I’m suffering from panic attacks and depression, and I often find myself overwhelmed by all the horrific news and generally frightening and hateful things happening in the world. I’m so much looking forward to the Sundays when you post. Your videos are extremely calming to me. And especially the love and care you show in everything you do. It envelops me like a safety blanket. I’m aware that this kind of living is filled with hardship, worries and difficult decisions, but life isn’t meant to be easy and you tackle the problems that arise with a lot of grace. Thank you for letting me escape for half an hour.❤

I can’t tell you what that final scene with your mum means to me. My own mother died 18 years ago and with every project I complete I long to hear her excitement and commendation. I’m working on a remodel project right now and as I watched your mom enthralled with your work, I allowed myself to imagine it was my own mother looking with pride and amazement on what I have done. So I guess thanks are in order for sharing those special moments.

Today, I watched you lift a roof support post without a jack or any sophisticated tools; just creative problem solving, grit and determination. And I also watched you start a deck - a project which scares you a little - but which I KNOW is going to turn out awesome. At 24:06, your mom said: "You'll be able to climb all the hills with these. I didn't even have that back in the day, but I was able to climb them anyways." 😁 It's not hard to see where you got your "I'm not going to let challenges stop me" attitude from. She's a treasure! (And so are YOU!) You have thousands of people cheering you on every step of the way whether you feel it or not. Go get it, girl!

I really loved how cinematic the first half of this video was. I greatly appreciate your highly analytical brain and direct approach to construction projects but it was a treat to see another side of your artistic expression. With the music and moody shots, it felt like a glimpse into your soul when we so often see through your mind. It was also great to see your mom. I literally paused the video when another human appeared just to make sure I didn’t miss a character introduction lol.

@jokevanduijvenbode37606 ай бұрын
@Pilot3336 ай бұрын

Purchase a couple of pry bars in various sizes…makes your work easier. Here at our house, we do most of the work ourselves too. Enjoying what you are learning and utilizing ‘physics’. I’m a visual person and use tools a bunch. Be careful with your manure from the horse farm…it needs to sit for about a year (to rid itself of any hay and grass seeds) or you’ll have a very weedy garden.

It is fabulous when someone sees your progress in person! Your Mum noticed all the right things and now gets to enjoy your hard work. I live in the Southwest US and have done years of work on 3 acres along an arroyo. I've come to appreciate terms like "leverage" when a spot I hope to dig and clear is obstructed with a huge rock. I've finished a mile-long path through the property this year all lined with rocks and it is quite lovely. We have become "friends" when I surrendered to their supremacy.

Ah yes, the deck challenge. I hope that's going well. A solid base is essential. When we had our deck replaced, the changes in design were so vastly superior to the previous 40yo deck that it was astounding to me how it impacted not just the stability, but aesthetic of the deck. The base feels more grounded to the hillside that our house is on, even though it's wood, concrete, and metal. The previous deck looked spindly in comparison. One can understand it intellectually, but until it's right in front of you, you don't receive the full impact.🪵 A late garden is better than no garden.🌱 A nerd of any interest will recognize another in this: there's a bike nerd appreciating new equipment!🤓 Thanks, Rosie!🖤

So nice to see your mum in her retirement visiting her daughter, relaxing outside with you with tea and some wonderful simple food. Even nicer to see you enjoying the same at your relatively young age. Enjoying the companionship with your mum, the surroundings, the beautiful fresh air, the tea and food. Perfect. Rosie I assume the holes you dug are for posts that will go below the frost line and you will fill the holes with gravel/sand at the bottom and pour concrete to fix the posts permanently in place. The concrete will take a month to cure so you might want to think about doing that as you wait for the lumber to get back into stock.
