This pattern is like some overlay mosaic crochet patterns I've done, but in one color instead of alternating colors. It creates such nice texture.

Got my 1st square done, after many frogs. Definitely couldn’t even have got started without this video! I kept making mistakes on the join side, so finally I cut my yarn, and re-joined in a corner so the 4 sides would be exactly the same, so much easier!! I should have done that back at the beginning🤪

I'm with you on that one ... it's always so much easier to start at a corner!

@@kurlikew954 funny thing is, after getting through a few of the squares I decided to try again with the join she uses in the pattern, and it clicked! Not at all as hard as it seemed when starting. Since then I have made 2 blankets. Love that it doesn’t get boring!

This was a delightful piece of work and my favourite kind of pattern - simple stitches in an easy repeat, worked to great visual effect. It was quite easy to figure out how the pattern worked after working the first 4 rows, and how to scale the square to a desired size (I made 12 inch squares with a chunky yarn). I love the final look and feel of this square, and I'm excited to start working on another square in this series

Thank you so much for this WONDERFUL tutorial! You have made this both easy to follow as well as slow and simple enough for a novice crocheter like myself. I have thoroughly enjoyed learning something with a pattern, and can't wait to start the next blocks. Thank you, thank you for your time in doing this!!

Thank you for this great video. Learned a lot. My square didn't look right, now I know why, lol. I hooked into the FL from above (I absolutely dont know why) and in some rounds I didnt get the first st right. I will frog, start again but will use a 4,5 mm hook for my DK yarn and do the first rounds while watching your video ..... tomorrow morning .... with coffee :-).

Unless you knot that strand that makes the 'magic' loop it will come undone. That is not 'secure' and on Facebook I have seen many, many posts about centers of squares coming apart after using this technique. Please add a note to tell people to knot the yarn before they weave in the end in the center of the square.
@everytrickonthehook4304

Thanks for the tip! But a double magic circle, as performed here, is much more secure than a regular magic circle that often gives people problems when it loosens later. That said, you should never just snip the yarn after using a double magic circle. Always, always, always weave your end in well (i.e. back and forth at least once, maybe twice to be sure) and you'll be good to go!

The video was hard to watch as the camera was held too close to the work. The images kept flicking back and forth. The narrative was good and easy to follow.

I can't figure out this double magic circle for love nor money. When you put the hook into the loop, I can't see what you're doing.

If you are determined to get it, I demonstrate for each square so it may be easier to see on a different video. If you don't want to, you don't have to bother with it at all. Just chain 4, slst to join and make a loop, then make your round 1 stitches into that loop.

I really like this pattern but would rather work something in one whole piece. Could you just continue making rounds until you have it at a size for a blanket? Thanks.
@everytrickonthehook4304
@everytrickonthehook4304 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Karen! It hasn't been tested at this size and sometimes unexpected things happen to patterns when they get bigger and bigger. That said to cover myself... I actually think this pattern would work well at a large size and I believe at least one or two other people are attempting to make baby blankets out of it. You might experience some twisting as the pattern grows, but some blocking can take care of that in a jiffy.

It works well as a blanket. I made a baby blanket with the pattern with no issues. Currently working on an adult size.

Thank you for the video instruction. However, since this is going to be a "paid" crochet along, perhaps it would be a good idea to have a code word or # in order to view the videos, otherwise the patterns become available for free via youtube video. Do you know what I mean? I'm looking forward to this crochet along. Thanks again. ; )
