All these steelhead vids are put together in Ontario. Would like to see some more from the island and the coast. A lot nicer out there.

Not to be that guy, but if it's not Sea run it's not a steelhead, just a big rainbow trout....great video thanks for the epic content

Lots of opinions on this and even biologists do not agree about the difference
@osamabinfaqn67264 жыл бұрын
Paulmer Elrich exactly. Huge difference. Legit steelhead have an amazing journey. Great Lakes lake run rainbows are just trout. If you call them steelhead, you have to call landlocked Columbia basin red bands steelhead too.

@@osamabinfaqn6726 No there is not much difference, Just physical fitness. A steelhead is not a separate creature its just a nickname to a bow thats migrated. They can and do create resident fish. Many of the fish in our waters started from the exact genes as sea run fish. The are this creature biologically.The difference is the migration into a sea which provides better fitness due to serious predators. I don't know how much you know about the great lakes but there a massive place. Almost the size of the Caspian Sea, They have there own tides . great lakes bows can travel big distances especially compared to some other 'sea' run salmonides. They put on the steel like camo and gain massive weight up to 30 pounds. A overstatement to call them the real thing but acting like there a normal bow doesn't feel right. Nobody in the GL thinks our fish is comparable to sea fish. that matured in there native environment and lived with seals,sharks,etc physically

@@MichaelPhillips-jw4bj exactly. Salt, or fresh water, makes no difference. Our biologists agree. Just because west coast people are salty, doesn't make it so. Rainbows = river resident. Steelhead = anadromous. That's why they are called Great Lakes steelhead. Some of them, make incredible journeys to spawn. Don't like it? Too bad.
