Great demonstration of how Lethal can really rough up the unprepared. I had mostly been playing on green to dread for some "zombie apocalypse power fantasy" gaming before getting into lethal zone, and it's honestly like a completely different game. A tip for people wanting to get into this game, especially on nightmare and lethal: don't... ...play like the streamers you see on YT or twitch. They are often playing aggressively to entertain their audiences. You can totally avoid awakening plague hearts and getting sieges if you are careful, utilise sneaking, crossbows (often found at camp sites, hint-hint) and executions a lot, scout ahead using vantage spots and constantly look around you to avoid surprises. This doesn't mean you can ALWAYS with 100% certainty avoid nasty surprises, but it lowers the risk drastically. And not having to deal with sieges is a giant load off your back. Also, try having a computer expert and turning a cell tower into an outpost. For a bunch of parts, you can send out a signal that surpresses plague hearts and keeps them dormant for longer (though not infinitely), and computer skills lower the costs and prolong the effect drastically. Also. try not to let your community members accumulate standing too fast, because that's the main driver for map difficulty. This is a double edged sword, since of course you will want that influence from missions etc., but try to resist the urge. You can get influence from selling stuff as well.

A little tip: You can open doors in front of Ferals to stun them, allowing you to kill them easily.

Also crouching regains stamina 2x as fast and you if you tap Y at the exact moment you can push zombies or grappled ferals on ur car so they won’t pull you out :)

Lethal zone is definitely hard, but it's not as hard if you play more carefully. Players don't have to play like how streamers tend to play, aggressively to entertain their audience. It's more recommended to play nightmare and lethal zone using stealth, sneaking around quietly unless you think you can afford to play aggressively.

Thanks for covering our SOD2 community Family awesome gift of an game from one of greatest dev teams around Undead Labs. Let me point out the one underlying key aspect to SOD........survival by any means.... the last person of a community wipe bugging out and running away from the slaughtering to later return and build from the ashes is one of the greatest achievements that deep SOD2 players can attest to☯️✌🏾

Props to you for playing lethal mode with brand new community and characters. I love this game and play it tons. But i play lethal mode with a community i had built up. Even with a well stocked locker filled with ammo, medicine and food...i lose characters and run empty on the strongest ammo and food gets depleted fast. But i keep coming back for more haha. I really hope SOD3 is going to be a huge WOW factor.

I took some legacy characters into a new lethal game, and lost 2 due to over confidence; im absolutely hooked on the difficulty of lethal and how it punishes "pushing your luck". Great video!

Worst part about Lethal is the start if you can get thru the start of the game you're pretty much good. Also getting the sniper tower radio ability is a must.

I just moved my car away from enclave. A jug came. He slammed my enclave. My car was a few buildings down. So was I. My car set on fire. I got blood plague. I have no samples. I just gave it to the enclave. I just started this world. Time to restart.😊

I understand the challenge, I had two nightmare runs, 2 dread runs, and I’ve had a handful in standard before the difficulty’s were added! I have to say I get some of the challenges and satisfaction of running those difficulty’s but IMO I think Dread was about the perfect lv, it was a lil harder then standard and still had potential for loot and growth, it just felt like the right tier to me. Nightmare was more over excessively difficult then it needed to be, A lot of cheese shit gets u killed and for what cause 1 zombie saw u strolling through the woods, kinda dumb imo. I get it tho I’ve been there with most of the games I’ve played, I just feel like Dread was more of the perfect tier at least for me, I enjoy some challenges but I want to have fun and toy around some too without it being a Permanent Death 💀 Sentence!! Love the vid tho GG!

It's easier if you work your way up to Lethal lol. I went from Green zone to Lethal Zone and after losing my whole Lethal community a few times in the beginning I learned how to navigate it. Those dang ferals are a PITA !!!

I completed Nightmare a few years ago before Lethal was added and loved it. Tempted to return but diving straight into Lethal is probably beyond me as I’ve forgotten all the controls 😄

Dude. Crouch stealth is a better option than running around. Leave your weapons at home or give it to a survivor when searching. You can hit zombies while backing up in a vehicle it won't take damage.

