One important thing that I saw is that James Harden's ball lifting path is super tight to the body; from pocket to setpoint, it sticks to the body. Since reducing the chance that a defender steals the ball

If you wanna guard a stepback then look out for the shoulders because if your good shoulder is pointed to the basket then it's easier to stepback and fire then if you bad shoulder is pointed towards the bucket because then you would need to do a big spin 🤓

When is it not a travel when you do the hop or take another step when u take a step back?
@CoachFrikki Жыл бұрын
It's a travel when you take 3 steps. It's legal when you take 2 steps. Start counting when the ball gets picked up.

im not coach but can help. only works in NBA bc they allow a massive slack on calling travels. maybe u can make it work in another league but i doubt it, NBA wants to be more entertaining, just look at all the dribble moves and 60% of them are travels in NBA (they still the best players on earth tho)

3 steps after the gather
@dumb_as_rocks Жыл бұрын
And that’s being lenient with the gather. Realistically the step as the final dribble hits the ground should be considered the gather step, making it 4 steps. It’s a travel, our minds are just warped by NBA double standards
@CoachFrikki Жыл бұрын
@@dumb_as_rocks His right foot touches the ground before both hands pick the ball up. So his right foot step doesn't count (gather step). Then he steps back Left-Right, 2 steps, legal. You don't start counting when the dribble hits the ground. You start counting after you 1) pick the ball up with 2 hands, 2) 1 hand goes under the ball
@dumb_as_rocks Жыл бұрын
@@CoachFrikki Nah man just because he delays his left hand touching the ball, doesn't mean he isn't control of the ball. that's going to get called a travel by any ref in any competition that isn't NBA. If you're going to claim that he's still dribbling before both hands touch the ball then you've got a carry violation as he's clearly in control of the ball and shifts both pivot feet If you're going to look at it like a ref would then you would see that he's in control of the ball with his right hand and takes 3/4 steps after the slowest most obvious gather step in the world that occurs simultaneously to the dribble. Although you would have already blown the whistle at the egregious carry at the start of the clip where his left hand is fully underneath the ball but continues to dribble. Stop encouraging these bad-faith interpretations of the rules, it's actively ruining the relative parity between defence and offence that makes the game so good. Why do you think everyone is talking about how much they're enjoying the FIBA world cup games at the moment? Because it's objectively a better game when the rules are respected.
