I've learned a lot about navigating the seasons of motherhood in the 13 years since I first became a mother. Today we're chatting about some common challenges in homemaking, especially at the end of pregnancy, and some simple mindset shifts to make this season enjoyable!

When my eldest was only about a month old, my mother-in-law came to visit us after work. (She was an RN) She found us both laying on the couch crying. Yeah, both of us were crying. I was overwhelmed. My mom was out of town, half the state away... My m-i-l set her keys on the coffee table, grabbed the baby, handed me her keys & a $20 bill & told me to "go somewhere & don't come back until you felt better"... Bless her! I left & stayed away for about 90 minutes. I had sat in the car & cried for about 30 minutes then went to a department store & bought an outfit for the baby. I got a lot of weird looks because my eyes were red & swollen. But when I went back home, I felt much better! My m-i-l told me that I should have spent the money on myself. I grinned & showed her a fountain drink that I had gotten. She rolled her eyes & gave me a hug. My child was asleep. She told me that colic was the problem & gave me some tips on how to deal with it. She was there for us, exactly when we both needed her!

Bless you and your mother in law! Motherhood is not easy, and believe me, she's been there. She gets it! I'm also thankful that you allowed her to help you, and you showed your gratefulness to her and posted on here for other new moms to see. Not every new mom is willing to allow her MIL to help, but I'm so glad you did. I bet that made her day!!!! (and yours!) I know it would've made mine! ~from a devoted mom and MIL ❤

@MoonFlower52798 Yes! I was so overwhelmed & felt that I had no one to turn to. I didn't know why I couldn't get my child to feel better. My m-i-l was like an angel. She just randomly stopped by to check on us. She knew what to do that was best for both of us! She passed away last year at the venerable age of 93, after a long life, well lived in service to others. All the people whose lives she touched miss her so much. Both she & my mom were the guiding light in my life.

@j.l.emerson592 What a beautiful testimony to your MIL and mom! My very own MIL has been that same person for me, and I couldn't be more blessed. She is now in her late 70s, and I shudder to think of one day losing her. She's still such a solid helper to anyone who needs her and still gets around very well. How did we win the MIL jackpot, I'll never know, but I'm sure glad we did!!!

I remember as a child being asked so many times what I wanted to be when I grew up. I'd always say a mom and people would always roll their eyes or give me a patronizing smile then insist "OK, but what do you want to BE! What ELSE?" I could never understand why that wasn't enough!

Thank you for saying the part about being a stay at home mom and working and being a stay at home mom being 2 full time jobs, it really meant a lot to me. I always just wanted to be a wife and mom, but was told by everyone that that is not a career. My husband feels that same way and pressured me into going to college since I didn't want a job. The longer I go to college, the more I realize that I don't want to be preparing for a career. My career and heart are at home, with my family. I teach my children that being a homemaker is a career, and an important one. I think the world would be a better place if more women were able to be devoted homemakers. I know I would be soo much happier.

YES! I relate to your message so strongly. I grew up with the same misunderstanding towards homemaking. After completeing graduate school and working my way up the corporate ladder, I realized at 29 that I had been completely fooled. Luckily, I married my sweet husband in my early twenties, and we both agreed to reprioritize our lifestyle. I quit my corporate job, went back to the Catholic faith, became a full time homemaker, and we are now expecting our first baby this Spring. I am so thankful the Lord opened my eyes to the beauty of homemaking and motherhood. I too am planning a home birth and appreciate you sharing your insight! 🤍

This speaks to me on so many levels just in a season where I'm learning to embrace the blessing of homemaking. Unlearning all that messaging is so real. I find myself having internal battles and moments of deep gratitude when I realize what a blessing it is to be with my children and get to see them grow every day. Wishing you a safe delivery 🙏🏾