First, make a community in standard zone to build up resources and get skills maxed out on your characters, THEN play lethal zone with them. Have a Raider's AR with professional/advanced muzzle break for lots of quick damage, get an armory so you can build up lots of different ammo and make grenades. Also, make plenty of plague cure and med kits. Try to get a character with backpacking, resourcefulness, and +100 resistance to plague infection. Load them up with that Raider's AR with advanced muzzle break (noisy, but powerful), 6 grenades, 6 fuel bombs, 3 plague cures, and have extra grenades, fuel bombs, med kits, and advanced toolkits in your vehicle. I'd recommend a Burninator truck if you can get one. Attack plague hearts solo in lethal zone. Your other characters will get harmed/killed when you use grenades and fuel bombs. Also, for the first playthrough, choose Prividence Hills so you can get the fire station, or get a base with a large slot and build a solar power plant.

thats where the fun all starts i played this straight on dread and didnt enjoy it bcoz it didnt feel like ur surviving no hardships and then after i tried lethal mode i never tried any lower difficulties anymore. the satisfaction after you overcome the stress of your survivors and built up high morale. bcoz on the other difficulties morale doesnt matter unlike lethal zone morale really matters or your people will start to fight or leave.

lethal is pretty easy once you know how to play the game, the challenge is starting a new game on lethal, not sending maxed out and decked out survivors over. However it still isn't the hardest. To make it painuflly hard, you need mods, three made by hellfire one i dont remember by who. But basicall Hellfire mods: 12x time more spawn for zombies, 5x more plague zombies, 4x more hordes, what it does is make you base surrounded by 5-7 hordes on first day 32 zombies each 3x more freaks so for example packs of 3 ferals turn into 9 ferals. and so on 125 plague hearts on every difficulty The last i believe mod: Turn all Plague Hearts into Black Hearts What is the difference? From what i know Plague Hearts have 120HP Black hearts have around 2000HP

Yep, if you know what you are doing, lethal is very manageable, it's just slow going, everything grinds to a slog in lethal, that's my main issue with it... Playing becomes a chore.

Best way to play lethal is max ur survivors in low difficulty and once u stacked up move it to lethal, still wont be easy though the amount of food they eat is insane in lethal i find that annoying

Best way to play lethal is play how ever you want. It's a single player, there is no wrong way to play it. If you want to do it like you said, do it. If you want to start with all characters with no 5th skills and maxed negative curve balls, do it too, and if you want to play with mods to make it easier or harder, it's also okay to do it. The best way to play is the way you enjoy the most (at least on single player games)

Try lethal with curve balls only negatives and super stronger. It's waay more brutal but super fun, strongly recommend you. It's a whole new difficulty for you to tame lol

I watched your whole video. I was confused when i saw you had those medical kits that heal you fully in your locker......why didn't you use that on your first character before he died? And always take the screamers out first and asap....as they attract lots of more zombies and ferals. Good news though...you can always start over haha

I played lethal wayyyy down the road.. started off in the green zone and made my way to nightmare.. played nightmare for a hot minute to lost some good ass people and bases as well as loot. Now only thing I played is lethal lmao it’s fun to me and all other modes get boring ngl even nightmare haha

I mean, you can goof around a bit, but yeah, if you aren't careful you'll find out why it's called "Lethal" pretty soon. Also, don't hesitate on exploiting the game in that difficulty, you truly need everything at your disposal to survive some of the bs the game can throw at you. REALLY IMPORTANT: do not get standing quickly, I know that some of those "hero perks" are great, but standing points are what makes the dificultty progress the more you earn the more difficult that save becomes. (you get standing from freak eliminations, completed missions and cleared infestations)

It all depends on what you consider fun. For me state of decay was about starting off easy and then getting progressively harder as you stretch yourself to get that one extra bag or clear one extra infection site. Meanwhile lethal is all about that crisis state all the time. Anyway, I played the game since early access and it evolved a lot. Good for Undead Labs.

My personal opinion. Play in green zone to create your legacy community with guns, ammo and max skills. Then start lethal from starting zone or with another community already created from your legacy pool. I played from green to nightmare difficulty with my legacy characters, never lost one character. I know lethal is far worse, but it might work to keep your people alive.
