I agree - I find the kitchens of manor houses and castles much more interesting than the living spaces upstairs. (That flower bouquet is amazing!)

Thanks Madeleine and Alex for taking us along with you on this very cool staycation! It was so relaxing to see the woods and gardens, and little paths... it felt great really. So thank you. I can't wait to see the garage!

Oh my goodness, I’m a huge fan of kitchens from yesteryear, thank you for filming this one. When I was there I literally filmed everything in it. The house and grounds are incredibly beautiful. Love your vlog too and love your content.

I'm catching up on your videos after getting back from my first visit to England and now I want to go back and get to Cornwall!! I really enjoyed seeing Lanhydrock in this one :) The bit at the end all about the garage conversion is so exciting, and just seeing how close you are to finishing and having such a lovely space to enjoy makes me so happy! I can't wait to see the finished thing :D

Thanks for all the tips Madeleine. We have rented a cottage between Bodmin and Padstow next month, and although I used to come to Cornwall as a child it was a long time ago! Its nice to remember all these places aren't too far away. Thankyou for a great vlog!

This was such a trip down memory lane, thank you Madeleine! I'm from Germany but when I was 15/16, I stayed in Bodmin for a year as an exchange student. I haven't been back in 4/5 years, so seeing all of these places again was amazing. So funny you grew up in Bodmin, I never would have guessed!! Usually when I tell people about it no one seems to know where it is 😅

Stunning vlog! The jail hotel so facinating and cool. Pride and Prejudice feel as you walked around the gardens. Hope you and Alex are doing ok :) cannot wait to see your garage transformation, it is so much brighter. You can do so much in that room, lovely space for entertainment area, gym or even a office space. Just the idea of lying down on the sofa with popcorn in hand and the projector on is bliss ^^

Every year we visit liskeard on holiday in December as myself and my parents got married there (from South Wales) As a child we always visited Bodmin jail when it was a museum and it was scary but brilliant! Love what they have done to it now and would love to visit but the cost is super expensive!

Thankfully Madeleine & Alex wasn't in Jail for being naughty😆 A fantastic staycation vlog and great to appreciate what we already have in the UK because not everyone can afford to have a holiday outside of the UK due to the increasing living costs crisis. Brilliant video ❤️ The garage looks amazing, it would be a great room for yoga 🧘♀️ I'm tempted to book a night in Bodmin Jail, but not telling my husband where we're staying until we get there. He loves surprise holiday destinations. We're on a narrow boat next month, an 80's weekend in September, so this would be totally different ... and VERY surprising. 😃🤣

Love this vlog 🥰 Brings back so many memories! Me and my other half stayed in Bodmin about 6 years ago in a converted cattle shed and we visited lanhydrock house, the eden project, falmouth, fowey, Charlestown, Newquay! It was a great week away 🥰 We did of course go into Bodmin and yes it was a little unexpected but they had good cornish pasties 😁 When we went to Lanhydrock a man was playing the piano and did the pirate of the Caribbean theme! It was amazing 🙌🙌

I’m visiting St Ives for a day trip (going on the train) in a couple of weeks time and I’d love to know any recommendations you have! I’m going to Tate and the Barbra Hepworth sculpture garden of course, not sure yet about food though - somewhere for lunch and places for ice cream/cake.

Cornish Native. The garage looks so light and bright! The Alliums self seed easily and have spread right down the street. If you have the desire build the sofa and put light mattresses for singles and an angled cushion behind, its so comfy , but you will had've to shelter them.
