I love "autoplay" games, where you get to make key decisions. It's not so much that it runs by itself and you don't have to do as much, I just find it fascinating to see things unfold.

Not sure if you'd be into the 4x genre, but Distant Worlds does this to the extreme. It has to though... the game is so complex that the devs wanted players to incrementally turn elements to manual control as they learned them.

This game looks like everything I kinda wanted from Ragnorum. I really enjoy the more hands-off, soft influence style of colony builder/manager. The games where you personally assign workers and allocate resource gathering points are all well and good, but there are quite a few of those in various flavors of subgenre. It's pretty cool to see this other style in a few new projects.

You want to be looking for the ...born trait. It looks like a swirly icon, and each character will have one. That character will favor tasks that match the color. Eg the fireborn will favor combat activities. That trait also boosts the relevant stat.

Colony survival with more hands off definitely have a place distinct from the more involved counterpart. It's nice to send the initial input and see the momentum carry on itself and just needing a nudge here and there to keep things in the direction you want to. Visuals are cook but I agree on some work needed on ui to make it a bit cleaner and clearer, its business isn't too bad imo.

The setting of the game seems weird and it's more likely that it will just turn some people off from the game with no upside to it. The artwork is awesome. Love how you don't give orders directly, instead you decide on a general path and the characters act based on that. UI doesn't seem great. Not immediately being able to tell which path you set them on would annoy me to no end. Maybe when choosing a new path upon level up it would open the tab which contains the path/skill, whatever it's called, that you chose last. When trying to equip an item you should be able to just hover over a character and have some kind of description of their traits/paths pop up, would make it much easier to tell who should get what item. Whenever you get a pop-up that a construction is complete it would be great if there was some kind of distinction between the alerts, some are basically buildings you place, you get an alert both when it's in your inventory ready to place and also after it's done "setting up", it's already been constructed, but then being constructed again, guess it's like Ikea furniture?, other things are equipment or something entirely different, like firewood. Making the alert for something ready to place yellow and that of a completed construction green would make a huge difference. Traditions/technology, it should be much easier to tell which technology unlocks which subsequent ones, just make a line connecting them like every other game developer does, you don't have to reinvent the wheel, just do what seems most intuitive to the player.

Ah liberation. I'd love to see what they do for a change, rather than being a control freak. If it's good or frustrating depend on how well made it is I guess, but it should make it so that you take things a little less serious, and that feels like a plus. More people should make games like this, but the AI is typically _the_ crux of coding it seems. Doesn't necessarily mean that there's great AI in this game though. It could all just follow scripts based on your choices and whatnot I guess. Variability and its capacity for surprising you might be where it's at here. Gonna keep an eye on this one.

A rule I made for myself a couple steam nextfests ago. I download all the demos that sound interesting and play them as I get a chance. If the demo gets locked or removed at the end of nextfest or soon enough after that I didn’t get a chance to play it, the game gets ignore clicked when I delete the disabled demo from my pc. You have a demo made, nextfest highlights that you have a demo available. If you are so ashamed of your demo that you need to remove it before I have time to play it, I don’t have time for your game.
