During the invasion of Iraq there were multiple times during engagements both large and small where officers and ncos would run up and down the line yelling to cease fire or conserve ammo because once your adrenaline starts flowing especially if you are taking fire you a lot of times go on auto pilot and your muscle memory takes over until something snaps you out of it. Running on the bridge seeing the borg in front of you and comrades for all you know dead on the ground would put you into a instant adrenaline dump which can cause severe tunnel vision especially if you haven't seen combat before

Miscommunication or wrong decisions will lead to death or worse the death of others. This is why discipline is important in a military or security profession. You can't always act on emotion.

I think when the Queen says we are "Out of time", she meant that literally as the borg are not supposed to be in this reality. I think this entire arc is a timeloop. They will learnt to trust the queen and, stop attacking the Borg and let her complete what she needs to do to restore the continuum and save everyone.

Yup, my point exactly, they pretty much got it right, wary of the Borg, and when the Borg took a moments hesitation to hack the ship without any good reason, they blew up the ship up decisively. And the show will make that a 'bad' thing, not cos of the plot, but cos it'll imply their lack of trust was stupid, instead of logical. Treks defo a 'feels before reals' franchise now.

@@RoballTV Yes, I agree with this. I mean, they hesitated multiple times. It wasn't like they were necessarily "trigger happy". The borg, an intelligent race that knows how to communicate, failed to communicate and took what even the most generous interpretation could be seen as hostile actions. Why is this going to be framed as a bad "you need to learn a lesson" moment? I 'm not happy that it's going to be framed this way and that somehow it's all Picard's fault because "this is all he knows" as Q keeps repeating. The man diffused dozens of tense situations in his stint as captain and I'm sure beyond, but now he's going to be framed as "impulsive" and "warmongering" because of this? Thanks... I hate it.

I think its less of a password and more of a command. His voice activation is enough for the computer to recognise, the zeroes indicating no timer to begin containment shutdown (which is how the self destruct works - it just turns off the force field separating the matter and anti-matter in the warp core) and stating his name as secondary authentication. Plus, you know, a call back to Star Trek II.

After watching many of the previews, I'm thinking that's Q behind the mask saying "Look up" at the last second. That music started magically playing from nowhere. Very Q-like. His way of laughing at their small ape-like minded behavior. He intervenes at the last second as the fleet is destroyed and takes Picard back home to the road not traveled. Very similar to the end of All Good Things after the last Enterprise explodes. He rarely pops in at a good time. He always likes to watch Picard squirm and then pop in when things are at their worst. Usually getting blamed for whatever bad is going on around them, when he's actually trying to help. I have a feeling the end of the journey will bring him back to this scene again so he can rethink an alliance with the Borg to combat a bigger threat before he "runs out of time"

When Nu Trek makes Captains of their own ship ineffective in the face of the main character having to have the spotlight. Since when does a captain just acquiesce to having someone else blow up his ship. Also there were always 2 people that had to concur and one of them had to be whoever had the conn. Otherwise a suicidal admiral could just beam aboard a Federation ship and take the entire ship and crew with him.

we've already seen the queen though and its not 7. I do think she has a game plan though. The queen was obsessed with the workings of datas body, A body picard now possesses. she was also thought to have let seven escape on purpose with voyager and we're yet to find out to what end. The queen doesn't simply LET a stray borg she wants loose. its all part of a bigger plan. maybe the borg queen knew that seven would eventually be the ones who liberate the borg which is why she wanted to keep her so close. Why the "short" phaser bursts?? Wouldn't they be more effective if everyone fired their phasers as long continuous beams (as the phasers in TOS did) all trained at the exact same spot, such as the white glowing area on the Queen's helmet??? The concentrated multiple phaser beams would have a much better chance of breaching her shield!!!

Probably because the phasers are set to randomise modulation in the hopes of overwhelming Borg adaptive shielding. A single continuous beam would likely have a fixed modulation that the Borg would adapt to much more quickly.

@@andromidius She seemed to be adapting pretty well to the short bursts, therefore their only chance would be to overpower the shield using massed phaser fire . Who said that all the phasers had to be set on the same frequency? If a dozen+ different phasers were continuously firing each on its own frequency which frequency would she be adapting to? Adapting to one frequency would probably weaken the shields against other frequencies. Even if she found a single adaptation to work generally against all phasers, it might weaken the phaser's effectiveness but with a sufficiently powerful assault from a large number of phasers even that shield could be over whelmed! The way they were firing certainly wasn't working! Also, concentrating the firing on to one spot was how Picard destroyed the Borg cube in the opening space battle in ST:First Contact!!!

So the Captain orders everyone to stop firing and they keep firing. He doesn't order them to fire on the consoles she is assimilating to stop or at least slow down the process. The auto-destruct command doesn't need 2+ people, including the Captain of the ship to work. Okay I can almost forgive that one, maybe an Admiral has special privilege? The auto-destruct doesn't ask for a time? Okay maybe the time was set with the command authorisation? Still raising a lot of questions here.

She was written horribly in order to artificially create tension. The song allegedly played so that Picard would recognize it as a cue. The twist will be that the Borg queen did not want to harm the ship or crew. She was being benevolent here. Remember she was only stunning those firing on her. She wasn't lying about wanting peace. We will see a return to this scene without the ship's auto destruct and letting the Queen do her thing.

Not Geradi - that's the actress who played his mother doing the 'look up'... why would Geradi say that? why would Geradi play that music? I think the 'writers' changed their mind on how this was going to play out. If the borg had been the version that Geradi was going to make over the 400 years between taking the Sirena and this - would ANY of the Borg interactions TNG, Voyager had have happened the same way? Did the people on the first Federation outpost that was taken by the borg 'Choose' to be Borg? Did Seven's parents choose it? Did Anika? The writers are total garbage... It looks pretty though.
