Love the effect of the silver metallic acrylic tinted resin sponge rolled and blown with heat gun WOW - but was wondering why you chose silver leaf accents rather than other metallic silver tinted resin drizzle or paint on like you usually do on your other marbles

Love, love, love. This is gorgeous. It reminds me of stars in the universe. I wondered when you were going to use the silver spray paint. But hey - like Bob Ross used to say "there are no mistakes, just happy trees" Well, no trees but th silver leaf added an extra dimension that is quite lovely.
@ArtistTillDeath6 жыл бұрын
This is a very nice result. The silver spray paint didn't react exactly like the gold spray paint - we are going to have to search for a favorite silver. I'm a Bob Ross fan as well - we make a lot of happy trees lol. This was the first kitchen we did that had so many separate counter spaces. It was definitely a learning process, lol.

Y'all did great! No one would have believed it was your first! Great job. Have you tried the Rustoleum silver? What about the Rust-Oleum chrome? Just a thought....
@brendamosal87776 жыл бұрын
Beautiful work as always! I did not know one could get spray nozzle tips to alter and slow the flow of the paint. Thank you for that pro tip! For the life of me, I cannot get my Rust-Oleum metallic gold to flow like the look you two achieve. I am thinking maybe if I get a really thin tip , it might make a difference. This video has inspired me on a purple marble look I did on a vinyl record album I intend to turn into a clock. It looks "nice" but I wasn't sure how to make it "pop". I am going to use the silver luminiere paint to add veins as I have seen you do on your black marble look. Crossing my fingers! And thank you again for such a detailed, instructional video!
@ArtistTillDeath6 жыл бұрын
+Brenda Mosal thank you!! We are here to help. You can find different caps at smoke shops or skateboarding shops sometimes.
@ArtistTillDeath6 жыл бұрын
Oh yes Brenda, we rarely use the spray caps that come with the spray paint. When using spray paint (ESPECIALLY with metallics) you need to shake the can A LOT. If you live in a cooler climate, you need to shake it even more. The cold temps really make the particles in the can settle and separate. If you don't shake it well enough the resulting color can come out dull, inconsistent and almost gritty looking. We are always here if you have any questions or if you need anything. You can also always email us!
@brendamosal87776 жыл бұрын
Maybe that's why my metallic gold doesn't work like yours does. I do live in Colorado and it's winter right now and my paint is usually down in the basement where it's definitely chilly. And when I spray it I take it outside and it's usually at night and usually it is pretty cold out there. I will try to warm it up and shake it for a couple minutes minimum. I am also going to look into those tips because that is a great idea for the spray paint. As usual, I get something new from every video you do. Thank you so much! ☺
@ArtistTillDeath6 жыл бұрын
It's our sincerest pleasure, we are here to help. Just keep that can in your home overnight and when it comes up to your regular (inside the home) temp it should make a world of difference (especially when properly shaken).

How do you clean your foam roller? Your process is much simpler than another that I've seen. Might try this on my counters, they need a lot of work. Thanks for this video.

Hey veeda! Thank you for watching and commenting! We typically just get a new foam roller after we use it with resin. If you want to attempt to clean it out you could use 91% alcohol.

You work is always stunning! But what do you do with a countertop that has a bull nose (I think that is what it is called lol) edging around and isn’t a straight side like this one? Does it pose a problem? And is the resin you are using non toxic and food grade safe? I use ArtResin because of that. WhT are your thoughts of that product? Just curious...still new to resin, but totally in love!! 💜💕💜💕💜
@GKSFAM86 жыл бұрын
Love the way you guys explain the process I watch all of your videos and u guys are a very big inspiration to my art as well my question is how long do you guys mix the resin you use to do the counter tops?
@ArtistTillDeath6 жыл бұрын
Hello Pauleice! Thank you for watching and for posting a question. The time to mix depends on how much resin you are mixing, what kind of resin you are using and whether you are mixing by hand or with a power tool. As a rule of thumb (for our resin) we mix for about 6 mins when mixing by hand and roughly 4 mins with the power tool.

Hi guys, this is an amazing video with step by step guide! I have been wanting to do my kitchen countertops and have been looking online a lot and I just found your channel. Amazing content on your channel! Great work and the finish product looks amazing! keep it up! Few questions if you can answer please, I'd appreciate it! 1. How much resin was used for this project? 2. I noticed that you guys didn't use the silver spray paint in the first layer like the demo piece that was done for the client, instead added silver leaf before the top coat and after the sanding. Any reason why? and which way is it recommended? 3. Is sanding required after the first layer? I didn't see that in the demo piece. Is it not possible to just add the top layer on top of the first layer without any sanding or does it change the final look? Thanks once again!
@ArtistTillDeath6 жыл бұрын
Hello Aabed! You should totally try it. I will certainly answer for you. It took probably 3.5 gallons for this whole project, start to finish. We didn't use the silver spray paint as we did in the test piece because we underestimated the time. By the time we had everything laid out and the resin where we wanted it - it had set too much to try to add the resin, it wouldn't have had the same effect as it had in the test piece. The reason why you want to sand in between the first and second layer is to create a tooth for the first and second layer to bond to. It doesn't really have much to do with the look - more to do with the longevity of the countertop. We are happy to answer any questions you have, please let us know if you would need any further explanation. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment!

I think I'm going to half to try resin after I finish a few other jobs on my list, (to many to count). You probably already know this but if you place a sheet of wax paper on your metal leaf you can pick up the sheet and lay it down on the adhesive, lightly rub pick it up and place it on the next section. You still have to brush off the excess but it makes handling the metal leaf a lot easier. I watched a video where they actually resin a sink to make it look like marble. Have you ever done a sink? What are your thoughts on doing it? Do you think it would hold up to heavy use? Thanks. Love your artistry and videos. Thanks for doing them.
@ArtistTillDeath6 жыл бұрын
Hey Barbara. We actually have some that start on a sheet and you can just rub it off onto the adhesive (it's not loose) but I didn't have any on hand when we started this one. Thank you for the tips though and you should totally do yours. I have resined around a sink but never into a sink. I'm not sure how it would hold up but I would be interested in giving it a shot one day. I'm just nervous since the resin likes to run off of edges and such. I would have to find a special resin made for vertical surfaces. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment!

If I don't have a heat gun, can I use a hairdryer with the diffuser attachment on it? Not sure if it would "ruin" the resin look if any amount of air comes out of the diffuser
@ArtistTillDeath6 жыл бұрын
That would totally work in terms of moving the resin around. I would just worry about it getting hot enough. Definitely do a test before starting on your countertops. It needs to get hot enough to pop the bubbles that you mix into the resin when you combine parts A and B.

That's my sister's name! And yes, you can use pretty much any medium to tint resin EXCEPT oil paints. I made that mistake once and the painting "bled out" if that makes sense - and yes it looked as weird and as gross as it sounds. Thank you for watching!

@ArtistTillDeath6 жыл бұрын
Colleen Terry hey Colleen. Ultimately I wouldn’t recommend cutting on it - much like I wouldn’t cut on marble or granite either. The products we use are heat, water and alcohol resistant - it’s also FDA approved. If you tried, you could scratch it but I would assume most households and bars use cutting boards, no matter what the countertop is made of. I hope that answers your question, I’m here if I need to clarify or if you have any other questions.