Oh, honey! I just loved this video so much and the message you brought to each one of us. ❤ I turned it on and listened while I was washing dishes at midnight and making my hubby's lunch for tomorrow, and not particularly in a great mood about it, but you helped me so much to realize that I don't "have" to wash dishes or "have" to make his lunch, I'm blessed to GET to do it! ❤ I've had such a mental block here lately with getting my bedroom and guest room in order, and so here recently, I've just turned a blind eye to it and went thrifting..or visited a friend or went shopping, anything to not have to look at it lol But, it's still there when I come home....lol SO, with a new fresh mindset, I will tackle one of those rooms tomorrow! Thanks to you!! ❤❤

This is the one of the best KZbin videos I have ever seen. You have touched my heart because I was a stay-at-home before it was cool and I was NOT proud of it. You are so right about the comments and “unintelligent, lazy” labels. If I would have seen this video, or known someone who spoke these same words to me in the 80’s when I had my children - it would have meant the world to me. You are so real, so peaceful and so wise about the calling to be a homemaker!! You have given me a rare gift … you have made me feel really good about myself and the choices I have made along the way. I will keep you in my prayers over these next few weeks welcoming your little one into your family! God Bless you❤

I am also a former nurse now turned wife/homemaker and I can say with confidence that being a stay at home wife/mama/homemaker is a harder job than nursing and those 12 hour shifts! BUT like you said, it is an absolute blessing and I would rather be at home taking care of my own family and raising my own children. I really appreciated your honest talk about your earlier years and resenting it, the Lord has been changing my heart and the way I view things and not to see it as a task that ever ends. Grateful He lead me to your channel, God bless you and your growing family ❤️

This the best video. Just to hear you talk about our roles as women and taking that blessing seriously. You just don't hear women now days as young as you are realizing what a blessing it really is. Homemaking and being a Mother. The bible says that it is a high calling. I am 66 years old with all my children and grandchildren grown. I still view this season of my life as important as a homemaker as it was in my younger days. Your such a blessing and feel confident that you will hear Proverbs 31: 28-29 Her children arise up and call her blessed; Her husband also. Be Blessed

I love that you acknowledged that when you farm deep cleaning the home isn’t likely to happen during the warmer months. I stepped out of my comfort zone to try and get know some other women. One of which who looked absolutely horrified that deep cleaning my home on a regular basis is not high on my chore list. Thus is the life of a farming, homeschooling, Mother & wife. I wish women could be supportive and nonjudgmental towards each other’s lifestyles. So awesome that you’re getting a day to get things done! Prayers for a safe and swift delivery. 🙏❤️ Also for a calm and positive postpartum recovery.

I'm pretty sure I work harder now then I did at my 40 hr week job. I find cleaning my house, cooking for my family and raising my children so rewarding. So glad I don't have to pay others to do what God has called me to do. It can be a struggle sometimes financially but we make it work because we know in the long run it is better for everyone.

This video was just what I needed as I wait for my second baby. Your thoughts around birth and motherhood are so encouraging. I grew up around really "witchy" women who were very positive about birth but without a Biblical perspective, they struggled as mothers and homemakers. I have been really intentional as a mom to listen to women who have their moral foundation in scripture and its made a world of difference in my marriage and motherhood journey. I find your perspective really refreshing and I am a big fan of your recipes. I just prepped a huge batch of sourdough granola for postpartum and it came out so great. Thanks for the content and best of luck with baby!

Hi, I really loved this video for so many reasons! You are a wonderful example of what a biblical wife and stay at home mom looks like. You are completely right about what the bible says about a keeper of the home etc and motherhood, and you are also right about its not acceptable and encouraged by American society. Thank you so much for making this video it encouraged me and I watched it with my 8 year old daughter so she can see other examples of what a godly wife and mother should be like! I did try being a working mom/wife and it is not for the faint of heart. When I was pregnant with my youngest my husband and I decided I would leave the workforce and focus on raising our kids, 2 years after that we decided we would pull the older kids out of public school and begin our homeschooling journey! People who still believe SAHM and Homeschool Parents do nothing all day crack me up! I struggle to find little pockets of free time in my day😂

So I am a mom of 3, but I wanted to say, I had a very severe c section infection after my twins were born almost 15 years ago, the doctor wasn't wearing gloves and took out my staples, I ended up in the hospital for months with Necroficitiatis, and the hospital did not bill me a dime for the months long stay, due to internal hospital neglect and me not suing. Anyway I was not able to have more kids after that, I am now a full time elder care nurse and part time special Education instructor, my twins are almost 18 in a few years, and I too dream of being a stay at home wife, not even sure how, no kids anymore, just being home and gardening, fishing, all the things. Just keep manifesting for yourself and do what you love. Sending many blessings to your family.

