Pete Postlethwaite, God rest his soul, was an amazing actor. The way he recanted a story of exerting his dominance over an underling while calmly grinning and stripping roses was distilled villainy. I love how when he said, “if there’s a heaven son, she ain’t in it”, he broke the rose’s stem. Pure evil.

The Florist has all the power in the scene, and that's directly displayed through him performing his everyday, mundane job while spitting some of the cruelest psychological manipulation imaginable. The same thing goes for when a character is eating food, or enjoying a nice, cool beverage. Think scenes like Col. Hans Landa drinking the French farmer's milk (Inglorious Basterds), The Hound quaffing down Polliver's ale (Game of Thrones S04E01), Don Corleone stroking the cat (The Godfather), the list goes on.

Pete Postlethwaites acting is superb. His northern, rough Irish accent is fantastic and I'm surprised he does it so well and yet allows the audience to still understand what he's saying, I guess its the same one he did in the film "In the Name of the Father" along with Daniel Day Lewis, a Belfast accent. He really does sound like the rough guys around Belfast. He even looks/sounds like a genuine Old Irish gangster type guy. I know, I'm Irish.

Jonathan Po It's not limited to the over pronounced Irish accent in acting but also Boston. Some overdo it but by purpose. Acting is meant to deliver feeling more than accuracy at times. The more the spice and flavor the deeper the impression and longer lasting one at that. Pete convinces us of his dreaded sinister personification of evil. His job was to make us love to hate him, to fear him, and to wish him dead. In that respect, he delivered in spades.

Not only that but that he basically turned his mother into a junkie whore that did every nasty shameful thing he told her to do to get her dope from him. And not only that, but that he had turned his mother so far out that she could no longer stand to live with herself. Simply shooting this guy let's him off too easy I think. How good is Pete Postlethwaite with accents specifity? In the movie In the name of the father he did the accent of a man who was Belfast born and bred and here he does the accent of a man who was born and brought up in Belfast but settled later in Boston, So It's a Boston Influenced Belfast accent, you can hear the Ulster Irish intonation but with the Boston Non-Rhoticity. Incredible!!

I'm from Dublin Ireland. I think he does a very good job, you can hear his English accent pop through on some words but I think he does a very good job. If I heard someone speak like that over hear I would think it was someone from the North who has probably lived in England at some point and picked up some of the accent from there. Some Irish people may disagree but I think its quite good especially compared to the ridiculous fake Irish accents you see in some American movies.

steven j Patten if you ask me daredevil as well as green latern had terrible directors who didn't know anything about the characters they were doing a movie for. Also it all comes to the actors personality and not so much of thinking that an actor can do every rol in the world, i've just watching a movie by clint eastwood with leonard dicaprio as the lead and he didn't convice me a little bit with his acting which is strange, isn't? i am not saying that clint eastwood is a bad director (he is actually one of the most talented directors in hollywood), what i am saying is that the character wasn't for the actor giving his personalities traits.
