My guess is that they cut 'Biting the Bullet' because it didn't make since. Tassadar glassed the planet from 'Trump Card,' so it wouldn't make since for him to not blast everything, both Terran and Zerg, from orbit.

Just watching the early bits right now, setting up those first Missile Turrets, and I'm just thinking to myself "Oh man Jay, you have NO IDEA." Even just on normal, the air attacks and drops from that right side can get pretty vicious - not to mention the presence of Guardians.

There's some strange inconsistency in what custom models the team used for the regular version of the mod. They used those SC1-looking Carrier models despite being looking noticeably worse than the Blizzard models (maybe that's harsh, but they at least look noticeably different in style and texture or something...), but didn't use a custom model for Academies, or Queen's Nests, or Defiler Mounds, or Tassadar's portrait...

before you go to mission 9 new gettysburg, its better to chose the non city tileset as there is a bug which allow unit to pass through building near the bridge where the protoss attack, the bug do not occur in the space tileset map

I actually think that of the two scrapped missions, Operation Silent Scream should be slipped in, with New Gettysburg becoming the 10th mission. That way there's a more apparent level of interaction between Raynor and Kerrigan, and there's one less "destroy everything"-like mission. Operation Silent Scream just seems to me a better mission than The Hammer Falls.

@@k-leb4671 The actual final Terran mission "The hammer Falls" always felt tacked on and rushed too me, even as a kid its pretty anti-climactic as an epilogue. The New Gettysburg mission is the true climax to the The Rebel Yell Terran campaign.

I played this map and kinda wiped out the orange zerg and all of the blue zerg right down to that last hive part and it messed it up lol. the zerg came but it just abruptly ended the level and went on to the next level without tassadar showing up. think i have a save game where i could go back and do it differently though

When I played The Hive was the last building I destroyed There were no zerg spawn after that like Duke said And there were no Protoss as well

1:02 "This defensive crap just isn't working." I wonder what exactly this "defensive crap" was that Raynor was referring to. I'm guessing this is an artefact from scrapped writing, because I don't really remember the Sons of Korhal taking a big defensive stance on anything.

Heh.I think this may also be because they wanted 10 missions total for each campaigns (it's a nice round number) and it clashes a bit with the "trump card", plot wise. In the Trump card you are the one who litterlay called the zerg on the confederates so you could escape in the confusion. Yet here you are standing, crippling the Zerg so other can escape instead. It's not compeltely incompatible but it is a bit odd in the order of things. Also the early introduction of Tassadar may eb why they removed it. I do wish it had been kept in some form tho, the son of Khoral actualy saving the Antigan civilains would have been a great way to explain why people are following them. And the little bit of banter between raynor and Duke mirros nicely the one in The Big Push

3/3 scouts aren't good? XD maybe not in compettive MP but in SP campaigns they tear through bases like a plasma knife through butter.

If you have the resources, maybe. The problem with scouts is their damage to mineral cost is just a lot worse compared to basically every other Protoss unit you can make, and the upgrades for them are equally expensive. They only really exist to counter capital ships, with the ironic side effect that they're so good at that one job they make it impractical to make capital ships against Protoss. If you need ground damage, Dragoons, Reavers, and Templar just do the job better.

This mission from a story wise perspective doesn't make sense with the other missions. I can see why they took it out. Tassadar character's hasn't developed to be friendly yet with the humans at this point

Eh, it kind of fits with it fine. Antiga Prime is the first time Tassadar tried to fight the Zerg on the ground to allow the Terrans to evacuate as much people as they could. Aldaris mentions in the first Protoss mission that Tassadar was trying to fight the Zerg while sparing the Terrans from the flame. It would be great to actually see this in action here. Sure, there might be dissonance later on in mission 9 when you're fighting the Protoss as Kerrigan, but that just adds to it in my opinion.

James Upton Yes it's true he spared them but that only started with Tarsonis. Before Tarsonis he was still happily glassing all the infected terran planets. He glassed Antiga Prima too, just as he did with Chau and Mar Sara. He never went to the surface to combat them at that point he was still believing in the Conclave's will. So no, it doesn't kind of fit with it fine. Character development is a thing you know.

Wrong. In Liberty's Crusade, his ground troops were involved in combat with the Zerg to buy the Terrans time to evacuate on Antiga Prime. Only at the last minute did he purify the planet. He only stopped purifying planets at Tarsonis. And no, he was never happy with purifying planets. He did it unhappily as stated by Dark Templar Saga Twilight. Character development from the books fits this level perfectly.

James Upton Yeah but that only happened in the book and books are not considered canon. The games precede the books in this game and ingame this never happened he did not land his troops on Antiga. And yeah maybe he was unhappy but he still had no sympathy with the Terrans, only Raynor. If you play the protoss campaign in one mission he was threatening duke and his alpha squadron to destroy them if they did not leave him alone.

What we don't see in the games does not instantly override what we do see in the books. Tassadar has sympathy with terran life in general. He was just telling Duke to get out of his way since he was blocking the Templar's path to Zeratul. Tassadar already didn't kill Duke out of pity from Twilight when the Norad 2 was approaching the Executor's fleet by itself.