Oh my goodness I am so sorry you went through that!! Sadly, working in the hospital, I saw many such cases of poor hand hygiene 😔

Enjoyed your video today especially about the woman's cycle being linked to the cycle of the moon. God gave us the picture of the Messiah and his virgin birth in the constellations... The sun, moon and stars are for us to mark the times and seasons of life as well. Great eye opening message today for young and older women and mothers Pertaining To The Calling Of Matrimony and Motherhood. Being a wife and mother is a more than full-time job ... It is a labor of love and such a blessing and gift from God. I wish that I had known these things when I was younger. I struggled many years inwardly... Striving even... Because I simply couldn't do a career outside the home and still care for my children and home. In the end I have I chose raising my children myself rather than working outside the home to the point of exhaustion and someone else having to raise my children. There wasn't a lot of money but I was home when my children needed me to be. I feel that being a wife, mother and homemaker are the greatest blessings God bestowed upon woman... Not that Women Aren't Capable Of, Wonderful At, And Called of God At Times For Doing Many Other Jobs Even Outside The Home. I love you sister... Hoping and Praying that your delivery goes well for both you and baby. ❤❤❤

Oh man the rest thing lol so im terrible at rest. And i also do the martyr thing which i hate doing but it happens im working on that. But i have sprained my back i know its a lesson in patience and resting and i hate it! I know its self imposed guilt and no one else cares if my house is clean. But it is so hard so this is a timely video to say the least lol thank you. Hope baby gets here soon and safely and you're doing well.

I always love watching your videos...I live in Italy but originally ftom the UK. Scones are a famous Cornish / Devonshire cake/biscuit normally seeved with strawberry jam and clotted cream, you can also have cheese scones. I have been eating dates tonight to break my fast. A lot of what you talk about religion wise is very similar to the Qu'ran..no back biting or talking badly of people, being kind to others and charitable. I am reading the Qu'ran for the 1st time and have just finished the chapter on Moses on Mount Sinai and the golden calf. I hope you have a safe delivery of little one.

Oh lovely lady, working hard for your beautiful family. Cannot wait to see that baby and I bet all your viewers feel the same ❤ Loved your talking about sometimes struggling and not asking for help, I too was like that. Your cooking is amazing and those scones looked delicious. In UK we have them either plain but a bit sugary or fruit scones with raisins, sultanas or cheese scones with grated cheese in the mixture. I'm from Northern UK, so traditionally we eat them as a sweet treat say with a cup of tea😊 Afternoon cream teas are served in cafes with scones part of the menu 😊 Sending love to you and your family ❤

Oh and that Apple pie looked amazing 🤗 You, telling your husband off and that he had to wait 😅 I love the way you make your chicken and veg soup as well and with the dumplings 😊 In UK, well in Yorkshire we would call that stew. If we did not have dumplings with it, we often have Yorkshire puddings. They are a batter mixture of flour, eggs and some milk and water beaten together and cooked in the oven until mixture browns and rises. Your Dutch baby batter recipe looks much similar 😊 Anyways, lots of love Steff, and thank you for your awesome channel ❤

Hi Steph, in Australia we have sweet scones, usually plain with Jam & cream, pumpkin ones are amazing with butter & golden syrup, it’s totally foreign to me to have biscuits & gravy but if I ever get to the USA I’ll give them a try. ❤prayers for a safe and happy delivery of the new baby.
