Miko Peled is an Israeli peace activist. His father Mattityahu Peled was was a well-known Israeli public figure who was at various periods of his life a professional military man who reached the rank of Aluf (Major General) in the IDF and was a member of the General Staff during the Six-Day War of 1967; a notable scholar who headed the Arabic Language and Literature Department of Tel Aviv University; a radical peace activist and a leading proponent of Israeli dialogue with the PLO and of complete withdrawal from the Occupied Territories in whose conquest he personally had a major role; and a member of the Knesset who often expressed controversial views considered "extreme left" in Israeli terms, yet was treated with considerable respect by staunch political people.

Imagine Americans having their taxes pay for things like free prescriptions. Imagine that your taxes pay for you to go to a doctor get diagnosed and a prescription which you can take to your pharmacist, get that filled all for free. This is the benefit that we get in Scotland through our taxes as well as medical treatment being paid for via taxes. I found that in America with the having a child from the start to the end with you going home. It could cost you upto $50,000 to have 1 child. In Scotland and likely the UK as a whole this isn't the case. Granted that this allows people with bad financial positions to have kids but also prevents people from putting themselves into debt just for creating the next generation for the country to proper.

@@miltonbguerrero3593 thanks for your insight, it's incredible that we lived for so long believing in the zionist narrative, without even questioning them. I myself always believed that the Arabs wanted to attach Israel and poor Israel was merely defending itself. I believed in the narrative that Palestinians were a using violence and using their kids as human shield (even though I must admit that I wasn't totally convinced about this and there was always a little doubt about this). But since Israel was, in my mind, the only democracy, etc. Etc. (all the BS the media used to make us believe), it was easy to find excuses and to accept that the high cost the palestinians were paying was due to their corrupt leaders. But one day, I met a fruit seller in a London Market and he said that he came from East Jerusalem. Once I asked him whether he intended to take a Christmas break to visit his family back home. The man's face changed from joy to a total sadness and he said that the Israeli government revoked his residency permit. I was shocked to learn that Arabs from East Jerusalem would automatically lost their right to reside in their own city, if they leave the city for more than 5 years (he was studying in the UK and was hoping to return home, but was denied entry, even though he'd only been out of his own country for 4 years only and not 5). This man ended up a refugee in Britain and could not visit his own family and his own land, where his family lived there for many, many generations!!! . I contrasted this with the tale of a colleague of mine, born and bred in East London - a blond with blue eyes (of Jewish origin). This colleague decided to settle in Israel and was given an instant residence, just because he's Jewish. To me, that was pure racism and from there on, my views about the conflict changed irrevocably. I regret believing the zionist propaganda and being so naive, and not doing my homework so to speak.
