This is one of the greatest franchises ever made, you're in for one hell of a ride. Just in case nobody has mentioned this yet, you're going to want to look up an SG1/Atlantis watch order list. Because the two shows aired in parallel for a few seasons they both contain major spoilers for each other if not watched in the proper sequence.
@xXShadDragXx
@xXShadDragXx Жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly there were several paired episodes that were written with the expectation that you would see the episodes aired back to back.
@KorAsek453
@KorAsek453 Жыл бұрын
@@xXShadDragXx there wasn't really paired episodes, them airing back to back is just how it was during the overlap seasons. Each week you'd have one new episode of SG1 and one new episode of Atlantis. Of course, each show would occasionally mention something that had happened on the other show or even feature a character that was normally on the other show. That's where you run into a potential problem for people watching for the first time now. If you just binge SG1 beginning to end, then you have several seasons with references to major events in Atlantis that will not only be spoilers but also won't make any sense until you start watching Atlantis. Unfortunately the only way to avoid the spoilers and confusion is to bounce back and forth between the two shows starting at the point where the Atlantis series kicks off.

One of the things you’ll notice different from the movie is O’Neill’s sense of humor, it’s been longer since the death of his son and he has worked through that trauma some more. It was also a condition of Richard Dean Anderson taking the roll, he wanted to be a little funnier than Kurt Russell played him in the movie.

I've just made it to season seven in my rewatch and I have been struck by 1) how dramatically the series improves at the start of each season, and 2) how much thought and care went into the show at every level. The people who made this series really cared about it.

Stargate! I love Stargate. Great franchise, but very long (17 seasons over a span of 14-15 years), with a great story, great actors, all around fun time. I've rewatched it probably a dozen times. Enjoy! You will notice there is a difference in casting compared to the original film. Richard Dean Anderson plays O'Neill instead of Kurt Russel, and Michael Shanks plays Daniel Jackson instead of James Spader. When they asked RDA to play O'Neill, and he saw the movie, he said he would never play O'Neill, because in the film the guy is very hard, no humor, so to make RDA be in this show he changed up the character so he felt comfortable playing him. Which is why most people like Stargate so much. Michael Shanks plays the continuation of James Spader's Daniel Jackson for the most part.

That wouldn't be any different than cleaning any other part of the gate room. The iris is so close to the event horizon that matter doesn't have a chance to reintegrate, so all that's hitting it is just scattered subatomic particles.

They go to many wonderful different worlds, there's "Vancouveria", "Colombia Britannica", "New Canada", "Nova Kelowna" and other such memorable temperate rainforests. Seriously though you're in for a wonderful time, it's a fantastic series with so much heart and imagination. Some people find many early-season episodes a bit weak, but I watched those as they aired and they were great then and I still find them great. It is of its time I suppose. The late seasons are more graphically impressive, and still well worth watching, but I find they get a bit too comfortable. The spin offs are mostly good, particularly SGU which has amazing visual production, great sound production, solid stories and although a bit of a tonal shift I think it was a great series. Your reaction was enjoyable, I hope you carry on all the way to SGU. A lot of reactors stop after a while which is a shame particularly with Stargate SG-1 and spin-offs because there's so much payoff in the later series and continuity and a certain amount of in-jokes make the series very rewarding while also keeping it from taking itself too awful seriously, which is all to the good.

So up until season 6 the show was on the premium channel called Showtime. The show was then broadcast on the basic channel Fox to help with finanaces. Then in season 6 or 7 it moved to the Sci-Fi Channel because Show Time didn't want it anymore. For the first five seasons we'll be seeing some truly alien cultures and species. The concepts behind these aliens and cultures was quite imaginative and its really interesting to watch.

I don't know if Medusa is your name, but I don't want to say "Hey You!" so... I have to tell you, it's hard to find someone, anyone, who watches and reacts to shows with real enthusiasm. YOU ARE A BIG SPLASH OF REFRESHING VIEWING. I try and try to find people who dispense with the sarcastic remarks, self-important critiques of what they're watching, jokes among the reactors that aren't funny (this happens when they're in a group), pontificating on how a scene reminds him or her of something, telling me he or she recognizes the actor from this or that, etc. I try to watch because I like the shows, but it's rare to find anyone who watches these shows as you're doing. You're paying attention and describing the action! Gee, who have thunk!!! Really enjoyable to watch. I wish the reactions were a bit longer, but you did leave a key scene in the edit: The scene in which Teal'c said O'Neill was the first one he thought could take on the Goa'uld. That was a key scene in introducing Teal'c, though you left out how Captain Carter was introduced. And she turns out to be a great addition. Still, it's so nice to find someone who exudes enthusiasm for the show and actually simply watches it. I can't wait to see all the reactions. Glad I did a generic search for Stargate. :) Oh, by the way...I liked the movie, but Richard Dean Anderson really made O'Neill a great character. Instead of the movie version, Anderson agreed to do the part if he could instill his sense of humor into the role. So you find as you go through the episodes, that he really likes to stick it to the bad guys right in their face. He's a lot of fun to watch.

A bit of trivia from my own life. I remember writing my first Job application while watching this. SG-1 is such a strong show. Even though a side character... Alexis Cruz's appearance brought validity to the show with the connection to the film. Such a great cast of Characters but lacks the chemistry of B5 and Farscape. Don Davis had a commanding presence but also a level of humanity to the role. Michael Shanks was so good as Daniel Jackson and really did justice to James Spader's performance in the Movie. You're right. The Air Force never does know what happened to the Air Force woman. It makes me wonder how the Air Force explained her loss to her family. She would have been listed "MIA, presumed dead" but this designation is almost always used in combat. It's much harder to explain for someone working in Colorado in peace time. The secrecy of this program meant that her family would never learn how their daughter/wife/sister/boy friend/ came to be MIA, presumed dead from what is possibly the most secure military outpost in the world, a base that is meant to be the command center in a nuclear war, not just for the United States but for all of NATO.
