Same with andor. Tbh if Jeremy Jahns likes it, I likely will too. Best movie critic on utube imo. I think it’s especially safe to say something is good when the film communities on KZbin, I’m thinking of channels like “a closer look” or even less serious stuff like cinema wins/sins are analyzing shows like andor for both how they were good stories and worked within the universe it’s being told in. @goatellbeckham18167 күн бұрын
I don’t understand how you see andor as bland. It was a combination of great writing and acting with great plots and scenery. It gives such a good background story to the rebellion. The only part that felt slow to me was kid cassian. Other than that it Felt more starwars than anything else Disney has put out since rogue one.
@misterFutile7 күн бұрын
@goatellbeckham1816 the story was slow, especially in the beginning and full of some very repetitive writing and uninteresting characters. so much so that the writers literally gave the security character who was hunting Andor THREE recycled scenes of him eating cereal in the kitchen with his mother/aunt, as if they didn't know what to do with his character or arc. There was about 6 episodes worth of quality content that was stretched out to fit a 12 episode order. The series was colorless, void of any real Star Wars visual ties until around episode 5 or 6 when we finally see/hear storm troopers & tie fighters in an era that was supposedly at the height of the empire. The series was severely human-washed, without a single recognizable alien species from previous films to help make the series feel like it's even in the same universe. The series essentially revolves around the least interesting character from rogue one, and Andor's bland, lack of charisma didn't do the series any favors. Remove the "star wars" opening title and rewatch the first 3-4 episodes and the general audience wouldn't even know it's Star Wars. In my opinion, just because its intended to be a more "mature" story people act like that means it was a good story but it wasn't. A few well written lines, and a couple decent new characters was all the series has of value. It has absolutely no re-watch value.

The idea that some Jedi youngling or Padawan turned to pirating for survival after order 66 is actually pretty interesting to me. Maybe he was taken under the wing while still a kid by some pirate captain. Perhaps saved from some stormtroopers or something and just fell into it and figured it was a perfect cover to hide his origins and avoid the Empire since pirates were already practiced at avoiding government. Plus who's gonna suspect a Jedi would hide amongst pirates? Eventually he just fully conforms to it, yet still retains some of the basic skills and ends up Captain til the mutiny happens. He stays in the prison because he's got little hope of getting anywhere, until he learns of these easily exploited kids with their own starship and a way off the rock.
@SpiderboyN2Jesus4 күн бұрын
Yeah, I think Rebels was going to be pretty much that at one point. I have an image I found of the youngling characters from Clone Wars (you know the episode where they found their lightsaber crystals in the ice caves of Illum) as pirates. It's clearly some kind of promotional character layout with the Rebels logo on it. I've wanted a show about that ever since I saw the image. The idea clearly being a show about those younglings becoming their own pirate crew to hide from the Empire after Order 66.

I'm glad people are pointing this out. These are the types of weirdos who have destroyed fandoms. They have no interest at all in the product and just invent insane narratives to justify hating something because they literally want everything to fail. It's sad that there's people out there like this infecting fandoms, but a bigger issue is that there's a lot of people who have built channels by pandering and encouraging these weirdos because they're making a lot of money from it. Sadly Theory has gone down the path of encouraging these non fans to his content so now rather than calling out comments like this as absolute nonsense he treads lightly because he knows that they're now a part of his audience that he doesn't want to lose. As fans there's things we like and things we don't like, that's normal but people who try and inject some bizarre identity politics narrative when there isn't one to justify hating something that they've most probably not even seen aren't fans.

idc what anyone says, Im gonna give Disney a big fat W on this right now. Disney doing what they do best. Nostalgic childhood remedies, dreams, and lives most of us have gone through. This is something we need. Star Wars wasn't always a serious story. It was always lighthearted and filled with joy. Star Wars was meant to give hope by telling a SIMPLE story and ultimately be FUN. I hope this momentum continues :)

7:27 - Regarding the maturity of children, yes, I agree. I don't have children, but I am a judo coach, and teach judo to children, teenagers and adults. What I find most of the time, is that female students (children and teenagers) tend to more mature and usually better behaved than the boys. It doesn't mean the boys are always misbehaving and/or have no discipline, but from my observation and experience, young boys are more likely to be a bit more immature and silly than young girls. To put it into perspective... boys are more likely to agree with one another that "Hey, running head first into this wall sounds like a GREAT idea" than girls, ha ha.

I know there was a lot of trepidation around having Earth suburbs in Star Wars but it was actually quite refreshing (for me anyway) to have normal everyday life shown as opposed to either the super rich of Coruscant or the downtrodden and oppressed under the thumb of the Empire. Kids going to school, the contrast between a stereotypical nuclear family vs a single parent family. I feel like Neel is a good representation of what I was like when I was younger. Even watching them to have a pretend lightsaber fight, how many of us did the same thing with our friends when we were kids? All in all this is so far much better than the Acolyte.

If it keeps this up… Tier 1: Skeleton Crew and Andor. Please Disney make the new Jedi movies this quality Tier 2: Mando Season 1-2, Rogue One Tier 3: Force Awakens, Ahsoka, Solo Tier 4: All other Disney live action Star Wars Tier 3-4 and below are unacceptable going forward. This proves they can make Tier 1 multiple times and it’s not just cause of Gilroy. I hope they figure out why Andor and Skeleton Crew are Tier 1 cause I’m not sure since I don’t have all the details of what has happened behind the scenes. I suspect it’s cause they’ve prioritized elite filmmakers and getting out of their way. And prioritized making a great story first.

The New Hope originally named just Star Wars is without family drama, is just whiny teenager Luke wanting to escape his boring life into some adventure. At that time Leia wasn't his sister, Vader wasn't his father, these all were added and recontextualized later. The Skeleton Crew is really just modern version of Star Wars, New Hope.

Yes, I like Skeleton Crew. I have always said, Star Wars is a (was a) fun adventure story that kids relate to. Today, those kids are us. But also the story wonderfully includes those who were creating playful adventures with mystery and pirates before Star Wars existed. I relating to the kids bikes, riding rough and crashing bad down a hill landing hard with mysterious surroundings of debris and a forbidden past no one talks about. Been there done that. Lets hope it stays the course. This is what we need.

I don’t want to be negative, but I was not impressed as I skimmed through the show. It doesn’t have the Star Wars universe feel. The planet also felt like a futuristic earth. Not a show for me unfortunately, but more power to you all if you enjoyed it 🙂 At the end of the day we enjoy Star Wars for various reasons
