Wow a video uploaded that's longer than 120 seconds. About time.
@cr0nosphere9 жыл бұрын
Doctor Tophat not really. i follow this channel and they only upload like 2 videos every couple weeks and they are at the most 120 seconds long... its at the most lazy and at the least offensive to people that actually want to hear a discussion about science.
@SMHangouts9 жыл бұрын
cr0nosphere Or you can go listen to the ACTUAL podcast. The KZbin videos are only to support, KZbin is not the main channel. Visit StarTalkRadio.net Hundreds ...seriously... HUNDREDS of hours of podcasts and materials to review.
@cr0nosphere9 жыл бұрын
Social Media Hangout fair enough although its not all that hard to cut the podcast up and just slap up a picture.
@SMHangouts9 жыл бұрын
It could be because of KZbin's restrictions with music that they would avoid doing so - StarTalk frequently uses musical clips throughout their regular shows. With a limited budget, and a limited staff, they have a system in place that is as efficient as possible to get it out to as many people as possible - sure, we could always repurpose content even more, get it on every platform ever - but by controlling the platform, they can also control the message, better keep tabs on discussion, conversation, and sharing - there are certain benefits to keeping it simple, and treating certain channels like a funnel - a one way trip to where you want the audience to listen. People get intrigued with these short clips - and hopefully head to the site to listen to the entire show or past episodes.

I was surprised at how chaotic it was. Some of the best ways of approaching the questions of consciousness and awareness, emotions, valence and the way human brain is capable of top-down processes that we call creativity. None of the questions even got asked, I would recommend seeing Dan Dennett give a talk, or Eric Kandel. Usually this is a great podcast, but it went off the rails and there were no questions about the mind, brain, new research, attachment, epigenetics, learning and how we manage relationships which could be so interesting. Please NeilDGT get experts, not just celebrities, we will all learn as you will learn new things and you will then give us so many new ways of thinking about it. Please do! Can we have another one on Neuroscience with neuroscientists and people who do philosophy of mind.

Listening to the opening part of the show my brain made the connection between the son on Bob's Burgers and the voice of Eugene Mirman. I heard it clear as day and now after looking it up I deem myself correct. So, you know, since I did that I'm sort of better than the rest of you. .......or not. Just an attempt low level of mirth so don't think I'm serious about that. Anyway I love listening to anything any show Neil deGrasse Tyson is on. During my brief (24hr =/-) coma, my wife said she spoke positive affirmations. I don't recall anything except waking up. I shouldn't have survived a couple surgeries. Everyone was led to think I had brain damage from the accident (motorcycle) and the coma (no 02 for more than four minutes). The first thing I'm told upon reviewing the MRIs (two) is that I shouldn't have been able to walk. Until age and heart issues, I walked for more than 15 years.

1. I’m an identical twin: you’re not the same person and, Niel, I know you know that lol 2. Consciousness is an incredibly complex finite state machine 3. Self aware isn’t like some barrier that animals can get to, it’s a lot more complex than that, and you can be self aware in a lot of ways. Most humans aren’t fully self aware lol
