This tutorial (Vive edition) was the very first thing I saw in VR, and I had a grin plastered on my face from start to finish :) I wish I could recapture the joy from my first VR session, jumping from one game to the next. I stayed strapped in for three hours straight and only stopped cause I was paying by the hour!

My Valve controllers only work for 10 minutes. Then, I need to restart my pc for another 10 minutes of VR. The system has been working perfect for a year, this started two months ago. Steam told me to find someone local to maybe fix it. Geek Squad is a pack of morons. Valve NEVER responded. I will PAY YOU if you can fix it.

Well, considering I already own the htc vive, I'll probably very slowly upgrade to the valve index. I read that each component of the vive is compatible with valve index's gear. So I can use the controllers with a vive headset and base stations, I can use the valve index headset with vive controllers and base stations, and so on. I'll probably just start with the controllers as I really want the ability to use my fingers and stuff. I'm really excited for it! Only question is, what will I do with my vive once I've got the full valve index kit?

@@PcGameGold I would've ordered the headset, but I don't have that kind of money rn, I really just want to be able to use my fingers tbh (Although I read on steam about it and apparently it's got a bigger field of vision, and also 120hz refresh rate, and all that so. I'll wait for the headset itself to come out and see what people think before I get it. I prolly won't upgrade to their base stations unless absolutely necessary but yea dude. It looks hella nice, don't forget about me, lemme know what you think about it when you get it. I'd love to hear what you have to say!

@@MrSanfrinsisco Being able to read text is my main issue, getting rid of screen door is my main thing, Pimax was £999 which is way to much for a few games to play on, I will get controllers at a later date when more games feature them. plus the headphone solution looks great, as I hate earbuds, and normal headphones add to much weight.

A lot of people have prototype controllers. He probably doesn't have the headset or final controller builds.

He has a pair of Knuckles DV units. Same as the final, but no Index logos on the controllers themselves. In SteamVR, they use the Knuckles 1.0 models and textures with the Index logos on.

Google cardboard probably the cheapest vr currently(5-20 bucks depending on your headset+ your phone). Imo more suited for videos/ experiences rather than games though

You need either 1.0 or 2.0.

@@jepkek because it is technically gen 2 hardware. But gen 2 hardware is compatible with gen 1 hardware. The only incompatibility is the htc vive is not compatible with 2.0 lighthouses. I'm guessing there is no mention of 1.0 on the box since they dont sell 1.0 lighthouses anymore. But I promise you, knuckles work with 1.0 lighthouses. I used knuckles before 2.0 fully came out

The headset is a very substantial upgrade but it isn't completely necessary if you have a Vive. The knuckles are the more gen 2 device in my opinion

No he didn't. The valve index kit isn't out (besides pre-orders) till june. He got knuckles for free and is using the vive. When he actually buys the index he will only pay either 750$ for the index and steam vr 2.0 base stations or 500$ for just the index if he already has the 2.0 base stations for the vive pro.

Well if everyone thought like that we would all be still playing SNES games and watching movies on VHS. And Valve said they're making a major IP game for it. Whether or not it turns out to be HL 2.9, Portal 2.9 or Artifact VR or some kind of DOTA 2 first-person mode we'll find out soon enough.

@Hannah Havac There are a few games and mods that have portal vr, nothing is official, but its still portal, I have really good vr legs in the sense that i can power through almost all motion sickness because it doesn't really effect me anymore. But while playing portal stories vr, it really wasn't a good time. It could be done, but the game has to be made from the ground up and alot of the physics involved would have to apply to other objects rather than yourself for it to be playable by anyone which would change the way the game does its puzzles and what makes portal portal. Making a game with portals is easy, making it fun and hopefully entirely unnauseating while using said portals is kinda hard. Not entirely but it wouldn't be the same game. It would be more kinda antichamber.
