When I first finished my RB build and was priming it, I had the same issues with the oil not moving in the engine. After a little research, found that there are commonly found issues with the installation of a new oil pump and getting an air lock in the pump. There is a procedure to turn the engine backward at the crank which applies a little reverse suction. In the end, I still wasn't seeing the oil traveling as far as needed. However, as soon as I fired the engine up for the first time, the oil immediately pushed the air lock and all was well. It boiled down to the RPMs not being high enough to get past the lock. Hope this helps

I had this oil pressure issue with oil not getting anywhere when I finished my SR into my R32, my problem was the oil filter was bottoming out on the relocation block, make sure that isn’t your issue and then make sure your lines are around the correct way, hopefully it’s as simple as that, scary stuff I was stuck for 2 days wondering what was going on and I was stressed I done damage but I had my car idling for about a minute and it done no damage and still going strong after a year so try not to stress hope you sort it soon man keep up the good work

New Zealand advice from an RB owner/racer. Your battery needs to be at 100% the engine is not cranking fast enough. Another thing I have done is pressurize the sump with compressed air, that will assist the oil going up the pick up.

Filling the oil pump with petroleum jelly before installation is the best way to ensure that the pump has enough lubrication to create the seal that is needed to pick up oil on start up every time. Through my years of building engines I have found filling the car through the oil pressure switch hole under pressure using a engine priming tool ensures that the pump, all the galleries, the expensive turbo and all the bearings are seeing oil before cranking or start up. Instant oil pressure on start up......

Starter definitely sounds like some cylinder or cylinders are missing compression, it makes that uneven sound. Obviously while "running" it was only running on few cylinders, but that could be just spark timing issue...

The oil pump is cavitating. You need to fill the cooler and as much airspace as possible. A normal motor has a resistance between bearings to help with bleeding. You added 1.5 qt system atleast of pure air

@bangarangjon51066 жыл бұрын
considering how much it was already spinning while cranking i"m reeally curious to see how the turbo will respond when tuned but that whole issue with no oil circulating isn't to serious, maybe missing a gasket for the oil pick up? who knows.
@gammalight13126 жыл бұрын
Hopefully they used some awesome assembly lube. Maby an oil seal leak at the pump pulling vacuum instead of oil or a gross over use of gasket maker goo? Backwards oil lines or a defective oil pump? Sketchy..

Yeah those bearings are not happy right now.

Did you prime the oil pump? Installing a bone dry pump will have just enough clearance between the gears that it will not draw a vacuum. I did that...ONCE!

So now that the Skyline has an ECU from the 21st century, how about the SR?
@imnota6 жыл бұрын
It was supposed to be for the sr, and Adam decided the Skyline needed it more. The 240 works fine with the stock ecu.
@thesam1016 жыл бұрын
double check the oil cooler/relocation lines are hooked up correctly, could be trying to force oil the wrong way through the filter, which the drain back valve would be preventing.
@Ltbookum6 жыл бұрын
When cranking for a long duration of time you might want to add a charger to the battery. The starter draws a lot of amps and will kill it prematurely or at the very least shorten it's life span. BTW a/any starter is actually overpowering itself from the factory thus they aren't coping well with long cranking sessions, they'll overheat. Not to mention the ecu might need to see at least 12v to start sending out a spark signal. Funny hearing about Post Haste Performance, I know them as the Volvo tuners from Drifts and Lifts. There indeed is a whole lot of land in between you and them.

Did you use the correct gasket on the oil pick up tube!!??? That will cause no oil pressure straight away. Common for people to mistake it. On high mount setup RBs crack the oil feed and crank till oil comes out, once oils there you are golden.

the stock oil light should go out when you have oil pressure, after around 5 sec cranking with the efi relay unplugged

@Reventon7776 жыл бұрын
Lucky it didn't start if it has oiling issues. Don't know how long you were cranking it over but might have scored the cylinder wall. But then again the motor is moving pretty slow so it might have not built up enough heat to do any damage.

Reverse bleed the oil pump, probably wasnt packed with grease in the oil pump. Pump oil into the port that feeds the turbo on the block. And same with the port on the oil filter housing. Pump wont work if its just got air in it.

Hey Adam. Where did you say that coil pack bracket is from? Thorn industries? Can you link me, please.
@danielquimby91706 жыл бұрын
If you pull your spark plugs, your oil pressure will build much faster. I have an rb26dett, without the plugs you'll see 30 psi. Less stress on the starter also.
@Flashflash19896 жыл бұрын
yep, thats true make it crank a lot faster too. their attempt on cranking sounded weak.
