Okay. The 304s had the absolute coolest sublight sound ever. If you have a surround sound system with a nice fat subwoofer, these things going by the camera going BWABWAHBWAHBWAHBWAH was just epic. They also nailed the massive, heavy feel to the ships, especially in the Atlantis fight scenes.

Daedelus is a great capital ship, but Stargate/homeworld command needs a mid-range corvette similar to Gaould Alkesh and Waraith Cruisers. If they do go back to Stargate series again, a light cruiser should be commissioned, maybe call it the Thor-Class (the Asgard are mostly gone, but they did name a ship after Jack, and let's face it Enterprise will get copyright lawsuits from CBS)

They were basically AA guns, their main reason to exist was to keep enemy fighters and bombers at bay (though their effectiveness in that regard is debatable given how many darts and gliders we see get through over the years).

Grimm1223 Hmm, yeah seems weird how uneffective they are at both roles. In that case you would expect MUCH more launched missiles in ship-to-ship combat, yet launched missiles were very scarce in series aswell. Overall it was quite baffling how super modern space battlecruiser looked like he could be matched in firepower by WW2 battleship.... :D In fact, from whole series I think that most effective weapons system of pre-asgard daedalus class were his F-302 fighters, effective in many roles and situations. If it had more of these, each armed with missiles (or more nukes, yay) it would make it great carrier.

i won't compare SG1 and SGU.... completly different format i liked the much more dramatical and dark tone of SGU... but the writers screwed up by spending the 2 whole season introducing the characters story and, instead of developping around new species and worlds the possibilities could have been infinite, unfortunatly they were so focus in a way too replace Battlestar galactica that they lost the Stargate touch.... Sad

I liked the design of the Prometheus. It looked exactly like what it was supposed to be. A butchered together prototype that did well for it's size. The BC-304 design on the other hand always felt a bit flat, but they were clearly more advanced with a design reasonable for earth's military with a few years of experience on alien technology. It is a FTL capable spaceship, but still got simple elevators, wall mounted telephones, and railgun/rocket weapon design.

I think what I loved the most about the Daedalus Class was how it was an Earth ship that looked like the perfect transitional craft. The Prometheus looked like a flying brick with parts thrown haphazardly onto it, which made a lot of sense since it's Earth's very first starship. But all the other races, from the Goa'uld to the Asgard, had a certain focus on aesthetic that came from experience in space, and the Daedalus looks like it fits perfectly in-between Tau'ri functionality and alien elegance. When I look at the Daedalus I can just tell that this is going to be the first in a long line of spacecraft, and you really get a sense that Earth is coming into it's own as an interstellar power.

To any of you who think the ship was to small: the reason the wraith and the ori could create such large ships is because use they had multiple planets under there control, the U.S. did not have earth under there control and could not give the SGC the money and resources it needed because it would create suspicion plus when you think about it is the same size as many battleships of the first and second world wars and those ships had an average crew of around 2 thousand compare to a ship of the same length but a much larger width but with a crew of 200 and you'll see it is much more realistic

A heads-up on this ship if you do make a video on it: While the ship's stats and specs are solidly defined, its appearance is not. As a result there are multiple designs for this vessel, although the most commonly accepted one is the one from the Empire at War mod "Thrawn's Revenge".

The Destiny is a far older design. Before the construction of Atlantis. It stands to reason the Ancients had much stronger presence and industry at the time of it's commission. As much as 50 million years ago. In fact I'd go as far as saying Destiny passed the Pegasus galaxy before the Alliance of the four great races.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before but the original model for a BC 304 was 600+ meters. This makes sense when you consider that each flight pod is a simplified carrier, although I believe they are always below the maximum capacity number of 302 on board. What has always seemed strange to me about this number is the apparently small crew and construction time for such a ship. I mean, even if we use more wartime logistics and manpower, taking as an example an Iowa class battleship took what, two years to complete? Even with more advanced technology it shouldn't take less time to build such a large ship.

Nit picking here but oh well. In the databank entry text for utilities, you have ZPM capabilities listed as USAF Odyssey only. That's incorrect, the USAF Daedalus used an earth found ZPM to make the intergalactic trip in under a week vs 3 weeks no ZPM during the Atlantis mulipart episode the siege. After the Daedalus arrives the ZPM is beamed down to Atlantis with personnel(not recalling exactly who) to supplement the almost completely discharged remaining Lantean ZPM.

One bad thing is that the bridge of those ships are always in the most vulnerable position. It should be in most shielded area. We don't need windows in spaceship bridge. We have cameras and screens that can zoom in from long distance. You can't see most other ships with naked eyes anyway.

I love the design of the Daedalus class it's just the right size of ship not to big not to small given its capabilities. I used to think Big Ships were always the way to go after serving in the Navy i can say that smaller is sometimes better. This allows for a long sustained trip but is small enough too not need a big crew to run it.

The Turtle defense design. Harden shell defended by shields with fighter craft for both offensive and defensive use. Optimal alien technology designed into the ship. Limited crew was a design flaw for ground attack. What I do not understand is why the Asguard did not gift the O'Neil class ships to SG1. They gifted all there knowledge to them.
