Now this is a move I have got to master. I can do a pistol squat but with horrible form. I plan on really focusing on form and mobility next time around. Awesome video, thanks guys!

Adam did something you never see or hear anyone do. He acknowledged for all the form police that his form was off on the pistol squat because he didn’t have the mobility.

The Bulgarian split sqaut is a good prelude to the pistol squat.

Bulgarian squat is a good exercise but it does very little to help with the pistol squat. Sourse; personal experience of both exercises.

Excellent! Right off the top. The ankle mobility ROM. Have it? NOPE. Double hard with a locked up QL. This move looks like it exposes any deficiencies in the kinetic chain. This video highlighted several for me. Need to find some complimentary stretches to ankle stretch. Great job

No wonder Justin can do “shoot the duck” on roller skates! And these are great! I broke my leg and dislocated my ankle playing roller derby and sadly my range of motion in that ankle has suffered. But these exercises are spot on! Song with the video where Adam demonstrated the ankle range of motion exercise against the wall!

🤯 I COULDN'T BELIEVE I COULDN'T DO A PISTOL SQUAT! I REALLY NEED TO WORK ON ALLLLLL MY LEG JOINT FLEXIBILITY! WOW! I KNEW I NEEDED TO, BUT THE MORE I TRY THE STIFFER I NOTICE I'VE BECOME. I WAS REALLY SURPRISED AT HOW BIG YOUR ARE YOU DID IT AS FAST & EASY AS I AM TO SIT DOWN AT THE KITCHEN TABLE. & I'M ONLY 185LBS. THANX FOR THE CHALLENGE!!! & YEAH, I'M DEFINITELY GONNA CHALLENGE OTHERS WITH IT. LOOKS EASY BUT EXTREMELY NOT! 😆

Thanks for posting, great video. I'm not sure about the idea that guys that can squat 200 or even 300lbs have enough strength to pistol squat. If a 200lb guy is trying to pistol squat, all of that weight is going through one leg. The nervous system has not been trained to generate that force one leg at a time..

I can squat around 315lbs, while i see people at my gym that can do 135lbs and they can pistol squat while I can not.
@fleece49185 жыл бұрын
It's a mobility and imbalance between quad, ham, glute issue. Not nervous system.
@TungNguyen-yr3gm5 жыл бұрын
yes it is about mobility, flexibility and not really a matter of strength since that person can squat 300 lbs. But i would say yes with CNS since that person has not done any pistol squat before, so the body needs time to get used to the movement pattern.

hey mate, check this guy out with his full fledged one leg squats @ I don't know how he'd done it but he'd done it. I understand that he speaks English so go ahead and ask away...fast forward to 1:37 to see the actual squat

The only reason your knee goes in front of your toe is you lack mobility. Stay upright in your squat and you knee will stay behind the toe. You are way to overdeveloped in your upper body and lack mobility to do this. But you'll get there.
