Australia. hahahaha sorry had to be done lol average 25 over here is anywhere from 500$ for a rebuilder to 1500 for good runners, or just buy a wrecked r33 for 2k and gut it for the driveline, 26s still a fair bit though usually around 5k for a runner, or a rb30e usually 100-500 for atmo one runners good base for a build (many around pumping well over 1000hp with the sohc head) some people put rb 20 25 26 heads on em also lol don't even bother with a rb30et you won't find em or their insanely expensive if u do only major differance is oil squirters in the head which u don't really need these days with modern tuning and all. if u wanna see how how hard we get rbs going just search Australias fastest rbs or vl commodores which are our locally produced car that came with rb30e and rb30et from 1986-1988 we got 1000s of the damn things hahaha.

People run ultra lean tunes, don’t bother doing compression/leakdown tests before running extra boost on a 30 year old unopened engine, shock load the factory oil pump daily and expect the engine to cope. RBs aren’t trash. They just aren’t new. Motive DVD made an unopened 26 last 6 years at 700+ whp and considerable race useage.

We have an RB25 in an s13 with just headstuds, headgasket, 850cc injectors, LS Coils, Holset HY35 turbo, Apexi FC D jetro, runs on 115 fuel. Made 370 at 14psi and is now at 20psi. Conservative tune- not a ton of timing, Beat the hell out of it for the past 4 years no issues. Runs a big dual pass rad, stock oil cooler/ heat exchanger, 10an catchcan setup, Replaced the oil pump a few times as maintenance. Rbs can totally be reliable.

@shona55126 жыл бұрын
ThierryTheuns Most of the drifting Adam will do in the R32 will most likely be on an open skid pad, relatively low speeds and large run offs, it's low risk for "getting your skull bashed in in an accident". That's why it's not a requirement at OSW. Most other tracks on the other hand, have rules against drifting without a cage due to the fact that they're typically higher speeds, higher impacts and higher risk. If Adam is going to a track, I'm sure he'll take his S13 or another car that is caged. The 32 is just a practice car, I doubt it'll go much further than OSW.

If you want the BIGGEST and BADDEST RB oil pump which isn't a dry sump, get the Suprasport billet oil pump with spline drive. It'll cost less than doing something like a Tomei or whatever with billet spline drive gears AND be better and stronger
@automotivejourney75626 жыл бұрын
Whats wrong with the N1 oil pump? Adam mentioned not getting that pump in the video? reason im asking is my brother is rebuilding his RB25 and from the forums a N1 oil pump seems good? thx
@JBPrins6 жыл бұрын
Automotive Journey I run an N1 oil pump on my RB26. Just installed it fresh and new about 2000 km's ago and it's been fine so far running 510 at the wheels. There's reports from people of them failing around the web though which seems to scare people off of them. There's also reports of $1000 Tomei and HKS pumps failing but there's way more of N1 pumps because they're cheaper and therefor used more often. I know of plenty people running N1 pumps here in The Netherlands and having no problems with them. It's just that if you want an indestructible RB, I would go for the billet oil pump aswell. Only reason I didn't is its almost 1000 more than the N1 lol. I would however recommend it in Adam's application since he'll be beating the crap out of it. I know of people running RB's in drift cars in the UK that swap out their N1 oil pumps each year for preventative maintenance and swap over the billet gears lol.
@automotivejourney75626 жыл бұрын
Jb Prins Thanks for the reply, and for my brothers application I think he will be fine he won't need a 1000$ Tomei or HKS pump loll, last question I read on forums with the N1 oil pump to get the nitto extend crank collar as this helps with oil feed and a larger contact with the pump, what's your opinion on this ?
@JBPrins6 жыл бұрын
Automotive Journey yeah imo (and from my experience so far) the N1 pump is fine for street applications but if I were to drift it/race it, giving it high RPM for extended periods of time, I would upgrade. The extended crank collar is only necessary on short nose cranks. I don't know about RB20's and 25's on that subject but the early RB26's in R32 GTR's all had short nose cranks. They changed that to a long nose crank somewhere in 1993 I believe. So atleast all RB26's from R33 and R34's already have the long nose crank which eliminates the need for the extended collar (which is basically a fix for the old short nose cranks)
@artiems6 жыл бұрын
Its not so much the N1 pump as a whole, its the internal gearset. They are still made from cast powdered metal, same as the other OEM pump gears, meaning they are still susceptible to cracking when you beat on them Not saying the housings cant crack aswell, but deff a shit load rarer for that. The standard flat drive on the factory crank has relatively small contact patch on the oil pump gears, adding the collar will extend the contact patch. The bigger the contact patch....the less chance its going to slip and damage something. Im running a built 25det, N1 pump with billet gears from HSE here in perth (only like AU$400) and billet extended flatdrive crankcollar. We have the limiter set at 9k and havent had any issues with the the pump, and it see's excessive high rpm and limiter bashing every time it gets taken out.
@JapaneseMuscleDE6 жыл бұрын
Tomei provides smaller oil galley orifice to retrict flow to the head even more, they are cheap and help a lot. Still you should do the oil return fro the head to make sure. Also i know for the rb26 there are special cam baffle plates that also help with the oil ventilation. I love my RB engines

Maybe one day you will get it together and get something with an na ls so you won’t have these kind of problems with 20 year old boosted Japanese engines

Looks pretty bad on the shop that sold you a car with a bad engine..

Colin Greig it could have been bodged in Japan and flicked. Hard to identify something like this when buying modified used cars

If you’re having the engine bay painted anyway why not get the bonnet painted too, would be much more hassle considering you’d already have the car there and the paint mixed it. Would make the skyline look so much cleaner. Just a thought

Time to move to some bigger LZ, your roast buddy TJ just got a brand spanking new shop with complete sponsored inside ....

TJ is about making money not driving. Everything he does is for sponsors and never to improve himself in driving. Boring af if you ask me.

Kouki_Monster finally someone agrees. He’s got a 700hp Z and he still decides to sit in his shop and build stance cars instead of progress in his driving.

You should twin turbo it, I forget the technical name but do one small turbo and the. A larger turbo for higher end! For what you're gonna use the car it makes perfect sense! Small one for instant boost and larger for the higher end power band to keep it boosting all the time. I'd highly recommend mend it and had great success with my drift RB with that set up. Seriously bro I'd really do it if I were you
@zaksuzuki6 жыл бұрын
You've done it but can't remember the term? It's called compound turbo charging and it's nothing but huge amount of work and issues.
