The plaintiff rented two storage units at the defendant’s facility and says $5,000 worth of belongings were stolen. The plaintiff claims security footage shows the defendant going into the unit, so the plaintiff is suing for the cost of the missing items. The defendant argues she thought the belongings were abandoned junk, so she donated the items. The defendant is countersuing for stolen sneakers, as well as pain and suffering.

The defendant is definitely a thief. If she noticed a storage space is missing a lock, the normal response is to put on a temporary lock and then notify the owner. You don't load up your car and take stuff home. It's why she was fired.

I’m not sure why she had her unit so long. I felt like 2 years was too damn long lol. But it’s not uncommon for people to have expensive things in storage. The plaintiff was negligent for not locking her unit, she may be a little ghetto, but she has to have some kind of sense😂 Pretty sure the defendant & fiance are on drugs, which is why they're stealing😬 sounds like the plaintiff just wrote a list of things she wants, not owns😂😂 "I was moving" = "I was evicted" here

I own a small storage facility in WNY. There isn't any electric on the lot so it is "at your own risk". Never had any issues with items being stolen but one tenant didn't pay for 5 months, ignored all my calls, texts & letters. I auctioned off the unit and literally the next day she tried to pay me and asks me to remove my lock so she can get her stuff out. She threaten to sue me for removing her belongings. Lease was crystal clear. After 3 months of non payment I have the right to auction the unit. The unit was full of junk! Most of it went into the trash.

I worked at storage place for about 4 months. If someone broke in and stole stuff from a unlock storage, then it would be the customers fault. But as an employee, if we saw an unlock storage, we had to place a temporary lock on storage and notify the customer. We can't just simply walk in and take stuff. I am sure the place she worked at had a similar process, that's why they did lock check twice a day. Also, any property left outside the storage, we had to place it in a designated area and notify the customer and give them 2 weeks to reclaim it. If they failed, we would dispose of it ourself with the company that we contracted and charge the customer a fee. We could not take items home or "donate" them because it could lead to tons of legal issue. Also, all item disposed, we kept the paperwork on file for 5 years and also send the customer a copy of the item that was disposed including pictures.

Doug said The door is that way 😂 So many holes in both their stories. Defendant: 1. No video of property abandoned outside the unit 2. No receipt of purchase of Nike shoes for her fiancé 3. If property was abandoned why was she fired 4. Why didn’t she sue her former employer for wrongful termination Plaintiff 1. No police report listing the designer items 2. Why didn’t she have renters or homeowners insurance for such expensive items 3. No pictures of her wearing designer items. Who has items that flashy and doesn’t wear or show them off. 4. Judge should’ve asked what kind of purse she had with her today. I doubt she’d go from Louis V to Sonoma if she really had it like that lol 😂. 5. I’m not judging, but I wonder if Judge thought her horrible grasp of basic English was an indication of lack of affluence?
