Here's an idea. Rebuild the engine. Then find a '71-'72-'73 Ford Pinto and electrify THAT. I had more than a few back in the day. Nice handling lil cars!! They got a bad rap over exploding gas tanks when rear-ended. Happened to me 3 times, I'm still breathing!!! Gas tank gone, no fire hazard. That will be IF you can find one, they rusted pretty fast. My favorite was a '71 coupe with a 2-liter and an automatic. After I adjusted the valves and cleaned the carb, I put premium fuel in and she'd squeek the tires on the 1-2 shift!! It came with a new set of Michellin tires on and the handling was really good! Brakes, not so much. DO IT.

From one classic 911 owner to another: Rebuild that engine, dump the phony whale tail, refresh the interior, keep the patina but try and get the paint looking a little better. It wants to live as a 911. You may even consider doing a Speedster style build rather than keep the convertible. That would be unique and would be far better than an EV conversion. Good luck!

I love how both Hoovie and Tavarish don't turn off the engines when someone tells them to. Also, I'm surprised he didn't do a leakdown test on that cylinder to see if it was just a bad valve seal.

Removing the classic flat six cylinder air-cooled from a 911 is like tearing the car's heart out. It's not a Porsche without this engine. Rarely was a car so closely connected to it's type of engine as the classic 911 is. On the other hand, this car is pretty spoilt already anyway with it's conversion into a convertible and the poor paint job. So why not?

A really radical idea if you EV the new Porsche, is to rebuild that engine and put it in your replica. Superior transaxle too, as sure you said the replica uses a VW Beetle box. The Beetle transaxle can be used with the EV conversion, where a wide choice of gears isn't required.

This is a beautiful car! They all smoke like that when they’ve been sitting for a long time. It’ll clear out after driving a while. If you’re rebuilding the engine a transaxle refresh at 180K miles isn’t outrageous either.

I would love to see a conversion done on this, and hopefully Wizard could turn this into several videos on his channel on the process of actually doing it. If at the end of the day the costs are similar maybe that engine can go to some else's 911 effectively saving one rather than just destroying one ;)
