"Why are Hughie and Starlight meeting on the subway?" Because of the chip. The chip that Vought uses to track her. The same one that gets removed later in the season. The chip that she mentions on the scene that plays in the background while you talk. Addressing the "this decision is so stupid" points (that seems to be the majority tbh): A character making a bad decision (that doesn't even breaks character, as seen with Homelander hurting Blindspot, The Deep beaching the whale, etc.) does not mean that the writing is bad. This is characterization. You seem to analyze every scene as if you were in the same situation and had hindsight on the outcome. "Look, this scene is dumb because I would not do it like this, because I watched the show, see?". And then you lost me when you decided to spend an eternity listing every single way Kimiko could have comunicated the word "brother". - "She doesn't know how to write" - "But she could learn" - "..." And this pattern repeats itself every single time, I swear. Homelander: *constantly kills or hurts people just because he can, since season 1, so much that the whole point of the show so far is to make him and other supers face the consequences of their actions* - "But this isn't smart, only a psycho would do it" Butcher: *sees that Homelander is using the baby as leverage against him and decided to blow everything up out of spite* - "Butcher would never do this, Homelander is using the baby as a hostage to prevent this" What is the point? I don't get it.

Yeah, the whole conflict within Homelander is the constant switch between his desire to be loved and his bloodthirst. That's what makes him unpredictable. Not only he's a psycho that enjoys killing random people, he's also a gigantic narcissist that thinks he's the embodyment of perfection. The mere existence of a disabled superhero is perceived as a great insult to him and his image. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out

You are very right, I was just gonna say something about the butcher scene, him wanting to blow up the house despite it might hurting the baby is in character because over the rest of the season its shwoing that butcher is morally grey

> butcher is made a psychopath That's kinda the point - he may not get thrills from killing people, but he is really really far from saint, or even generally being a decent person.
@killian93142 жыл бұрын
I have to respectfully disagree on the "butcher would not have killed the baby" that is simply not the type of good guy butcher is meant to be going by source material, granted the show hasn't shown him to be that raw and i doubt it will. but even so, logically speaking knowing a certain death comes, a moment of pure selfish gloathing is awarted in a fact that despite his plans are twarted he can still go out on his own terms, instead of whatever unspeakably horrible torture homelander would get him killed with, baby being collateral. yes he would be killing a baby, when you are a dead man, doubt you'd care tbh.

3:25 If you are not sure if that's how it would work you should take a look into the private military sector (in the US or abroad) and you will find out that it actually would work because of a collection of things called "money, connections and power leverages".

I feel like you're trying to mind read the intentions of the writing staff or like you're feeling attacked by them. Like Storm Front is saying egalitarian messaging because it is a popular and likable view point, while secretly being a shit bag, they arn't saying being an egalitarian is bad.

1:21:20 additionally, later when Stormfront and Homelander are in a relationship, while he likes her constantly jerking him about how powerful and perfect he is, he clearly doesn't like it when she starts talking about it in context of race. This flat out just isn't a part of his character and never was. Homelander definitely has his share of problems, but racism is not among them.

That’s a lot of damage Noir suffered from that blast! I don’t know about the timeline but it didn’t look that bad in the Almond Joy scene. I know he heals fast but really? I hope he has a sensitive medical team! Poor guy.

This deserves more views. You explain your criticisms well with supporting evidence and offer possible solutions, and give praise when you think it’s deserved. Thank you for deconstructing the writing to show how cynical and thin a lot of it is. I look forward to Part 2! And what Season 3 is going to bring. It feels like it’ll be more of the same unfortunately: interesting ideas, good actors, weak writing.

homelander could withstand the bus... if he has anything to stand on stromfront doesn't know extent of powers of kamiko deep is, well, not really a smart guy. later he could move the whale with the help of other sea creatures and some rope, but I doubt he even though about "later" in the moment
@theenrichmentcritic2 жыл бұрын
So homelander who has the same power level of superman needs to be on the ground to withstand a bus? Where is that evident in the powers we see homelander display? ANd even if we give him that, why didn't he just fly up immediately afterword. Why was he down there for like 10 minutes? Literally a truck can not hurt him, nor rubble. And he is so strong he should fly through that no problem. He is superman. In terms of Kamiko, I am going to need to know what argument you are addressing. ALso, thank you for agreeing with me that the Deep is dumb. It was really dumb of him regarding the whole whale thing
@Bokto12 жыл бұрын
@@theenrichmentcritic on kamiko I mean 1:16:00 Homelander - it's just physics on the withstand part. Why he haven't jumped after landing that's a legit question I agree that deep is dumb, but that's not a plothole, that's his character. Don't forget - maybe not all, but most sups in-universe are not trained, battle-hardened soldiers. They are clout chasing showmen who overuse their given power. Ofc incompetence should not be "get out of jail free" card, but I think there is some leeway here
@dethpooldeadpool62032 жыл бұрын
@@theenrichmentcritic no Homelander isn't Superman he's closer to Omniman than Superman in terms of strength (even then he would be weaker than Omniman since he couldn't even save a plane and viltrimites are basically world destroying threats single handedly) durability (omniman is able to take hits from mutiple viltrimites and Allan who are both world distroying threats meanwhile homelander can barely survive a nuke) and speed (weaker than Omniman since Omniman is able to travel to far away solar systems within the galaxy within days) the only similarities he has to Superman is his powers but even those are extremely nerfed compared to Superman he's also never faced a single fight that didn't end with him lazering the opponent to death since everyone in the Boyz is incredibly weak compared to most super hero series

Season 1 was really what the show was about and the tone/themes seemed more like a parody, where the other seasons started focusing on the characters and the parody aspect took a backseat. The first season was just more fun, to me. Loq

Later this year. I was originally gonna release it in the summer but I may have to delay it. I honestly may be more interested in doing a Loki in depth analysis first cause it may be a good time to do so. Also, I am trying to get a job working in photography so that is taking up a bit of my free time. But I am gonna make it and it should be out later this year. I will just have to decide if I want to do Loki first or second as well as balancing other tasks in my life. Hopefully when it does come out, you will like it.
