing, completely death on Disney+ in the form of medicore spinoffs and more bad films. It's already happening. That said, hell of a review!

The only STAR WARS SCENES to me were: Darth Vader's helmet scene, The crazy little dude laugh (HEHÊEEEE) (SO GOOD. SO STAR WARS), and the very end, the starying at the two suns..

Little late for the party, but at least in the OT, it's explained (through the EU, mind you) that the Rebels weapons were black market stuff, things that were arguably more powerful than the weapons of the Emperor. What, did the First Order outsource the armor to Build-A-Bear? Edit: Also, SWTOR did the Emperor returning better, since it was explained that he utilized Essence Transfer and had a meat puppet ready for him, what, months after his initial death? And, as an addendum, having Rey keep the name Palpatine and turn the name into something that isn't as feared in the galaxy, making Sheev seem like the black sheep of his line, would have been much better.
