you should talk about the fact that in multiplayer games you can infinitely trade favors with other players, and stack the living shit out of diplomatic weight, making the galactic community just as one-sided as the real UN. Me and my friend were totally out-competed in actual weight in our MP game with another friend but we had tons of influence, so we just called in dozens of favors on each other (which for some reason scale with your projected power from favors, and not your base weight). combine this with council veto and emergency measures and we had total control of galactic legislation
@QuestionableObject4 жыл бұрын
Using favors should really remove the diplomatic weight from the empire you're taking the favor from to balance it out, so it's more of a "turning the opposition" thing instead of just materializing votes out of the ether.
@bighatastrea4 жыл бұрын
I don't really get the whole favors system in singleplayer. You can just do it 9999 times with a weak empire to get more points, so for whatever reason you can get 100.000 diplomatic points out of a 10k empire lol I hope it's just bugged
@Runetrantor4 жыл бұрын
Really? Huh. Always thought you were essentially taking some of the empire's diplo points for yourself, so the total points didnt go up.
@panzergrenadier65514 жыл бұрын
@@FrederikVV Well, sure. But influence is not a finite resource and you can get large amounts of it if you play your cards right. It only costs 250 influence to exchange 10 favors. in my mp game for example, i had more influence than my friend so i did my favors first which brought my power to 5k. he then did his, and since my power was already so high he was able to gain a much larger boost than i got from him. then all i have to do is get 10 more favors from him for 250 influence and scale even higher. as long as you have a little influence banked it's utterly broken, unless your target for favors is absolute trash.

What would make this origin more interesting was if you end up with a gate on the other side of galaxy at the end of it. Or at least have a chance of that. Being able to expand on the other side of the galaxy without having to open borders with others, without having to pay 1000 influence, and potentially bordering twice as many neighbors as usual would make this origin play rather differently. And having said gate would mean you'd keep cohesion and would immediately be able to trade too.
@RobBCactive3 жыл бұрын

in Singleplayer anything is viable, if you want to play tall go for it. If an AI is threatening to invade then improving relations usually keeps you safe even if you have a small military, joining a federation is another option of course.
@builder11174 жыл бұрын
If you want to play tall you just need to be aware of what techs to rush (Mega-engineering requires specific techs as prereqs wiki them if you don't know them) and what ascension perks to pick. Arcology project (If you get lucky and find some relic world then pick arcology project *after* galactic wonders, or you can just pick remnants as your origin) is sort of necessary for mass alloy/CG production which will feed your mega-structure building notably the matter decompressor as your first mega-structure since if your playing tall you will be lacking minerals. After matter decompressor you should build rings worlds since you need to be growing pops on them as quickly as you can... Which brings us to a very important part of playing tall. You NEED high pop growth. Which their are 2 options here. The decent bio/xenophile immigration build where you go bio ascension and xeno crossbreeding and spam clones vats and such, Which is usually good enough as long as you focus on pop growth things. And then theirs the far superior Synth+bio growth method in which you go synth ascension *and* keep bio pops around to grow which *already* gives you the highest pop growth in the game (And the synths produce more resources than bio pops!), But dear god if you get cybrex as your precursor... Enjoy a 50% growth on your synths AND a ringworld... But anyways I do think playing tall is a good option for beginners as it requires a lot less micro and *I* would argue less game knowledge since you don't need to be aware of the ship component metas and can just buildup your starbases(Along with game knowledge such as knowing how far you can stretch your economy to rush a empire down and how to handle conquered planets). You really only need to know how to rush mega-engineering and pick the right ascension perks and you should be fine.

Somewhat new to stellaris. I just tried this origin for the first time recently and the second gate way lead to a system with a relic world one jump away tucked in a little "cul de sac" sort of area. I thought that was intentional and part of the origin, like an old fallen precursor world of gate builders and my empire has discovered their fallen homeworld. After watching this, it sounds like this was completely random luck for me and not scripted story. Which sucks because it definitely gives my empire a Stargate spinoff feel, and we just found Atlantis. Unfortunately theres only 2 other gateways in the entire galaxy. I rushed the whole thing with a dozen science ships ASAP, thought there would be a lot more. Guess it's up to us to spread a Stargate network everywhere.
@jamiefenwick83594 жыл бұрын
Feels quite weak but I guess that's ok not all the origins have to be strong. Having said that It would make more sense to me if it just gave you the 2 techs fully for free. Gateways cost a rather large amount of resources in the early game and even if you do manage to get an early gateway its hardly game breaking and would probably make a huge dent in your fleet size/star base network spending that many alloys anyway. Like what are you even going to do with a gate early on move your basically non existent fleet across your probably tiny borders super quick. Would be more interesting and maybe useful imo if you didn't also have to spend your entire early game physics research on it. You could also just buff the resources you get from it but that's kind of boring.

Are you planning a playthrough where you start off as a race under a fallen empire, that defeats them, takes their stuff and goes on to take over Galaxy. If so, would you play as Rock ppl or the Phlush?

I take back everything I might have said about discovery being the worst trek, at least DSC follows the standard trek formula well, Picard just has a normal action show formula with its episodes.

Honestly the 3 FTL methods made this game way more interesting, and the fact they literally removed it, instead of just making it an optional feature, is actually *ludicrously* stupid.

@stoirmslw71954 жыл бұрын
Zachery Eckard have you found a mod that adds it back??? Because I wasn’t able to find any that were successful though I did recently revert back the pre 2.0 and play around with them I’d assume it’s not that hard
@zacheryeckard30514 жыл бұрын
@@stoirmslw7195 As I recall it's more of a hard coded limitation now. They said they'd effectively leave a switch that modders could flip to get the FTL modes back, and they didn't. I have seen no mods that solve that problem.

Incredibly underwhelming tbh like sure having a gateway early is cool, provided you have the resources but it's more of a quality of life thing and is completely not worth it in a long game, that is compared to having a relic world or ring world that you have throughout the entirety of your game AAAaa

I have a question about habitats. Could you use them as fortress worlds? If so that’s super powerful because you could put them in strategic locations even if there is no habitable planets in a choke point system.

I miss two-way Gateways in Stellaris, to be honest. I mean, sure the Stellaris Gateways are cool, especially when used in combination with a mod that allows to remove Hyperlanes. But I seriously want an additional gateway tech that allows to build two-way gateways that only allows travel between two specific systems. This would be redundant as this is how hyperlanes work, you say? It may seem so, but that's not the case, as you technically could connect two systems that are much further away from another. Besides, there's nothing wrong about redundant systems in a space game. It would be fun playing a civilisation that never discovered Hyperlanes, but became capable enough to build two-way gateways and must send out getways before they can reach another system. It would slow down the gameplay heavily, but the age of discovery is way too soon over anyways. It would just have to be balanced with the "normal" Hyperlanes.

Treky NERD!!!! Regenerative hull plating is a great early tech as it allows your ships to repair while in the field other wise you have to send them all the way back to a shipyard, so if you desperately need to keep your fleet in a system with out a shipyard its great! Also what advisor voice are you using? it sounds damn nice.
